Ironic given its source, but this set is excellent for coop. Enemy aggression is heavily dependent on whether a player has recently hit them, and rolls with this armor qualify. If you're fighting a boss, dodging as you regularly would will now help keep pressure off the host, and you don't even need to have the full set on. Just wearing the gloves will give you a pseudo Shabriri's Woe at next to no cost.

My favorite set in the game. The mini stagger effect is good for small enemies, especially when paired with weapons that don't stagger enemies very well. It's also very cool looking in general. The cloak envelops your whole body, the barbed wires give you a distinct silhouette. The helmet is beautiful, I believe the mask is based off of Anglo-Saxon masked helmets, the conical design is taken from Norman helmets. It might not be a direct design inspiration, but the finery on the helmet with its 'crown' reminds me of the helmet worn by Saladin in Kingdom of Heaven.

This + iron helmet = ultimate drip. I like to use with my Braggart's Roar Guts Greatsword build and it fits really well.

deal small stagger on hit. Works with flying birds, dogs, naked npc, shabby enemy as servants etc.
            plus can finish skeletons

            • Anonymous

you don't need full set. just use one piece of it for nice 2 damage and mini stagger. It's more useful then you expected, expecually on skeleton, birds and low poise enemy

              • Anonymous

75 damage per roll? let's assume max physical negation is about 50% and you still get 37.5 damage for "free". this seems like a solid pvp armor if not for pisslow poise it gave.
after some build test, you can use helm and glove with something like solitude + bullgoat talis and still be at optimal poise at 125. 18 damage per roll is still cool though.

                • Anonymous

Anyone know the PvP poise damage? I remember fighting someone wearing a piece while I was also wearing one and we could both interrupt each other by rolling, although not often.

                  • Anonymous

I like putting the chest and leg pieces with the altered banished Knight helmet and scaled gauntlets both because it gives you the poise number but also because you look like a knight cowboy :D

                    • Anonymous

Put on the gauntlets in catacombs to easily kill skeletons just by rolling when they are trying to revive

                      • Anonymous

A functional armor set against PvE enemies who have little poise/armor. Interrupts them when rolling in their direct vicinity. In terms of fashion, there is potential for mixing up. Consider combining the chest piece (altered or unaltered), Vagabond Greaves and helm, and Messmer Soldier Gauntlets for that darkened steel in one hand and leather glove in the other. This suggestion is strictly fashion-oriented; consider other options for poise, or other needs.

                        • Anonymous

While the main selling point is the damaging rolls feature - i want to praise the fashion as well. The armor looks very unique - it is not just armor for protection, but has certain artistic flare to it as well.

The helmet looks like a crown from certain angles - particularly from behind.
The cape hides engraved shoulder pads.
The gauntlets have a little demon face on them.
The greaves feature kneecaps also with some sort of face or engravings on them.

This set made for wonderful screenshot fodder, especially when the character is starring in the distance. The cape is so goddamn thick - it looks like an armor in on itself.

Elemer: "Oh, you killed some of my variants and now you think you can do the same to me, the original bell bearing hunter?". Me: "Come on, I killed the Dragonbarrow variant. Shut up and give me my runes.".

                            • Don't know if anyone mentioned this but this set is pretty useful against black knife assassins.
dodge rolls stagger them and cancels their dodges/attacks in most situations especially their grab attack by rolling towards them

                              • Anonymous

I think this armor also will stagger if you bump an enemy while using the unique beast claw ashes and run attacks, I’ll try to do some testing but if anyoneknows for sure or can test it first it would be greatly appreciated

Just discovered that rolling into the big jar enemies bounces you off and cancels your roll. Wonder what other enemies this can happen for

                                  • Anonymous

For some reason wearing any piece of this makes your jumps not break clutter, so you can platform on top of barrels and candlesticks like a champ.

                                    • Anonymous

A piece (one armor part) of this set is PRETTY GOOD against the final boss of the DLC if you want to Stance break/posture break him. Specially good if you go UNGGA BUNGGA with Jump attack power stancing or any build that can deal decent stance damage. Beat the boss with the help of stance breaks due to this armor (since you roll into the boss MOST of the time you can keep the posture damage intact).

Killed the entire gate front ruins camp just with rolling. Love this set. Someone needs to do a roll only run

Was fighting the guy at sol wearing this set, level 90. Was on half health with on heal flask, until I panic rolled into him, killing him and saving me. Never letting go of this set.

This set should damage enemies who grapple you. Like if an Iron Virgin grabs you, you'd hit her back directly to the weak spot

Wear the gloves at all times, you'll never get stuck between mobs trying to roll out and die this way. Doesn't happen a .lot but when it does, oh boy is it infuriating,.

I've been wearing the gauntlets on my usual set of armor and it's impressive how often that 1 point of damage staggers enemies when rolling. I've seen it interrupt black knives' attacks.

                                                  • Anonymous

If you wear this and use the lions claw aow, the flip counts as a rolling hit. Pretty useful in certain scenarios

The left arm clips through the cape when jogging on medium load, theres no changes to the size of your arm that you can make to make it not clip while jogging, it is such a minor issue but it bother the **** out of me, its been like this since release and its been the only thing keeping me form doing a full run as a Elemer cosplay, help me

Just a few notes from personal testing: Can be buffed with spells such as Flame, Grant Me Strength or Golden Vow. Anything that buffs the base damage of the character will buff this armour. This set DOES NOT activate any of the “repeated attack” talismans, like the Sword Insignias and Swaddling Cloth, although its damage will be buffed if the Sword Insignias are activated via other means. It also does not benefit from either the Windy Crystal Tear or the Crucible Feather Talisman.

Am I the only one noticing that if you were this armor set you don't break things when jumping into them? I thought it was an update to the game, then I removed the armor and everything broke again. Rolling smashes thing still though.

                                                            • Anonymous

You aren’t wearing the gauntlets with your optimized build for fashion. And you know it. Colossal goes away, DPS meta comes out and you get spanked. You get a point down and a well deserved sh*t pot.
You aren’t as slick as you think you are.

I love the set, but i hate that it aimpunches in pvp. I would love to use it, but it's so annoying for the opponent.

                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                  • Anonymous

Note: While not great for bosses, this set is LOVELY for regular enemies. It's hits knock things out of attacks very easily, and knock them backwards normally. Meaning you can clear space by just rolling through hordes and getting them out of your way. Don't use it for damage, use it for utility.

                                                                    • This set is great in the open world, through dodging you sometimes interrupt the enemies attack which is a neat gimmick to this awesome looking Armor.

                                                                      • Anonymous

I really like this set, probably my favorite in the game only a few others come close like the Eccentric set but I wish you could alter the armor as a 'restored' version. Not necessarily without the briars or pristine. Just being able to make the armor look worn but not tread through 7 kilometers of salty swamp water while pouring gravy on yourself.

                                                                        • Anonymous

                                                                          • Anonymous

                                                                            • Anonymous

They are also the only reason that rolling with this would deal dmg

                                                                              • Anonymous

Lower poise than the Knight Set which you can buy in the first 20 min of the game. I get the added bonus of the roll damage but still, 51 should be the bare minimum for sets of this tier.

                                                                                • Anonymous

Fromsoftware too: only adds cape alteration and skip adding restored version for rusty sets and additional variations.

                                                                                  • Anonymous

Fun fact: with the giant cusher R2 or lion's claw this armor will slightly stagger enemies for tiny damage during the first part of the animation when next to them.

                                                                                      • Anonymous

Those of you on PC, if you don't like the barbed wire but like the rest of the set theres a super simple mod to remove it from the armour and the sword on nexus. Looks incredible without it imo.

                                                                                        • Not sure if you guys are aware for Elden Fextra, but comments are producing errors and you cannot submit them when responding to comments – claims they are empty. I’m also getting JS script error popups.

                                                                                          • Neat little interaction: wearing a piece of this armour set will remove your ability to break objects by jumping in no-combat areas like Roundtree.

I discovered this when I tried jumping on the candlestand going to the twin husks shop, and ended up on TOP of the stand rather than breaking it. To my surprise, you can even leave a message there! Further testing around the area found I could not jump to break tables, armour stands, or chairs with the Briar armour on, but rolling into them still works. Wonder if that's intended, or it'll be fixed down the line.

                                                                                            • Anonymous

                                                                                              • Anonymous

Bumping into enemies with this counts as a weak attack and enemies that deflect weak attacks like Crystallians will cause you to stagger. This can lead to you getting stunlocked if you get too close to an enemy like that until their combo finishes, because they keep moving in to you which keeps triggering your stagger animation.

                                                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                                                  • Anonymous

                                                                                                        • Anonymous

I could imagine being able to avoid taking damage, damaging and staggering a foe, while falling into a jumping attack could be a bit obnoxious.
