Designing classroom technology for every child starts with understanding how children learn. Together with Digital Promise, this work brings classroom practice and learning science closer together. In collaboration with educators, families and EdTech partners, we are co-designing and evaluating teaching and learning innovations – strengthening tools and approaches to reflect the realities of neurodiverse learners. By combining research with inclusive EdTech design, we are helping each learner reach their full potential – supporting the whole child.

We are on a journey to redefine play and reimagine learning. Because play is how children learn naturally.
Om os
Children are inherently curious. They explore the world through play and develop the skills to navigate it. They learn to solve problems, come up with ideas, test concepts and interact with others. Play is how children learn best – at home, in the classroom and in communities. We work together with caregivers, educators, policymakers, researchers, NGO's & other organisations to create opportunities for children to learn through play.

In 2025, we awarded DKK 1,726 million to support children’s wellbeing, learning and development (2024: DKK 1,545 million). This brings the total amount distributed to our partners since 2021 to more than DKK 10.5 billion. Our work is grounded in the realities children face today. Too many still encounter barriers to learning, wellbeing and opportunity – particularly in contexts shaped by crisis and inequality. Together with our partners, we invest in the systems that shape childhood, from families and schools to communities and society, to strengthen access to education, creativity and play. In 2025, we also sharpened our strategic focus. This means working with fewer, larger partners and prioritising proven approaches with strong potential to scale – where impact can be measured, sustained and expanded, and where we can co-invest with others to reach more children. Because meaningful change for children requires not only commitment, but clarity, collaboration and the ability to reach more children over time. Nearly nine in ten children in middle - and upper-income countries play online games. As digital experiences have become part of everyday childhood, the question is not whether children play online, but how those experiences support their learning, wellbeing, and development. Together with UNICEF, the LEGO Group, Joan Ganz Cooney Center at Sesame Workshop, and Games for Change, we are launching a new three-year phase of the Responsible Innovation in Technology for Children (RITEC). RITEC is a global initiative focused on ensuring digital technologies are designed with children’s best interests at heart. It brings together research, practice, and children’s own perspectives into a shared framework. This helps define what quality digital experiences look like for children and offers practical guidance for those creating them. At its core, good digital play supports children to explore, learn, and connect in ways that are safe, meaningful, and engaging. It respects children’s rights, reflects their diverse realities, and contributes positively to their development - emotionally, socially, and cognitively. Supporting initiatives like RITEC is part of our commitment to building the conditions for children to thrive. It also shows what collaboration can unlock. When organisations come together around a shared goal for children, we can help shape a digital world that supports them — today and into the future.

What makes a childhood a good one? There is no single answer. Childhood is shaped by where we grow up, who surrounds us, and the opportunities we are given. What feels safe, joyful, or full of possibility in one place may look different in another. To understand what makes a good childhood, we must listen to children themselves. For Kaka in Uganda, whose teachers have been supported through PlayMatters, a good childhood means being able to play, to learn, to be cared for, and to have the right to speak up with confidence.

Today the LEGO Group shared its 2025 Annual Results – marking another year of strong growth. For us, this success helps drive our mission: a childhood for all. Through the Kirk Kristiansen family’s decision to entrust the LEGO Foundation with 25% ownership of the LEGO Group, the Foundation receives 25% of the LEGO Group’s dividend distribution. This support enables us to invest in partnerships, research and programmes that help children learn, develop and thrive. Congratulations to colleagues across the LEGO Group on a remarkable year. Together across the LEGO Ecosystem, we continue working to expand opportunities for children everywhere.

When we talk about strengthening Europe’s future, there is a natural place to begin: childhood. This week at the EU Employment and Social Rights Forum in Brussels, we joined policymakers, partners and changemakers from across the European Union to discuss Europe’s future - its competitiveness, resilience and social cohesion. The evidence is clear: many of the skills people rely on later in life are built early in childhood. And the strongest returns on investment come from these early years. Yet too many children across Europe are falling behind - both in their learning and their wellbeing. This matters not only for children themselves, but for the future of our societies. If Europe is to remain resilient, cohesive and competitive, children must have the opportunity to develop the skills that help them thrive in a changing world. That means working together. Governments, philanthropy, educators and communities each have a role to play - aligning on what works and scaling it together. We believe that investing early and consistently across childhood is one of the smartest choices Europe can make. Ensuring children develop creativity, resilience, collaboration, and imagination - capabilities that help the next generation build the world of tomorrow with confidence. #EUSocialForum
