Starlight Shards are a Consumable Item in Elden Ring. Most Consumables grant various effects such as restorative properties for recovering HP, removing certain negative status effects, or applying temporary buffs and debuffs. There is only a finite number of Starlight Shards per playthrough.
An ephemeral sliver that gives off a pale blue glow.
What remains of a passing flash of starlight.
Use to gradually recover FP.
A prized item that was once used in the Eternal City as an ingredient in intoxicating draughts.
Starlight Shards Use in Elden Ring
- Can be consumed to restore 2 FP per sec for 60 secs (120 FP Total).
- Can be traded for Spirit Ashes with Preceptor Seluvis.

AnonymousLet's ignore the PvP stigma for a second and look at the item for what it is: a limited use FP restore over time consumable. In and of itself, nothing particularly special, considering what the cerulean flask provides, but it has its small uses here and there.
That is the gripe I have: limited supply, and limited effectiveness. If it was a consistently more viable option than a cerulean flask, I wouldn't mind the limited supply. Similarly, if we had a way to reliably replenish our supply, I wouldn't mind the limited effectiveness.
But sadly, this is double-limited. Meaning, IF YOU ARE AN HONEST PLAYER, you're not likely to want to use this all that much.
AnonymousFP is already practically infinite in this game. It's a legitimate complaint to say that these should have been farmable in a playthrough, but it's highly unlikely that you lost an invasion entirely because scary red phantom regen'd some FP at you and/or could have possibly duped them.

AnonymousI refuse to cheat but i still use these. I just do the pegasus glitch to get to moonlight altar, pick them all up, then wrong warp and zip glitch to beat the game in 5 minutes and then go into ng+ and repeat

AnonymousWhy can't we just have these at a merchant now for PVE at least.
Make it the one in Mohgwyn palace or have one in Moonlight altar if we need to suffer a bit. The PvP folks just dupe/cheat them in anyway so throw us PVE only folks a bone.
Anonymousin castle Enis, there is another Starlight shard at stone astrolab.

AnonymousI just noticed there is not a single mention on this site about the Starlight Shard at Hermit Village at Mt. Gelmir. There is another Astrolobe there.

AnonymousI like yelling "JESSE WE NEED TO COOK" before clubbing the swordmaster monkey to death because i sure need that blue for my 10 MIND tarnished.

Anonymousinsufferable minigame losers in the comment section, read at your own risk

Anonymous
To the guy that consumed one of these at the start of the arena duel and ran to the rubble on the ground just to spam the interrupted Golden Land's orbs and explosion: I hope you liked the taste of my chicken wing in your face, probably goes well with all that cheese.

AnonymousWow. I had no idea there was such controversy around these. I use them regularly on my play through, it just sucks how finite they are

AnonymousThe bottom line is how stupid it is for there to be a consumable so rare that you would feel confident reporting anyone who pops them in an invasion.
I personally don't use these, but I can understand why a frequent invader would go off the deep end and stop caring about integrity after I've seen multiple Overleveled Phantoms in full DLC-gear pop them against my honest RL60 build. One of them even dropped me 50 Hero's Runes after I unequipped everything to be friendly, almost as if to confess. How frail do you have to be to cheat with a gear and numbers advantage...
AnonymousNothing screams "great decision-making" like creating an item that provides players with some generous FP recovery, not only privileging dupers and cheaters but also discouraging players from leveling up their Mind.

AnonymousSecond one at castle ensis, you go to highroad cross and jump down into the river with the ghost troll, head left and jump down near the waterfall onto a roof in castle ensis, from there climb along the battlements and jump off to the west onto another roof, then its just south west by a stone astrolabe

AnonymousProbably would've been more accepted by the community if they functioned more like a Divine Blessing. Full Restore for FP, but you can only hold a max of 1 at a time.
So even if it was duped, traded, or whatever, you still could only use 1 per rest.
The blossom that I can't recall the name of from the DLC, is good enough, as it causes Sleep build-up as a side effect.
I always ignored these.
Just found a few of them on my new character today, and said "man this either gotta be useless or so precious that I'll never use it". Came to wiki to check, and all I see is people talking about dupers. Why would anyone ruin the fun like that
AnonymousNever in my 800+ hours have I used one of these because I categorize them as “precious shiny, must hoard and never use”-type items. I need to get help :(

Anonymouswow how fun i'm going to play pvp again after several months, they've clearly changed the game for the better right? nope 3/5 of today's invasions were using these along with dlc weapons and AOW at lvl 25 / wp +5
We both know you used an external app, we both know you didn't duplicate them with your girlfriend (maidenless) since it would take you at least 90 sessions to fill out up to 900
The problem lies in the infinite number of spellcasting and AOW
At some point in the invasion you should run out of resources but junk items like these make 1) the invasion unnecessarily longer and 2) the little punishment given to spamming spells to infinity
It's boring, dishonest and every time you use it online, you give others reasons to stop playing pvp and move on to another game
Add passivity, ganking, overlevel phantoms and status effects to the equation and you will see how online activity decreases every day
AnonymousI use them on my pure caster build when I'm helping other players. Now get mad at me.

AnonymousThat guy just used a consumable item in Elden Ring, that must automatically mean they used Cheat Engine to spawn infinite of them!
Jokes aside it makes no difference to an individual instance of multiplayer if they were obtained legitemately or not. It only affects you if you are invaded many times by the same person within a couple hours and they used multiple of these every time. But even then there's still no way to tell if they traded for them, or went through NG+ to stockpile a hundred or so in advance in the span of a few hours. But sadly there are many people who will immediately accuse anyone who uses even just one of these a cheater, but if you think that's true then what do you think is the point of these items existing in the game at all? are you just supposed to keep them in your inventory and never use them? I think being invaded is one of the best times to use them naturally since you can't sit down at a grace to restore your flasks at that time, and using them during a boss fight could easily end up a waste.
AnonymousLet's be honest guys : It's clear by reading this chat this item is just an excuse to complain about invaders. It's just a fp recovery, not a big deal and definitively not a game changer. Personally I don't duplicate them and only use it against long-term fights, against gankers for exemple. But I don't care some people use CE to have plenty of it, it's just time saving.
But hey, stop to act like snotty childs. When you installed the game, you accepted to be invaded at the moment you play co-op. That's a fact, just accept that.
Invaders don't have "special tools" to abuse hosts, as I read bellow. Host have access to the same tools, same weapons, same consummables, same armor, at the same rune level.
But hosts have access to twice the amount of flasks, can be embered, can summoned overleveled co-op and unlimited blue hunters. Maybe you considered it's a fair trade ?
Now seriously, invasions are part of souls games since the very first one. You have to deal with it, nobody care about your feelings about it. ER is clearly the one that created the most confortable environnement for hosts. Don't trust me ? Try DS2 a few hours.
You have to face the fact that if you lose against a single invader while playing with two friends, you're not so good at the game, and the invader was just straight better. And i'ts ok, it's not a big deal.
But face the reality instead of getting crazy upset about "imaginary broken tools" like starlight shards or others, and ask yourself the right questions : why did I lose, and how can I improve ?
AnonymousI mean yeah, it's a bit unfair, that you can't buy them, while other players are duping them. But the amount of rage in this Chat below is just insane. Seriously guys, please go touch some Grass...
Espeacially if you are invading another World, were you fight 3 people at once, you have to admit that 2 fp per second don't suddendly make this fight nearly easy for you.
And no, i don't say that, cause i'm using them. I never duplicated items. But i'm also not against it.
I mean at some point you are also tired of farming or going ng+ just cause you missed another important item again or whatever
Anonymousthe definitive "i want to look like a pro but am actually bad at the game" consumable

AnonymousI used too much of it to push through Lyendell before progressing Selivus’s questline. Now I’m stuck at the puppet choosing menu and cannot get magic scorpion charm.

AnonymousYou can't stop dupers from duping, so why can't these be made to be more easily renewable beyond going into NG+? It would hurt no one if everyone could get more.

AnonymousI just like using these because the pretty blue sparkles match my outfit.

AnonymousJust savescum them guys. It's worth it and you don't feel like a coping cheater that way

AnonymousAll the players that are duping these and spamming them in invasions are genuinely the cancer of this game. I wonder what kind of mental gymnastics they are going through trying to tell themselves that is isn't straight up cheating.

AnonymousThese are now farmable, but I wish we could buy rare ingredients and consumables such as this. Once I finish a build and stop leveling up, my runes have no use after all my weapons are upgraded and boluses maxed out. Still a great game, but I feel this would open up options for players who don't like to dupe. I sit on so many consumables because they're nonrenewable.

AnonymousWhy is using these things still allowed in multiplayer session?
Duping is cheating; time to level up mind and say goodbye to your lvl 125 build with 10 in mind and infinite AoW spam.
AnonymousSotE Starlight Shards:
-(Castle Ensis Checkpoint): On a Rooftop near the waterfall cliff path.
-(Highroad Cross): At a Starlight Collector on a cliff at the highest part of Castle Ensis.
-(Cathedral of Manus Metyr): At a Starlight Collector on the cliff to the Southeast of the Manor.
-(Cerulean Coast West): Demi-Human Swordsman in the canyon to the east.
AnonymousOh youre a caster? No need to invest in mind just dupe this item, you can hold 10 per rest.Fromsoft refusing the acknowledge the item duping and cheating in their games and balancing them as if these weren't exploited by the players. You should not be able to drop any items to other players or if you can balance the game accordingly. One of the most broken items in the game.

AnonymousAnother can be found at Castle Ensis on a stone astrolabe right next to where you find the Carian Sorcery Sword.

AnonymousSo did a quick test to see if these were indeed farmable from the Swordmaster Demi-Humans (Yoda's). from my testing it looks like these are sadly just a one time drop (like the flesh from Great-Jars). I did 50 runs at 188 discovery and didn't have any drop (discounting the first kill which seems like a 100% drop rate) so even if this is technically a farmable item now.. it sure as hell isn't a sensible farm

Anonymousit would be so awsome we got some of those when defeating bosses as phantoms instead/with rune archs. and to make it balanced only carry 3 with you. everyone just dupe these anyway. if they don't want to encourage you to use this item limit it to only one use and done, or nerf it and buff the talisman that recovers FP, at least it makes more sense to spend 1 talisman slot for it

Anonymous
AnonymousSo is this farmable from Swordmasters now, or just one time drop?

Anonymouswhat if I said they purposely created starlight shard for invader to abuse host ?
reason is simple , they already know the issue of Siegbrau in DS3 but they still do this.
when advantage for host in DS3 is Ember that tradable.
but advantage for host in ER is Rune Arc , can not be trade.
they also remove Giant Seed. made charm (bewitching branch) hardly to use and almost all strong foes resist to charm.
that it , they want people to yell , and that will make the community alive.
AnonymousThe fact thst the dlc didn't give a bell bearing to purchase these is the most blatant proof that from software's developers don't even play the game. All this duping and cheating debate would just be over if ymir's bell bearing allowed these to be in the shop, but nooo... and ppl say they give a damn about pvp.

Anonymous"1 found near a cliff in Weeping Peninsula"
Dawg, do you know how many cliffs are in this game? Lmao. Maybe a better landmark like a gracepoint or an actual location with a cardnial direction, e.g. "north of X-location."
Anonymous
AnonymousI've seen the enemy version of the demi-human yosh drop them (The one located at the entrance of the area you get his katana)

The sollution for all this *****ing about duping star shards and rotten meatballs, reloading old saves, etc would be to have a convenant like system where equiping different great runes during COOP or invasions gives you a different reward alongside the Rune Arc instead of the useless finger remedy everyones has 500+ of. Then you could farm those legit.
Also, limit star shards to 3 per life just like meatballs, being able to spam 10 as a mage just eliminates the pourpose of the red/blue Estus system. It also tricks new players that don't get how rare they are into wasting a bunch of them against some worthless side-boss or catacomb they got lost in.
Anonymous
AnonymousFavourite item in the game hands down! I got 999 in storage & pop them like candy. Yep block me & cry me a river

AnonymousI still block everyone who use this , but not for Lulling Branch. even Lulling Branch has stronger effect than Starlight shard but it is farmable.
It's not about 2 FP/sec is OP , it's about honor.
Cheater not deserve to play with me.
And I will never use cheat or savescum method.
AnonymousAll those people getting mad about starlight shards when Lulling Branch (5FP PER SECOND!!!) and Blessed Blue Dew Talisman (0.5FP/s) can shut their mouths now lol

AnonymousPeople even still get obscenely mad at this item even IF you farm them across several characters and trade them to a friend and back to get them all on one save slot.
I've done this about 20 times now, i deserves to use them
AnonymousThere's a demi-human near the cerulean coast west grace and he dropped a starlight shard when I killed him.

AnonymousGentlemen, we have obtained the Blessed Blue Dew Talisman, we no longer need Starlight Shards.

AnonymousIn Shadow of the Erdtree, near the Cerulean Coast on the way to the Demi-Human Queen Boss, there is a Demi-Human Swordmen mob (lesser variant of the boss) that drops a Starlight Shard on death. Though I'm not sure if it's a one-time drop only though, as I killed him 12 times afterwards with the Silver Scarab (185 item find) and he only ever dropped base game and DLC crafting materials.

Anonymous"There's only 21 of these, you can't possibly be using them online"
"There's only 21 of these, I need to save them just in case"
Solution: save them just to use against invaders, they either quit (w) or you have fun in a video game (w).
Anonymousif FS trap cheater by check their NG session and ban everyone that have these thing more than 21 but never go NG+.
Invaders session will instantly died.
AnonymousHey gamers, I'm gonna teach you how to dupe (console/Xbox specific method) these super fun items, that the community LOVES. ~ Step 1: Acquire friendship, you require a friend to do this method, so grab a jolly co-operation partner and have them standby at the ready. ~ Step 2: Have at least 1 of these in your inventory, they aren't hard to get, so go grab 1. ~ Step 3: Make sure your character is saved, the best way to do this, is to sit at a site of grace, and exit the game normally as to ensure your character is saved to the cloud. ~ Step 4: From the grace, drop up to 5 stacks of these items onto the ground, and have your friend put down a red sign to be summoned. ~ Step 5: Have your friend pick up the items, and finger sever out of the game. ~ Step 6: Press the 3 lines button on your controller, scroll down to Elden Ring, and press the 3 lines button again, and then press 'Manage game and add-ons', go to 'Saved Data', then press on your profile. You will be prompted with 2 options. DO NOT delete it from everywhere. You want to delete it from ONLY the console. If you delete it from everywhere, all your saves will be permanently deleted. ~ Step 7: Go back into the game, check your inventory & storage, you should still have the shards. Repeat Step 1-7 until your friend have the maximum amount of Starlight Shards. ~ Step 8: Have your friend follow Steps 1-7 until you both have the maximum shards.

AnonymousHow to make people rage-quit judging by the comments about this item, step by step guide:
* Step 1: Be ANY build, even if it doesn't use much FP (More than likely works best with int/faith/arcane builds that utilize spells, incantations, or any weapon with an ash of war that you can find complaints about online)
* Step 2: Have at least 1 Starlight Shard
* Step 3: Simply use 1 Starlight Shard, and wait for your foe to use their finger severer, or disconnect.
AnonymousIf you guys get so mad I use these when invading and face dual lance gankers and block me you guys are doing me a favour

AnonymousPeople getting angry you reload a save so just make multiple copies boom problem solved

Anonymous
Anonymouswhy are these allowed in the coliseum when they're an extremely limited item? I would honestly understand more if raw meat dumplings were allowed because at least those can be farmed and have the downside of poison if you don't have the boluses on you, but this almost gives you enough fp for two Erdtree Heals. (literally ten less than you would need) or enough for two Lord's Heals.

AnonymousSmug discord moderators favorite consumable. After I beat the cheater abusing these they get blocked and reported

AnonymousSimple/Blessed Infusions and maybe even a passive FP Regen Talisman better make a comeback in the DLC. Or at the very least a way to farm these so that you don't need to jump through hoops just to get a steady supply of FP back without Flasks. The Ancestral Spirit Horn/Assassin Daggers Talismans and Sacrificial Axe/Sword of Milos are great for helping you conserve flasks through a long level but besides these Starlight Shards there's no legitimate way to passively get FP back without enemies around. There's even 2 Great Runes that help you regenerate HP when active, but still nothing for FP. Give us more blue stuff, From!

Anonymous21 per entire game and half of them are in alt map that need to do a long Ranni questline.
feel no guilty blocking everyone who use this in invasion and coliseum.
you never win if you don't cheat huh ?
AnonymousDo they stack like ds2 life gems? If i pop 2 of them would it restore 4 fp/sec??

AnonymousGuys these are ridiculous at stormveil castle you don't even have to level mind and you can keep spamming the dragon halberd ash without chugging a flask has anyone noticed this combo yet??

AnonymousWhenever I invade in the first step. I always spam these upon making eye contact with the host until they use the point down emote. Then I use the point down emote as well and chainsaw the host (real).

AnonymousIf from wanted to balance these for pvp (as they should, any pvp in any game should be balanced, that's just the core of good game design), they should bring back duel charms. Unless you're proposing that someone who wants to run str should have to switch out helmet, talisman, and weapon to grafted blade just to meet the int requirement, cast once, then switch back, or to dump valuable levels into int, law of regression is limited to int builds. Having the ability to debuff someone through a consumable would immediately solve starlight shard spam. Have it be a craftable, like albanauric pots.

AnonymousIt sucks for hosts to fight duping invaders, and it also suck for invaders to fight duping hosts.
From my point of view as an invader, either I have a decent invade against a clueless host with their friends, or I run into gank squads who pop this and throw endless amount of 2000 dmg lighting spears at my face then pointing down.
Just disable all of these limited consumables or make them easily farmable. Narrow the gap between casual hosts and tryhard gankers, between casual invaders and tryhards as well.
Low skill players shouldn't receive an easy tool to break even with high skill players. Oh am I talking about hacks or abusing limited items I wonder.
AnonymousI found one not listed here. Mountain tops SW of Castle Sol, Astrolabe near the Death Rite Bird.

AnonymousOther then Aretria leaf this is the only other item I dupe so useful should be buyable but restricted to only three instead of ten.

AnonymousI don't dupe these I just reload my save. I don't enjoy the pve in this game and I'm only here to pvp. I'm already forced to engage in pve to get my build I don't want to have to fall asleep riding around in a dumb riding simulator to get a big enough stock just to trade with my main. I've still only got a limited stock during the time I'm playing with you.

AnonymousIf I see someone use these, I always block them after the session. You’re cheating. You’re not intended to have 10 duped FP replenishers every single PVP encounter. The game obviously wasn’t balanced around that.

AnonymousIf I see someone using these the double pikes come out. Always assume the worst.

Anonymous
AnonymousAnd absolutely no-one is cheating with these things are they? Nope, no-one at all. Nobody.

AnonymousFor good ol' coop, Ancestral Horn and offhand Sword of Milos is good enough.
For PvP? Fromsoft should just remove the fact it's a consumable. Being able to have a "caster build" with 10 mind or a total of 1200 FP is stupid.
AnonymousThe Cerulean Dagger and Ancestral Horn don't ask for much. Just a bit of patience and a few enemies to fight. No NG+, no juggling save files, just some light, passive regeneration to keep you going and save your Flasks for emergencies.

AnonymousThis comment section is a very clear example of why From needs to remove PvP from these games altogether.

AnonymousYeah I'll admit, I've stockpiled a bunch of these and use them for Co-Op. Super useful since I tend to run spell heavy builds and also like to provide buffs and healing. It's pretty much enabled me to help Hosts clear entire dungeons/areas without running out of Flasks.
So uh... at least I'm using them for good?
AnonymousHey, isn't there one at the Deathrite Bird on the way to Castle Sol?

10 duped Starlight Shards give 5.5 maxed out flasks' worth of FP AT RUNE LEVEL 1. 1200 FP while you have a bar 16 times smaller (75 MAX FP, 9 Mind). Soulsborne games are made by headless chickens. The carrying maximum should probably be 3, and the FP should be a percentage of MAX FP instead of a flat value. There are three problems right now: 1) It makes PvP an absolute chore that makes you wish you were spending the time learning an instrument (or other life skill) instead, 2) Spells are designed to be a powerful yet limited resource, but with the shards they're just powerful 3) It absolutely wrecks players at low rune levels, even if a mage only had FP flasks they would not hold a candle against 10 duped Starlight Shards.

AnonymousCouldn't be a good invader without these, I use like 25 of them every gaming session.

AnonymousThese should work like Raw Meat Dumplings. You can only hold three at a time and they proc a negative status effect (sleep?). In my opinion, since Starlight Shards give you FP over time instead of instantly like the Raw Meat Dumpling does for health, the negative status effect should also be applied over time. I think Sleep would be the best negative status effect for this. Over time, while you have the buff, the Sleep meter slowly rises (and it will fill before the buff is over unless you do something about it). This downside should be counteracted by a buff to its recovery power.
Finally, these two items should be craftable.
AnonymousI don't care if you find 20 per ng, if it can't be farmed i will not use it.

Anonymous
AnonymousI don’t understand how the community accept the abuse of this thing during invasions. Duping shards to have free FP is cheating. Most pvp players avoid any investment in mind and do not bring blue flasks; if you want to stay at 125 with mind at 10, you should accept your FP bar is limited. Starlight shards should be DISABLED in any pvp session.

AnonymousYou should be able to craft/buy these.
HP has several healing incantations, blessed dew talisman, icon shield, crimson dagger, craftable, yellow stones, prayerful strike, blood tax, great stars.
Meanwhile for FP the cerulean dagger is ok but not reliable for mages, the axe and the ancestral horn talisman give pitiful amounts of FP back, and the starlight shards are not craftsble and non respawnable. Just limit the amount in PvP for balance porpuses and that's it.
Anonymousif i get invaded and its a drawn out fight where the invader ends up using 10 of those (maximum he can hold), i wont bat an eye because theres the possibility he got them legit and it would be unfair to freak out on the assumption they mighthave cheated. meaning that regardless of the invasion outcome it would be irrelevant if they cheated or not.
but lets be honest thats not what the underlying issue is being debated in the comments. the issue is that invaded players with multiple advantages and equally as many skill issues lost at some point to an invader miserably because they have been forced in a involuntary pvp session simply for wanting to share the game experience with friends or in co-op
theres no fix for starlight shards because theyre not broken. "fixing" them would just direct people to complain about something else caused by the forced pvp
AnonymousI hope the dlc adds a rune arc shop with these and other rare materials. It would be nice to spend rune arcs for things that would actually matter

Anonymous"x10 Starlight Shards can be found all around the Site of Grace at the center of the Cathedral of Manus Celes and x1 more at the cliff nearby"
There are only 9 around the Site of Grace, and then 1 more at the cliff.
AnonymousIt´s soo funny to see all of these people complain about gankers with this consumable
-You ALWAYS have numbers advantage or even
-Great runes
-More flasks
-No friendly damage
-You can resumon blues and phantoms infinitely
Also, you can have a max level phantom just because
AnonymousTwo unlisted shards are near the deathbirdnear castle sol and at the village near Azur along the cliffs.

AnonymousTypically used for invaders who dupe or use cheat engine to have about 1200 fp or more with the use of flask, that's one of the reasons why those games will never have a competitive scene, too much cheat engine and dupe stuff

AnonymousShould just make them buyable and reduce the amount which you can carry at once. 10 is an absolutely crazy amount to have at once.

Anonymousgreat choice not making these respawn/buyable at any point and forcing players to dupe them for pvp since their flasks are halved, definitely goty game design if you ask me or the competence police

AnonymousI currently have 19 shards in my inventory and purchased both the cheapest puppets, making the total 24 possible shards. I have no idea where I got the additional shards from, I obviously didn't dupe or anything.

AnonymousThis and the other exceedingly rare/limited items that motivate people to dupe them have cultivated some of the most unpleasant invaders and to a lesser degree hosts/phantoms possibly ever in Fromsoft history.
You know exactly the kind of invader, the one that immediately runs to the other side of the continent if he's in danger, pops a starlight shard, waits behind an enemy, tries to cheese you with arrow rain and duped golem arrows, exclusively running pokes with thrust weapons or halberds the microsecond you engage an enemy or try to stormhawk axe you after you've gotten impatient.
Better off just letting them kill you or jumping off a cliff at that point because they'll waste like 30 minutes of your time with the ultra passivity if you refuse to take the bait.
AnonymousWhile I think infinite buying would have to be rather expensive given how incredibly good these are, I would like if after killing Radahn these would rarely drop from the sky as a falling star. Just a little more world flavor that would be actually useful and encourage chasing down wherever it landed.

Anonymousthese are so useful against invaders at the first step, easy to dupe too

i CE 99x of these in, 99x golem arrow, 99x bolus etc then go invading
