A soldier will escort you to the Howling Hill, a property occupied by the House Serkis. Once you speak with Barden Middler at the center of the camp, a cutscene will play to introduce you to Damiane and her origins. At the end of this cutscene, you will unlock her as a playable character.
Crimson Desert Damiane Information and Guides
Damiane is the second playable character in Crimson Desert, a guest of the Marquis, and she has travelled to Hernand to escape the troubles in Demeniss. She has her own unique questline that can only be progressed or completed while using her, and similarly, the main quests can only be progressed by playing as Kliff. You can only control one character at a time, and whenever you switch to another character, you will leave your character in the last place where you made the switch.
While playing as Damiane, you will gain access to a skill tree, unlocking special actions, abilities, and other forms of combat. Similar to Kliff Skills, there are also 3 different node colors in Damiane's skill tree, namely the Blue nodes at the center, Green nodes at the lower left, and Red nodes at the lower right. Some of the skills share the same name as the ones from Kliff's Skill Tree, but will have a separate progression. Skills acquired from Damiane's skill tree can be used on their own, but some may require meeting specific conditions before they can be unlocked.
Damiane's kit allows you to access different weaponry, such as the Pistol, Rapier, and the Greatsword. You can also learn skills that can modify your combat actions, including handling different weapons, or when engaging in Unarmed Combat. Unarmed Combat lets you engage in a hand-to-hand or kick fighting style and take on enemies with your bare fists and legs. During Unarmed Combat, you don't have to rely on weapons, but instead, you will display dexterity and martial arts techniques that suit Damiane. Some skills allow Damiane to summon her supernatural prowess, similar to Kliff, where she can lift and move heavy objects with ease and conjure elemental spells.
When you first start playing as Damiane, you'll gain access to the following starting weapons:
- Spencer Pistol
- White Wind Rapier
- Absolute Justice Greatsword, Sydmon Dagger
- Demenissian Gold-Decorated Shield
Each weapon type has different attacks that make it more suitable for dealing with different encounters. The Rapier and Pistol (firearms) are best used when dealing with single enemies, like chipping at the large health pool of bosses, or clearing small camps, while the Greatsword and the Shield are suitable for fighting a large group of enemies, like taking down a bandit camp. A rapier lets you move quickly between enemies or when fighting bosses, and is the ideal weapon that you can use to dodge and evade incoming attacks. You can use the Sword Flurry, which is a dodge and attack combo that lets you strike enemies quickly. For Pistols, you will get Shooting, Charged Shot, Evasive Shot, Quick Reload, and Focused Shot. These skills modify how you use Pistol and can improve your damage and mobility while using the weapon.
The Greatsword has a unique action where Damiane can perform an overhead sweep and send enemies caught in the AoE flying. This is most effective when you have a swarm of enemies coming at you, and you can pull off this attack type to send them flying. Alternatively, you can also use the Shield weapon to use Shield Toss, where the shield bounces between targets before making its way back to Damiane. There's also the Shield Sentinel skill that fights alongside Damiane, but it requires you to use Focus. Just like Kliff, Damiane can also switch between her Primary and Secondary weapons by doing a Quick Swap. This also performs a powerful strike by pressing [L1 + L2], and is immediately available to Damiane.
Overall, Damiane boasts a kit that can handle different types of weaponry. She displays combat approaches that highlight swift attacks and rapid movements, in addition to her proficiency in wielding the Greatsword, Rapier, and Pistol. So if you prefer using these weapon types and combat style, Damiane is the character for you. However, you need to note that you cannot progress certain quests, specifically main quests, as Damiane.
