Between technical conversations with developers and daily check-ins with his Chinese coworkers, two features have become part of how he actually works. What's a tool in your everyday workflow that's earned that same kind of quiet trust?

There's a version of the smart glasses future that's already arrived: cameras that don't ask permission, indicator lights that can be hidden, and platforms that decide what you're allowed to build before you've even asked. Innovation feels different when it's rooted in community. Last week, Raag Harshavat presented at the Turtle Island: Women in Tech Conference to learn with Indigenous women leading the future of tech. Alongside community & ecosystem builders, we shared how we build smart glasses that respect people, not distract them. What's one thing you want tech to be better at representing? 

When designing smart glasses, adding more technology isn’t necessarily the hardest part. The challenge is making sure the technology doesn’t compromise the object people actually have to wear every day. In Even Journal EP. 7, Principal Eyewear Designer Philipp Haffmans shares a perspective shaped by more than 30 years in eyewear design: tech eyewear still needs to obey the fundamental rules of traditional eyewear. The shape has to work. The proportions have to feel right. The frame has to sit naturally on the face. And the technology has to fit within those constraints, not dictate them.
