Hills of No Return
Head to the Cabin and Speak with your Comrades
After starting the game, you'll be tasked to make your way to the cabin at the Hills of No Return in Hernand, and you'll find a couple of Greymanes angry and grieving over the loss of Giles, among other of your comrades. Speak with Oongka and make your farewells to your fallen brethren. After you've made your goodbyes, speak with the rest of your comrades, Marius and Ross. After Kliff says a few words and pours one out for his boy, head on over to Ross, who will be south of the cabin by the graves, and speak with him. He'll then say a few words about how he thinks they've been betrayed. After speaking with Ross, head on over to Marius, who'll be by the horses, who will inform you that he'll try heading into town to find out if anyone knows anything.
Enter the cabin at the northeastern end of the camp with Oongka. You will find Shane, Yann, Naira, and Duane setting up for supper, with Duane being a bit more heated compared with the others. After a while, a Greymane will come rushing into the cabin, saying that the Greymane Leader, Jian, has fallen, as well as alerting your group about another ambush before falling on the cabin floor with a sword stuck on his back. You and your friends rush out to meet the enemy.
Help Your Friends
After fending off a few Black Bears from trying to take you out, you spot Oongka to the northeast being slowly overwhelmed by the enemy forces, lend him your blade so that he may survive this carnage. Kliff fights off the Black Bears and tells Oongka to escape the skirmish. You'll spot Naira to the north, fending off a few Black Bears, but she can be seen slowly struggling with their numbers. Charge in to give her a helping hand; there will be quite a few of them compared to Oongka's attackers, be more vigilant, and mind your spacing. Yann is fighting off a couple of Black Bears over to the west. He seems to be handling himself well till he gets a little bit too complacent and gets slashed on his right leg, causing him to fall into the river. Rush in to defeat the enemies he left behind.
First Boss Fight
After saving your friends, Myurdin shows himself and challenges Kliff to a fight, mocking him as he does. Fight off the Black Bears as best you can; as many as they are, it would be in your best interest to take out the archers so that it'll be easier for you to funnel in the melee fighters, as well as Myurdin himself.
You'll be able to learn a few skills from Myurdin by means of the watch and learn feature, though these will automatically be learned, you'll see it on the top left corner of the screen, shown as "Learning in Progress...". Myurdin's attacks are heavy-hitting, emitting a red glare with every swing, combined with fast charging attacks. Be careful not to get too close or too stagnant around him, as he'll make you pay for this mistake. Fight as hard as you can, but you are expected to be defeated in this part. After your health reaches 0, a cutscene plays where Kliff gets hit by an arrow just before Myurdin finishes him off and pushes him into the river.
Corridor of the Void
Go Through the Corridor of the Void
After Myurdin kills Kliff and pushes him into the river, he awakens at an unknown place. As the objective says, move forward; follow the path ahead. This mission serves as a tutorial for the game's movement. You'll learn to do the game's basic platforming, such as jumping, jumping to a target, vaulting, wall climbing, and moving while crouching.
Where to get the Blinding Flash Skill?
After that, the Realm of Uncertainty quest starts, which is where you'll learn the Blinding Flash skill. You'll need to unlock the door by holding L1 + R1 to assume the Blinding Flash stance, and while holding R1, press L1 again to begin concentrating light and to reflect it to the sphere above the door. Keep holding the light on the sphere until it activates, and after it opens, make your way through the door.
Your light in the dark
Past the door, you'll find 3 moving platforms that you'll need to traverse. Once you've made it across, continue following the path and head into the next area. This area will be dark, but this is where you'll be taught to use the Lantern when exploring dark areas to help illuminate your surroundings. Follow the glowing pipe to the next area. You'll then come across a courtyard with a strange artifact at the end of it. Step on the artifact to conclude the quest.
Three Saints Falls
Meeting Sebastian
After seeing a glimpse of The Abyss, we rejoin Kliff at the side of the river of Three Saints' Falls alongside some fishermen. Sebastian calls out to you, asking you to get indoors and to stay a bit longer to recover. There will be fishermen nearby whom you may observe to learn how to fish. Hold L1 on the fishermen to observe them and to learn how to fish. There will also be a Floppy-Eared Bulldog for you to pet and add to your knowledge. Sebastian is an artisan at the Wycliffe Mappery who helped Kliff regain his strength after the Black Bears' ambush.
Expanding your Inventory
Kliff says his farewells, telling Sebastian that he'll be heading off, and Sebastian lets him know that if he decides to head into town, he should check Hernand Inn, informing him that news travels fast and that there might be some information for him there. A couple of Bleed Bandits arrive and beat Sebastian, extorting him for money. Defeat the Bleed Bandits, time your blocks right to stagger the enemies, and perform even more attacks before they can retaliate. You'll receive x1 Medium Bag after you defeat the bandits. In the beginning, you'll start with 20 slots in your inventory, not including the inventory that your mount has. These Medium Bags will add 3 slots to your inventory.
Head to The City of Hernand
After defeating the Bleed Bandits, you help Sebastian up, and he asks if he can come with you to Hernand. Follow the path northeast up the hill from the Wycliffe Mappery. Sebastian mentions that walking to Hernand won't take long, but riding there would be much better. He then offers you a wild Herspia horse he recently found, saying that he won't let him ride him, but maybe he'll take a liking to you. Follow Sebastian on horseback west, crossing the bridge on the way to the City of Hernand.
First Sealed Abyss Artifact
Past the bridge, at Meandering Hills, there will be 2 Sealed Abyss Artifacts, both of which are easily missed, the first one will be in what seems to be a birdhouse on the right as you cross the bridge and as for the second one, keep following the path to the city, but keep an eye on the left side of the road for a sort of small memorial, the Sealed Abyss Artifact will be on it. Picking up the Sealed Abyss artifacts will trigger challenges that you will need to complete to unseal them. Picking these up will trigger the "Sword of Trials I", where you'll need to defeat 3 enemies within 30 seconds with a sword, and "Shield of Unchanging Will I", where you'll need to defeat 3 enemies with a shield. Doing so will allow you to unseal the Abyss Artifacts within. Next to the second artifact will be a Bekker Large Shield, a Raspberry, an Apple, and an Orange.
You arrive at the campsite just outside of Hernand Castle and at the City of Hernand, and a cutscene is shown where Kliff and Sebastian part ways, concluding this quest, and starting Chapter 1: The First Encounter.
