Best pure arcane weapon, especially in PvP. Pair with drawstring greases and the Reduvia for the ash of war and to speed up progression, since Somberstone weapons can be upgraded to +1-2 immediately, +4 if you take the path around Stormveil Castle, and +6 if you collect the Dectus Medallions and collect the somberstones in Altus. You can take it further than that, but its kinda hard, especially without killing bosses.

Know the Halberd moveset? Cool. Don't mind collecting/spending greases? Awesome.
Highest Letter Grade? Justifiable.
It nice that this weapon teaches first-time players how Arcane works but it's boring.

I think a high DEX/ARC build with this with Sleep Grease and Thollier's Needle in the offhand could be fun. If you meet at least the minimum for the other stats for both weapons it would work well, since Spinning Slash is mid and the needle overwrites your active Ash when offhanded.

Since it does not scale with Strength or Dexterity, you will not get a two-handed attack increase. But off-hand weapons or shields with passive effects are still applicable.

It's fun seeing people talk about this weapon like the nerfs ruined it when it's still long as hell, does solid damage off of just a single stat, has a fantastic moveset, and gets great status build up with greases, all while having lower physical stat requirements than any of the innate bleed weapons you'd usually occult infuse on a pure arc build.

Blood, poison, and sleep grease take the stage when it comes to buffing this thing & the axe, but I've never seen anyone point out that it makes it one of the better options for a faith/arc build. Using electrify armament or order's blade essentially makes this thing scale extremely well with both stats. Just make sure to use a seal that scales with purely faith, as weapon buffs with not scale with the arcane portion of the dragon communion seals scaling.

By just farming for runes, without any item discovery equipments, they can quite be acquired frequently.

And I think they are still good to play with Poison, Bleed and Sleep.

I was prepared to spend a bit farming this thing on a new pure arcane build. I started as a wretch, leveled up only once (11 arcane) and got this on the second try.

This is the swiss army knife of arcane builds, it doesn't really excel at anything but with being able to buff this with spells and greases make it able to adapt to every situation.

they really did dirty on this one. +25 upgraded
at 60 arc this is outclassed by both occult scythe and occult grave scythe. scythes can use better ashes of war and have bleed good to go. the bleed on occult is also better (scythes 109, ripple 94 with blood grease).
I also like reapers movesets alot more, but that's just me.
I guess ripple halbers is okay if you plan to use sleep, but then again I think throwing pots is better, since you don't accidentally wake your enemies up before doing a crit.

I wonder why almost never encounter this on duels, until I wanted to give it a try, drawstring greases are a pain in the ass to craft, sopoforic ones are not even renewable beacuse trina's lily don't respawn by some reason, you may gonna be using between like 4-5 drawstring sopoforic greases per duel, so depending on your playtime you will probably run out of greases in like 2 pvp sessions (Assuming you got every trina's lily on that NG cycle) unless you have a way to cheat duplicating items the amount of sleep greases you can get without jumping trough NG cycles is extremely limited by no reason at all, wtf miyazaki :(

People who use this and dual St. Trina's, like to be hyper aggressive, but they are easy to punish with great shield crash. They'll keep running at you and all you have to do is L2 ram them into oblivion.

Best on 1v1 , sleep proc in 3 poke and don't care that poke is hit or not.
not good in invasion , even default skill is spinning slash but it's lag of CC , you can sleep host but you can not land another attack when you are in 1 vs 2 or 1 vs 3

How to use this weapon properly is to get 2 max lvl friends to use it with u in lvl 30 bracket and ur friends give u infinite sleep grease for u and ur friends to put on it. Then use taunted tongue in murkwater cave to eviscerate invaders.

This weapon is why you should always have clarifying horn charm +1 in your inventory, most people who still use this are not very good as players with skill find it boring. So just make sure you have high focus and don’t just run keep pressure on them as they will win if you keep running trying to avoid the sleep proc.

I had one guy sleep me in three phantom hits, and then combo me from 0 to death (I had 60 vigor and heavyish armor). TBF I didn't have the sleep resist, but still, crazy.

On it's own, this weapon is fine. The fact sleep grease scales with this is not fine. For those who don't know why sleep is OP, it causes build up even if you dodge through it. When you get afflicted, you're stuck in place for 2 seconds, even if you properly dodged the attack. Which equals 1 or 2 free hits for your opponent

This thing, as well as the Ripple Blade, make pretty effective use of Poison Armament. The Poison buildup from Poison Armement gets boosted by the Arcane scaling and ends up being superior to regular Poison Grease, but weaker than the Drawstring version.

At 45 Arcane at +25 these are the buildup values;
Poison Grease; 177 Poison Buildup
Drawstring Poison Grease; 225 Poison Buildup
Poison Armament; 197 Poison Buildup

The nice thing is that you don't need to craft anything with Poison Armament.

I just had the strangest stroke of luck. I was getting the painter ghost behind Caria Manor, encountered an Albinauric with this thing in the graveyard, thought to myself "hey maybe I should go farm for that halberd, it's not useful for me but I'd like to see it." And then immediately got the halberd. I'm not even running an Arcane build I was just curious.

Great weapon to +25 for 99 Arcane farming builds. Doesn't matter if you dump every other stat as long as you meet requirements. Good poise damage, great moveset, great reach.

If you do the rune farm except instead of killing those downhill from the palace approach road grace kill all those in the blood-filled lake as well (not the one that summons the giant skeleton, leave that f**ker alone) without anything to boost discovery you'll get a load of these things. I've been selling them to the merchants for bonus runes from the farm runs.

if you wanna get everything in the game or are planning on grinding for a few weapons with low drop rates this should be one of the first things you grind. Amazing AR for a pure Arcane build and with low stat requirements too hell I'm powerstancing these things at 80 arcane and can do just fine grinding an area like Haligtree.

Whenever a weapon has arcane scaling, it not only increases the damage, but also any status effect build-up on it. This and the ripple crescent axe are the only (I think) arcane scaling weapons that can be buffed.


HOWEVER, spell buffs like bloodflame blade don't seem to function properly on them as it took about as long for me to bleed the mad troll outside volcano manor with this on 55 ARC as it did for me to bleed him with a banished knight halberd. Blood grease worked significantly better. So basically this is the ideal weapon for a melee arcane build that relies on greases instead of innate build-up but avoid using bloodflame blade, poison armament, frozen armament, etc. until they fix their functionality with this.

As the pages for weapon buffs note, weapon buffs ONLY take into account your Seal's faith scaling. You'd be better off with one that scales only with faith rather than the Dragon Communion Seal, no matter how high your arcane stat.

I'm curious who figured out the "2%" drop rate and how. Because I've been farming for hours. I've killed over 300 of the halberd wielding albinaurics with 120 item find. A bit of quick maths suggests I'd have about a 99.8% chance of having found at least one by now at just 100 item find. I'm pretty bitter right about now...

Hilarious weapon with greases, and ChasetheBro recently showcased how good it could be. I finally crash-tested this yesterday for great results -- and not only is the high status build alone good, but it also meshes with the Pulley Crossbow in the offhand for a full-on status build. Rot people, sleep them, bleed them, so many options -- Black Key bolts with a Rot Grease will rot people in a single barrage, Bleed grease and Barbed Bolts will deal over 60% of the bleed bar. The halb itself is still the main source of damage, don't spam the crossbow -- just having sleep grease on and poking deals over 40% of the sleep bar plus damage, while the crossbow can be partially poised and doesn't take advantage of phantom hits as well.

It just dropped from one of the red albinaurics circling around a tree in thr middle of the moghwyn area. The item had that purple color of the rare/unique objects... Maybe it is a guaranteed drop from that one dude? Can someone try again?
