Map Mechanics & Exploration Guide for Code Vein 2
What are Dungeons in Code Vein 2?
Exploring the dungeons in Code Vein 2 introduces unique mechanics that differentiate it from its predecessor. Understanding how to read the terrain and clear "fog" is crucial for 100% completion.
- Dungeon Structure: The maps listed below correspond to specific Dungeons and Ruin layers found throughout the game world. Each area is a labyrinth containing shortcuts, vertical layers, and loot.
- The Importance of Mistles: Activating Mistles (indicated by the
icon) acts as your primary checkpoint. Always prioritize reaching these to save your map progress. - Resurrection Monuments and Return Stone: You can resurrect your character at Resurrection Monuments (usually found before fighting a Boss). The Return Stone can teleport you back to the dungeon entrance.
- Enemy Alerts: Note the Red Warning Triangles on the maps (e.g., Putrid Darkborn). These indicate high-threat elite enemies or Bosses that guard valuable loot.
What Are Map Jammers in Code Vein 2?
A new environmental hazard in Code Vein 2 is the presence of Map Jammers. These are grotesque, organic structures resembling small trees fused from human torsos. For a list of all Map Jammers, please visit the All Map Jammer Locations page.
Map Jammers play a pivotal role in exploration:
Defeating the map jammers found in each area will reveal the surrounding terrain information on the map."
- Fog of War: When you enter a new dungeon, your map may be obscured or "jammed," preventing you from seeing the mini-map.
- Priority Target: Upon encountering a Map Jammer, destroy it immediately. Doing so lifts the electronic fog, permanently revealing the layout of the immediate area, highlighting hidden paths, and marking nearby loot locations.
