- The Steam data tracker website, SteamDB, has recently listed Unknown App 2778580” under the DLC section for Elden Ring, marking its first update for 15 months. This leads some to believe Elden Ring’s first major expansion Shadow of the Erdtree is coming soon - Often when there is a change in the backend of a Steam listing, it means there could be something coming soon. Elden Ring Tarnished Edition
FromSoftware, Inc. has officially announced that “ELDEN RING: Tarnished Edition” will launch on the Nintendo Switch™ 2 in August 28, 2026.
This definitive edition of ELDEN RING includes the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, originally released in June 2024, along with several new additions: four exclusive armor sets and a new customization feature for Torrent, the Spectral Steed, offering three unique appearance variants.

The two new starting classes, the Heavy Knight and the Idus Knight, each debuting with unique gear. The Heavy Knight is tailored for early aggressive melee dominance, featuring a robust, heavy-plated armor set that is more likely seen in the much more later parts but now a starting set for a new character. In contrast, the Idus Knight is a dexterity focused archetype according its lore description. Equipped with the with the new Idus knight set, a distinctive, lightweight armor offering tailor-fitted for mobility with for the early game.
Beyond these class-specific inclusions, the Tarnished Edition introduces four new armor sets that is modeled from the former FromSoftware’s previous titles items. Most notable is a reimagined set inspired by Lucatiel of Mirrah from Dark Souls II; while it retains her iconic set, the design has been reworked with a more expansive armor placements on the design. The original design was more a armor vest but this new version covers a tremendous amount of more skin than the original. Additionally, two other sets draw clear inspiration from the designs of Henri of Astora and Horace the Hushed from Dark Souls III. These versions are stylized reinterpretations—often featuring adjustments to cloth pieces, shoulder guards, and capes—to ensure they feel like authentic Elden Ring items rather than mere carbon copies. While the fourth armor set remains under wraps, these additions collectively provide both new and veteran players with fresh "fashion" endgame opportunities.
Included as well is the new torrent customization options that would include three new looks. One is confirmed to be a Night's Cavalry Set, where Torrent can be seen with their distinct horns but now sports the black caparison of the Night's Cavalry. Another changes torrent to a bright white color as seen in the image below.

In these unfamiliar territories, players unravel the dark truths of the world while encountering others who pursue Miquella's path with their own hidden agendas.

What to expect from the Shadow of the Erdtree Expansion
Given FromSoftware's previous releases and the fact that the expansion is being announced more than a year after Elden Ring's official launch, we speculate that this content is a fully-fledged expansion meant to add significant content to the game.
Unlike the Colosseum Update, which featured content that had already been hinted at with the base game, the Shadows of the Erdtree expansion should feature entire new areas, weapons, equipment, bosses and discoveries. The zone features on the image for the game are already different than any available in-game at the moment, and it is likely to expand on the Lore and background of the world.
The expansion features its own "mini logo" which is often a signal for a large content expansion, but the main driving force behind the content size speculation is the amount of time that it has taken FromSoftware to reveal that the content is in the works.

Anonymouscan anyone explain why these low iq spoiler culture gremlins put all the DLC content infront of every page instead of underneath it? like for example if you're looking at weapons it shows all of the DLC weapons FIRST. it makes no sense at all.

AnonymousNever understood why ER is celebrated. While DS2 is being critisized for its authentic mechanics which ER adopts and scales up disproportionally only to increase difficulty. And yes Ive beaten both.

AnonymousOnly genuinely fun boss fights are Messmer and Midra. The rest are over-tuned gimmicky spammy shitfests

AnonymousWhere are the last boss on the map? Before you complete Elden ring

AnonymousI wish they might add a dlc update which add more spells/weapons, since I feel there quite a few things that make no sense why they weren't implemented in the game. Though, I think that will never happen. As Fromsoft has never done something like that before, to my knowledge. This would also involve adding the new items to the dlc to location to get them. Finally, whenever they release a dlc, that typically mean they are done with the game, and don't plan on returning to it.

AnonymousDear FromSoft,
I don't want any more DLC, I just want a long cutscene / short movie showing the fight between Placidusax and Bayle when they were both in peak condition (which SotE alludes to).
Sincerely,
Some random you almost certainly won't listen to.
Anonymousits hilarious the amount of misspellings there are on this page

AnonymousBetween the scadutree blessings, the new cristal tears, the enemies and bosses moveset, the new weapons' attributes, the difficulty spikes, etc...
I'd say the difficulty is similar to the base game's, but there's a twist that makes it look more difficult than it really is. Most players became over-reliant on dodging and phasing through attacks with 0 damage taken. It ain't exactly a bad thing, but the experience can become mundane when rolling is valid for everything. However, lingering huge hitboxes, attack patterns with great lunge forward, attack frequency designed to rollcatch, etc. Seems like from software is brute-forcing you out of the confort zone rolls give you, while giving you the deflecting hardtear as the very first tear in the dlc and scadu blessings boosing absorption in absurd amounts to encourage blocking and guard counters more.
This time we gotta adapt to reducing damage and reserve the rolls for the unblockables, since guarding at the right time is the dominant strat here and guard counters are stronger than ever. I know people should play however they want, but if they won't adapt to situations and prefer to stick to their guns before experimenting for the sake of finding a fun playstile, this dlc will be impossible for them.
AnonymousI think if you can beat the game and DLC with starting equipment only, without picking up any item other than upgrade materials, then you've mastered the game.
RL1 is a challenge but beating the game that way means the starting class will decide your play style, so you've got essentially 10 ways to beat the game.
Not being able to pick up items means being locked out of infusions as well, so no bleed unless you start as samurai, and of course only the default ash of war. Instead of trying to find a better build the player is forced to learn timings and when to attack, using the full moveset of the weapon.
Anonymousso i laid radahn and his whatever facehugger. got all stuff and done with the DLC. finished scadutree 18 and ash 9. overall a good dlc gave me some nice hours. but also gave me some rage moments like enemys killed in air droped their loot but it stayed in air. the huge cannon imp droped something epic but it stayed in the air when he died. also some enemys are overtuned really overtuned! relentless attacking small to no oppenings. bosses where cool desgined. Rellana Messmer Midra felled first try. others like Radahn or Gaius are a pain. i would recomend for having fun with the DLC start a new char without any game+. i tried first with my oldest OP char NG+ 50 or so and it was imposible the HP pools where insane for bosses.

AnonymousI hope that this was the last content for Elden Ring, because after finishing the DLC I am too exhausted with this empty open world and overtuned bosses that have a shitton of health and damage.
Don't get me wrong, Elden Ring is a really great game, but I like the more compact level design style like DS3 or Bloodborne.
AnonymousJust a load of Sekiro trash shoehorned into ER. Every single boss is a spam-fest dialled up to 11.

AnonymousIt was stated to be roughly the same size of Limgrave, perhaps larger.....

AnonymousThis DLC somehow feels like a poorly balanced modded Skyrim

AnonymousReally Shadow of the Erdtree is the logical progression of "more Elden Ring". The highs are higher, the lows are lower. The spectacle is doubled, but so is the tedium. I don't know if I'll ever have time to finish it. 7/10.

AnonymousI'm only 5 hours in and I've started to sneak/run past most enemies. I don't want to fight a mini-boss every 5 minutes. It's a crap way to play a game but it's a crap way to design a game. Maybe it will get better idk, but at the moment I much prefer the base game.

AnonymousI want to see something like co-op scaling in dlc ?
I dont know what it call but if I solo I can hit boss with 5xx damage , but if I have 2 co-op my hit that used to have 5xx damage turn to 3xx damage.
like more HP and also more resistance , I want this info.
AnonymousI wish challenge runners good luck trying to beat the game RL1 with no scadutree blessing.

Anonymous
AnonymousHere's my prediction: If you spend hours theorizing on the story how the DLC will tie it all with any level of investment, you'll absolutely hate it. If you started looking into the lore after the DLC and like it, you'll find the other guys as weirdos retrojective-ly. If you love playing the base game, then you'll love the DLC. If you work at a game company just to siphon your costumers' money with little production as possible then you'll thoroughly hate this work and Fromsoftware as a whole.

AnonymousJust commenting on the difficulty subject so many people are talking about.
Went through two optional bosses right off the bat with 1 fragment.
Jar evergoal, and multishot crossbow invader.
Felt fine, mobs you will two shot but they will also mess you up.
Bosses feel tough but youre free to run around and power up if you want.
AnonymousDual cast magics and incantations. I wish From could somehow implement that. Powerstanced seals which would create a stronger version of certain incants, maybe like 55 percent extra damage or something nothing crazy but make the spells/incants flashier.

AnonymousIt's not the size of limgrave. It's so much bigger than I thought it could be. My only gripe is how so many bosses have become absolute damage sponge. That one particular death knight who kept spamming his grab after blinding me with that bulls**t ass lightning and resetting 2 min worth of fighting can go to hell.

AnonymousAdmittedly there was some predictions that were not complexly aligned with DLC...

Anonymous
AnonymousHow far can I advance? like if I burn Tervore will I lose access to DLC?

Anonymous
AnonymousGuys theres a new ash of war that teleports you to your summon this changes everything

AnonymousAll I want are 2 new AoWs: 'Cast Sorcery' and 'Cast Incantation'.
Not only would this bring hybrid catalyst weapons into ER, it'd allow the creation of your own custom hybrids, which would add a whole new dimension to combat (especially PvP). Give every infuseable weapon a hidden sorcery / incant stat of 100 + upgrade level that appears when the respective AoW is added and even some of the most boringly predictable weapons become guessing games, while still not being better than staffs / seals for spell damage.
AnonymousWould be awesome if you were allowed to have multiple ashes of war on your weapon if playing as a warrior. Allowing you to put 2 ashes of war in the memory slot.

AnonymousDo you think Melina will follow and hunt the player in the Lands of Shadows, if you previously chose the frenzied flame ending?

- NOT SPOILER FREE -
I've watched a few of those "I've played the DLC for 3 hours" videos and I've LOVED almost everything that I saw. I say almost because, admittedly, from the videos I've seen at least, I've been fairly disappointed with the new sorceries, but that sentiment might also stems from the fact that almost none of these video creators actually discussed said new sorceries in their video. I understand that there are 8 new weapon classes, combining to a total of 100 new weapons alltogether, and that's obviously considered "more hype", but as someone who's actually going to bring a Intelligence Sorcerer into this new DLC as my main character, I couldnt help but be disappointed that none of these guys talked lenghtly about the new sorceries (or even staves?).
Is there any video creator that you guys know that spoke more lenghtly about the new sorceries available in the DLC?
These are the ones I'm already aware of : Gravity Missile (pulls enemy for a set amount of time), Glinstone Nail+Glinestone NailS (which, for now, just seems to be a basic Pebble + Star Shower - so that was really confusing to me), a spell that I don't know the name of but is basically a Two Full Moons together spell.
Curious to find out more though.
AnonymousMy theory of the story trailer:
1. In the beginning the dead body shown in the story trailer was the Gloam-eyed Queen (aka the mother of Godskins), who was killed by Maliketh before.
2. Marika took something out of her, which looked like Golden Hair
3. The dual tower of bodies looked like the base of the Erdtree and the position, where Marika kneeled with that Golden Hair is the entrance of the Erdtree, after the Morgott boss fight.
4. This way Marika created the Golden Order, but Shadow was also created.
5. Miquella = St. Trina (the purple shot in the trailer with the flowers)
6. Messmer = I don't know, but he looks like the third child of Marika and Radagon.
AnonymousI can't wait to roll past trash mobs #385-421 in order to fight yeet-spam boss #39 in return for an amount of runes that stopped being worthwhile 20 levels ago and a weapon / spell / spirit ash that's of no use at all on this build. Again.

AnonymousMy one dream for the DLC is a Twinblade Trick Weapon whose AoW does an attack that separates it into Power-Stanced Straight Swords and vice versa.

Anonymous
AnonymousI think elden ring needs a new co op system. I think that 2 people should be able to play on 1 save file.

AnonymousDLC NEWS:
1 new curved sword (PKCS)
1 old and very difficult boss (Soldier of Godrick)
22 new death blight swamps where you can't ride Torrent
AnonymousFor every one of the following encounters in the DLC, the DLC will lose 1 point in my Metacritic score:
- Evergaol Malenia re-fight
- Godskin fight
- Astel fight
- 90% of all new weapons are bleed weapons
- copy-paste-dungeons
- the miniboss in a new dungeon is just a random Crucible Knight
- Blight Swamp
- new garbage bosses like the Elden Beast
- more op weapons and spells, where every noob can one-shot you in pvp by just spamming the AoW
- an empty world without any incentives for exploration
AnonymousI hope they add new weapon affinities, an Int+Fth one in particular. That alone would fill things out nicely.

AnonymousI hope it has good loot, Lothor the invincible needs more yumyums.

AnonymousI hope they add some better AoW's for the fist, claw and whip weapons, I feel these are very limited and have no real unique move-sets just for them.

Anonymous
AnonymousAccording to Miyazaki, this new Elden Ring location will be roughly the size of Limgrave in the base game “if not larger.”
Well, I think this is pretty small for a DLC which is priced at 40 USD, no?
Anonymous
Anonymouscan't wait to gesture Ring of Miquella and start to cry happy tears while entering first area of DLC.

AnonymousNEW CONFIRMED DLC LEAKS AS OF 3/8/24:
* Godskin kumite-style boss fight featuring 37 back-to-back godskin apostles & nobles
* Two new Great Runes: one grants you temporary invincibility but permanently reduces your attack power to zero and the other transforms you into a giant human foot
* New field boss: Astel, Unnaturalborn of the Shadow - nine times the size of a regular Astel and all of its attacks are 100% undodgeable
* 22 new body types for character creation, plus TWO new hairstyles
* Mandatory Evergaol boss - re-fight Malenia but now if she hits you once she instantly procs rot and recovers back to full health; upon defeat drops a single Arteria Leaf
* Penultimate Boss: Margarot, Lost Son of Morgott - Has 137,000 hp and a grab attack that if it lands it deletes your save
* Torrent can fly
AnonymousI'm curious... Can we still enter dlc, after killing Maliketh? or burning Erdtree?

AnonymousThe Land of Shadow will be an older version of the Lands Between, similiar like the darkroot garden in the DS1 DLC.
Miquella left his flesh in the cocoon, like Ranni did with her body and moved to the Land of Shadow. This is the reason, why Miquella doesn't respond to Moghwyn. Miquella will be a supporting mentor for the player and he will tell the player, why he is in the Land of Shadow, but we don't know yet. We are currently using his mount (torrent) and he will reveal himself in a similar way like Melina did. So the speculation, that he will be a boss is just wrong.
Messmer the Impaler is the third son of Radagon and Marika, this was already approved by Miyazaki in an interview with IGN. This is the reason, why he has red hair and looks very similiar to Malenia. Sounds logical right? All of those speculations, that he is just an alias for Miquella is just bs.
If you don't believe me, thats fine, but many points listed above were already approved by many trustful people in the internet, for example Miyazaki himself in the IGN Interview. :)
AnonymousMany people think that Miquella is a new boss in the DLC, but it looks like he/she/it will save and cure the land.

AnonymousThe Elden Soulsborne community: How does it feel that your comparisons and predictions are wrong?
Me: I have no idea. I'll tell you went to happens.

AnonymousI'm waiting for the uninspired Evergaol Malenia boss fight in the DLC. I'm also very excited about another Lake of Rot and Blighttown kek poison swamp.
But FromSoftware won't release the DLC this year, because they are currently busy with another Armored Core game, that every player wanted so badly.
AnonymousLemme guess, bosses include Marogrit, cousin of Margit and Morgott. Mohg son of Mohg, Godskin Trio, and Astel Naturalborn of copy and paste.

AnonymousI'm forseeing an early 2027 release. It's written in the stars

Anonymousthey won't pull a xenoblade 3 dlc reveal. Trailer will drop 25th of february and dlc at april or later most likely

Anonymousim 100% sure the dlc is already ready and all but they wont do a xenoblade 3 dlc style reveal a week earlier for 2 reasons: they want the hype and the dlc is dropping in april or later because fiscal year. My bet is the trailer is going to come out the 25th of february and the dlc 1/2 months later

You know, I was making a list about what Demi-gods where good and evil and what not, and I place rykard, Mohg, ranni as evil, and malenia, radahn, godwyn and miquella as good. Then I though “wait miquella has the power to make people fall in love with him, maybe just maybe, miquella is actually super evil but using his power is making everyone fall in love and make them think he is pure hearted, the used Mohg to raise him to godhood while framing Mohg for kidnapping him” though is this just a theory I made up, I really have no major reason to support this but I’ll like to know what you think

Of the power of my beloved DLC, child of Miyazaki.
Well, I will not give him up.
For he is all that I have.
Anonymousthe last 3 DLCs got released between 2 months and 4 months after the release announcement, so a release in Feb is highly unlikely

AnonymousMy DLC prediction is that it's going to be awesome and everyone will love it, except for the FextraLife comments who will complain about literally everything

AnonymousThe "meta" pvp level started out at 150 because when we were originally playing through the game most of us casually ended up around that level after beating the game.
Then we lowered it to 125 because that was a much more achievable level to reach by just beating the bosses necessary to beat the game and maybe all remembrances.
So do you all think the "meta" level will increase again when we get the DLC bosses?
Anonymous
Anonymous

People were not joking when they said that the open world in the DLC was incredibly empty, I got to wonder what the point was, there's literally almost nothing going on in 2/3rds of the map.
