The weapon itself looks absolutely sick and I love the fact that it kinda gives off the vibe of a giant magic staff like the Watchdog Staff.

But I swear every person in colosseum I've met who uses this has the most passive L2 spammy playstyle ever. Like genuinely it feels like fighting an ai most of the time. You walk towards them, they move backwards and when they can't they m1, you give them space and it's immediate L2 spam until they're out of stam/fp which is basically a free harpoon/pot to the face since they don't even try protecting themselves.
Just another cool weapon that feels mid because everybody else I see using it isn't very good at pvp.

longest colossal, pierce damage, based quality scaling, goated ash of war, accessible early with enough game knowledge. one of the most goated weapons in the game hands down

        • Anonymous

This is a quality weapon through and through. That 20 int ensures you don't need quality infusion but cold on weapons that scale well with both strength and dex. Great weponz

          • Anonymous

I saw someone using this in pvp where it would glitch: when they performed the weapon art, if you choose to rush the player during it, suddenly it would transform into the lifesteal fist grab attack

            • Anonymous

              >make weapon require 20 int
              >have it scale d when fully upgraded yet dex scales higher despite having the lowest requirement

the boss attacks aren't the only things that're delayed when it comes to elden ring

does the best damage type in the game (pierce), has like the best range out of every colossal weapon, does insane damage, has a broken and spammable skill, this is like a top 5 weapon in this game

                  Check this out

                  Fallingstar Beast Jaw
                  Great Turtle Shield

Two-Handed Sword Talisman, Axe Talisman, Spear Talisman, your choice for the 4th but here's some examples: Shard of Alexander, Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman, Ritual Sword Talisman, Two-Headed Turtle Talisman, Retaliatory Crossed-Tree (the crouch attack one), Blade of Mercy, etc

                  Rakshasa Helmet + Gauntlets + Greaves + Leda's Armor

Spiked Cracked Tear, and your choice of Opaline Hardtear, stamina regen tear, Bloodsucking Cracked Tear, or the stance break tear

Boom, you have a fantastic FSBJ build. Oh and its Quality so level Strength and Dex together but don't worry about Intelligence

What a "dungeater defiling" moment for them to nerf its stance damage on weapon art.. its as If idk Myazaki, colossals are meant to stagger and stance break enemies and now they only have high base damage going for them

                    • Anonymous

Spear talisman, axe talisman, charged heavy thrust counter.

One of the few things that can exceed the damage of anvil hammer charged heavy without insane buff stacking.

Bunch of slobbering pond scum on this page saying "duhh me use this on invaders, me win so good" when I've barely seen anyone use this in 250+ hours invading, even at high level. Gankers like to imagine they're clever but they're all running the same suboptimal STR/DEX/INT/FAI/ARC quality builds with +9 somber weapons like most people who play this game, spamming the same PVE easy-mode skills that suck in PVP. Nope, this is an invader's weapon, because none of you losers know how not to panic roll. You just mash roll at the first sign of danger and die. Or, even better, you try to chug because you don't know your flask loses to any decent ranged attack. I don't keep track of how many invasions I've won, but if I were estimating I'd say the Beast Jaw has won me about 200 invasions, including against mean 3 person ganks at Radahn's or elsewhere. Not mean enough, I'd say.

This will break the stance of most humanoid, human sized enemies in three two handed light attacks. Greatshield knights, black knives (including Alecto), even Omens (not the ones with horns IIRC).

I am a Ganker. This is my Invader-beatdown stick. There are many like it, but this one is mine. I will Mimic Veil. I will follow you to the Host. I will let you get comfortable. I will spam the utter heck out of this with 35 mind and the shard of Alexander and watch you roll to your inevitable exhaustion, and death. I am a Ganker. And you're another dead invader.

As stupid as the stat requirements are, this weapon ultimately ends up being the best colossal in PVP and one of the best in PVE. Best range in a class which has deceptively little range for some reason, good damage, and an Ash of War to shut down and interrupt ranged spammers while also doing pierce damage instead of strike, granting it the same benefit thrusting weapons do on counterattack. Its also great in PVE to let you take advantage of being distant from bosses with good damage for cheap, something most other colossal weapons can't do even with swappable ashes of war. Use this thing with the FP regen talisman in the DLC and you'll essentially have it available most of the time.

Do note I said Colossal Weapon though, not Colossal Sword.

god tier weapon for gank squard.
1 player using it , you need to dodge and run away.
2 players using it , you can't fight back anymore.
3 players using it , you can't do anything.
700+ damage in pvp , long range aoe and stunlock , with just 13 fp. WTF!

Were Fromsoft high when they made this weapon? Let's give a weapon a high requirement in a stat, but it won't benefit from it. Making a build around this requires an 20 int investment, but it won't be utilized. Basically a waste in stat points.

                                  • Anonymous

this thing is still broken asf. A 2 handed R1 still does 23.4 stance damage, and the skill still stops the bosses' stance bar from regenerating. also the damage is still insane

                                    • Anonymous

I don't understand why a 20 int weapon has poor int scaling. Either give better int scaling or lower the int requirement. Why are str/int weapons so lackluster?

most use i've had out of this is farming the farum azula dragon for gravel stone, this thing is the weapon equivalent of somebody that i used to know

Think thrust will save you? No. You’ll still lose to epee and any L2 AND r1s from great swords and above. But your L2 can win trades against most ranged spam so that’s a perk. And the range catches people off guard. Basically you’ll get one shot if you r1 into storm assault but you can vigor check other mages from range. If you’re more strength than int, just spam storm blade instead.

                                            Pros:
Longest reach of all colossal weapons
                                            Shiny crystal thingy
                                            Great damage

                                            Cons:
                                            Hate mail
                                            Death threats
                                            Being labeled a sweat
                                            endless whining for a nerf
you have to fight that THING

as this is the only colossal weapon to do pierce damage, I wonder how effective it is at getting thrust-counter damage

                                              • Anonymous

The nerf was completely understandable, but if they're gonna do that, they should get rid of the completely pointless 20 int stat dump in the requirements. Only reason I haven't bothered with this thing, because visually, I love it.

                                                • Anonymous

Why, just why, is this a quality weapon? I think the scaling should be B strength D dexterity and C intelligence at +10 ( maybe even B intelligence because there are so little somber strength/intelligence weapons.

                                                  • Anonymous

I was thinking of Jaw build run, but this nerf... i guess Fromsoft thinks Blasphemous is enough for casual players.
Anyways it is time to move on to next game.

                                                    • Anonymous

I don’t mind the stance damage decrease too much since it is still an amazing weapon. It is the longest colossal weapon and does pierce damage so you can get some pretty meaty damage either those counter hits. Also the ash of war is a spamable ranged attack on a slow weapon so it provides good utility in that aspect. The thing that hurts this weapon the most for me though and why it is not on most of my strength builds is that 20 int requirement which you get very little out of scaling wise.

                                                      • Anonymous

I dont really think the weapon art nerf matters that much. If you're using the weapon as a weapon instead of a big glintstone staff, then you are still gonna be able to stagger the enemy.

                                                        • Anonymous

FromSoftware when they realize they accidentaly left a single colossal weapon in the game that is viable in PvP: "Nerf it guys, nerf it! Even though there are about 20 weapons with more spammable attacks, nerf this! Big bonk sticks aren't allowed to be good!"

                                                          • Anonymous

"With its sharp point, this colossal weapon can skewer foes" no thrusting attacks. ahh, elden ring, oh elden ring

                                                            • Anonymous

The ash of war is still very good. for a slow colossal weapon having a decently quick range option is quite useful. The stance damage might be low now but its still good for keeping up stance damage along with the regular attacks.

Also a spammable fast range attack is never going to be a bad thing

                                                              • Anonymous

On one hand, yes, it absolutely needed to be nerfed. 33 poise damage per attack that can be fired rapidly is broken. But they just went completely overboard with it, like they seem to love to do. 7 stance damage is so pathetic, I’d honestly feel less insulted if it didn’t do any at all. You’re going to kill whatever boss you’re fighting before you stagger them. Does it not make sense that a massive bolt of gravitational energy from a giant void beast’s jaw would do a lot of stagger damage? It should do at least 15 per strike. That would mean you’d only get about 1 stagger per FP/Stamina bar, which seems pretty fair. But 7 stance damage is just pitiful.

                                                                • Anonymous

33 to 7 (close to 80% cut) seems a bit excessive on paper? Was it really that much of a problem dueling against other meta builds, skill levels being equal? Not really interested in its performance in gank scenarios; the power of Jolly Cooperation throws off everything.

                                                                  • Anonymous

                                                                    • Anonymous

AoW is now just a physical version of Thunderbolt. Decent but not bonkers like it used to be.

                                                                      • Anonymous

                                                                        • Anonymous

                                                                          • Anonymous

The WA may no longer stagger like crazy but it does decent damage at quite a long range. Also this weapon is deceptively long so that helps it greatly in PvP and doing pierce damage is great. And also the weapon itself does enough poise damage that even with the nerf you can still get plenty of poise breaks. This weapon is also just super cool since you’re wielding the jaw of an alien.

                                                                            • Anonymous

Part of what made Amygdalan Arm my fav weapon in BB and same reason here. It’s a damn space beast that shoots gravity beams and I’m swinging its jaw around!! YEAAHHHH

                                                                              • Anonymous

Y'all need to calm down about the nerf, yeah the thing doesn't stagger everything but it's still good. It's a Collosal Weapon that does Pierce damage, that alone is insanely good. Then it has the ability to have a ranged attack built into it. I play PvE only, and even I thought this thing was a bit imbalanced. It is still a great weapon, even if you can't stagger everything from a distance.

                                                                                • Anonymous

This thing still staggers most enemies and bosses with two charged R2s easily, and doing pierce damage alongside its hyper armor charge attacks works very nicely even if it's not 100% physical damage. Yea sure the weapon art doesn't stagger enemies in a few bursts 10 years away but it makes up a ton for the weapon being slow to swing and it's still a great tool for picking off enemies in crowds or doing some ranged damage on a boss playing it safe. Very fun colossal post-nerf still recommend 10/10

                                                                                  • Anonymous

20 investment in INT hurts considering how little it ends up scaling with it, but the bling of this weapon is too attractive. I mean it's glossy obsidian imbued with purple nuances of gravity and made from the jaw of one of the coolest looking bosses out there...

                                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                                      • Anonymous

                                                                                              • Anonymous

I don't know if this was inevitable to happen, but it really sucks how you can get used to how a weapon works, only for the rug to be pulled from under you. I don't do PVP, and I feel like this was nerfed because of that. If it were an immediate balance problem, they would have changed this weapon from the start. I loved Elden Ring, but this past update has ruined my PvE experience. I'm done playing.

                                                                                                • Anonymous

These nerfs need to f**king stop, at least they do for PVE. This nerf just like every other one is about little bit*ches crying OP, OP every time they run into a player with more skill and the way they protect their fragile egos is the go-to excuse of the weapon being "broken" and how they wouldn't have lost the duel if giant-crusher had the same poise damage as a shortsword FFS.
From Software doesn't give the least amount of f**ks if the FSBJ staggers Omen or banished knights to the point they can't trade or retaliate. This is about little bit*ches feeling entitled to beat players that are more skilled than they are.
Some of the talismans have a different tier of strength for PVP and PVE they need to do the same with the weapons in order for players who don't do multiplayer not to get penalised because of a vocal minority.

Not much of a "Gravity" bolt anymore - nerf may have been necessary but this was too harsh.

                                                                                                    • Anonymous

The damage on counter hits plus spear talisman makes it perfect for trading hits with.
