Stats in Code Vein 2 are the numerical values that define the Attributes, Resistances, Defenses, and Damage capabilities of the player character. These are determined by the Blood Code, current Level, Equipment, and various Formae which grant bonuses for each core Stat. In Code Vein 2, Stats are affected by several factors, such as Status Ailments from Enemies or Bosses, and can also be improved through Equipment Upgrades, or leveling up by consuming Haze at the Mistle (Checkpoints).

Code Vein 2 Stats and Attributes System Overview

In Code Vein 2, the player stat system revolves around the Leveling System, along with 6 Attributes that can grant Benefits when your character is not Overburdened. Attributes start with a base value that grows as the player equips different pieces of Equipment or travels with different Companions. This combination of various systems forms the backbone of character progression, allowing for a tailored approach to combat and exploration in the game's post-apocalyptic vampire world. The process of leveling and allocation is simplified. The screen will show the increases to HP, Stamina, and Attack Damage (Weapon, Bequeathed Forma, and Drain Attack Power) by spending Haze.

A returning mechanic, Blood Codes, offers preset stat spreads to guide build choices. Each code also comes with its own unique Traits when certain conditions are met. Meanwhile, the Attribute Burdens introduce a dynamic layer, where equipped gear temporarily adjusts stats; for instance, the VK Greatsword has a C+ rating for Strength and an E+ rating for Dexterity. When worn, this equipment will also apply a Burden of 11 and 5 on Strength and Dexterity, respectively. If the total Burden equipped does not go beyond the player's current Attributes, they will not receive any combat penalty. This mechanic requires players to set their Equipment while enabling a quick switch of compatible weapons even in Combat. Resource pools like Health, Stamina, and Ichor are directly tied to specific stats. Vitality (VIT) affects HP and LP, Fortitude (FOR) governs Stamina, and Mind (MND) influences maximum Ichor, with the demo’s 10/18 Ichor indicating a potential 50% capacity boost from MND-enhancing gear. This interconnection ensures a balanced resource management system critical for sustaining fights and unleashing powerful Forma abilities.

Companions can further enhance this system by temporarily maxing out a stat—such as a +20% Strength boost from Lou—or adding buffs like a +10% Willpower (WIL) resistance.

What are Stats in Code Vein 2?

In Code Vein 2, Player Stats, or Statuses, define the player character's core abilities, including damage, defense capabilities, resource management, and movement. Stats are divided into 6 categories, and each of these categories are focused on specific areas of building a character. The system expands on the original Code Vein, offering more customization and dynamic interactions that fit the game’s updated Soulslike combat and time-travel story. Player Stats can be viewed by going to the Menu and selecting Stats or any of the Equipment. Below, you'll see all of the Stat categories in Code Vein 2 (Click the categories to be redirected to the page section for easy viewing).

Code Vein 2 General Stats

Level: Represents your growth. Increased by absorbing haze at a mistle.

HP / LP: HP represents your health. LP represents your link to your partner. If you run out of LP, you will lose the Link Traits granted by your partner. If your HP reaches zero, you will die. Even if you die, your partner can revive you via Restorative Offering, but will then become incapacitated for a short time.

Haze: A resource used both to level up and as a currency. Upon death, your haze remains in that spot until you return to collect it. However, if you die again before doing so, the dropped haze is lost.

Stamina: Required for actions such as attacking and dodging. If your stamina runs out, you will be unable to act and will stop guarding

Ichor: The blood of revenants and horrors, which are converted into energy to activate Formae. Using Active gifts consumes ichor, with more powerful gifts consuming greater amounts of Ichor. Ichor is recovered whenever you strike an enemy with your weapon or block an enemy's attack. Passive gifts are active even when you are out of Ichor.

Code Vein 2 Character Attributes and Burdens

Code Vein 2's Equipment mechanics come with the Burden system, which determines the effectiveness of the Dodge action and other combat abilities. When certain Items are equipped, this will place a specific amount of Burden to the character, and when the total Burden of the equipment exceeds the player attributes, this will apply Penalty effects (Overburden) that will persist for a duration that is relative to the penalty level. This system requires managing the Attributes and Equipment to minimize penalties.

Code Vein 2 Dodge Effectiveness

Dodging in Code Vein 2 is affected by the Burden on the Attributes. If the burden on all of the six attributes is less than half for each, it will change to a high-performance quick step. If two or more attributes become overburdened, it will change to a low-performance heavy roll. A balanced Burden and Attributes will retain the normal dodge, with the regular dodge effect.

  • Quick Step - Burden is less than half for six Attributes
  • Normal - Normal Burden/Attributes
  • Heavy Roll - Two or more attributes are Overburdened
