AI-Powered AP Automation That Just Works

About us

Finofo gives finance teams a faster, cleaner way to run payables, with the controls leaders expect. We pull in invoices and supporting documents (purchase orders, receiving records, statements), match everything automatically, and surface line-level issues early, before they turn into delays or bad payments. Approvals, audit trails, posting, and vendor payments all run in one connected flow with real-time visibility. Everything you wish your ERP could do for AP, now available without replacing your ERP.

I've been writing JavaScript for over a decade. At this point, I don’t hear product ideas anymore — I see them. Like Neo, but instead of green code it’s React component trees and questionable state management decisions. So when someone said: "Chrome extension that tracks every manual AP action and calculates cost per invoice," the Matrix started running. You see undecipherable symbols, I see content scripts, event listeners, state store, floating overlays (they HAVE to float, for some reason). It was already deployed in my mind. Version 2 had bugs. Version 3 fixed them. Version 4 introduced worse ones. We didn’t ship it. So it goes. Because after 10+ years of writing software, you learn: the best system is the one you never have to build. The code? This code HAS NO CODE. At Finofo, we remove the steps instead of measuring them. Which means the extension would’ve opened up, looked around… …and found nothing to do.

Measuring the ROI of your AP automation solution is tough, so we built a tool to help. It's a browser extension that plugs into just about any AP platform out there. Scrapes the DOM, logs user interactions, and computes the real cost of every manual action taken to process invoices - in real time. It would have been fun playing around with that data at scale to see where the real pain points are, but... While we'd love to help our competitors find their bottlenecks, we're a little busy building the future of AP. No need to measure the cost of manual entry if there isn't any manual entry in the first place, right? (plus, Happy April Fools' day.)

Imagine this. You're on a call with a CFO. They tell you their AP process is "pretty good." Instead of arguing, you say "install this Chrome extension on your AP tool we built and let it run for a week. Then let's talk again." A week later, the extension shows them exactly what every invoice costs their team to process. The chasing, the manual entry, the rework. Some invoices costing more to process than the invoice itself. We didn't build it. Happy April Fool's Day. But here's what I know from hundreds of conversations with finance leaders. That number is real. They just don't track it. When they finally see it, the conversation changes completely. That's why selling Finofo doesn't feel like selling. It feels like showing someone something they can't unsee. Ingested. Coded. Approved. Posted. Paid.

Charles Maranda and I have been sitting on this for weeks and I'm so glad it's finally out. A Chrome extension that calculates the true cost of processing a single invoice. You install it on top of whatever AP tool you're using and it tracks everything. Every manual step, every workaround, every chase. Then it shows you the dollar amount. Some of the numbers we saw during testing made us uncomfortable. And we're the ones who built it. Yeah, we didn't build any of it. Happy April Fool's Day. But I haven't been able to stop thinking about the concept since we came up with it. Because we didn't need to build it to know the answer. I've spent years watching finance teams live this reality. Real money, real time, wasted on manual work that software promised to handle and never did. That's why we built Finofo. Not a tool that measures the problem. A tool that eliminates it. Ingested. Coded. Approved. Posted. Paid. The Chrome extension is the joke. Everything else is real.

We just released a free Chrome extension that calculates how much each invoice costs your team to process. Not the software cost. The human cost. Every click, every manual entry, every minute spent doing work the software was supposed to handle. Prateek Sodhi wanted to send it directly to every AP vendor's sales team and let them explain the math to their own customers. We didn't build it. It's April Fool's Day. But here's what's not a joke. AP teams are burning hours and money on manual work every week because their software topped out and left their people to pick up the slack. I hear it from every finance team I talk to. That's why I've spent the last few years building the opposite. Software where there are no manual steps left to count. Finofo. Ingested. Coded. Approved. Posted. Paid. Happy April Fool's Day from people who actually build things at Finofo.

I joined Finofo three months ago. Last week, the team told me about a Chrome extension idea and asked if I could build the backend to calculate invoice processing costs in real time. I got excited. I started sketching the data model right away: • Timestamps per action • Cost mapping per role • Aggregation per invoice, vendor, and month • I even imagined a dashboard with historical trends 📊 Then came the twist… It wasn’t real. Happy April Fool’s Day 😄 But here’s the thing: the problem is real. In my first few months here, I’ve spoken with customers, joined calls, and seen firsthand what Accounts Payable looks like before automation. The inefficiencies aren’t hypothetical. They’re everywhere. And that’s what makes this work meaningful. 🚀 #FinTech #APAutomation #ModernFinance #AccountsPayable #InvoiceProcessing

I got pulled into a Slack thread last week with a spec doc titled "AP Cost Counter Chrome Extension." My first thought was this is a really cool problem. 1). Calculate the real cost of processing every invoice. 2). Track each manual action, map it to time, convert it to dollars. 3). Real time. 4). On top of any AP platform. I started thinking about the cloud architecture immediately. Lambda for event processing, DynamoDB for action logs, an aggregation layer that calculates cost per invoice on the fly. I even started sketching out the API contracts. It's not real. Happy April Fool's Day. But here's what four months at Finofo has taught me. The data that extension would have surfaced is not hypothetical. I've seen what AP looks like before our platform touches it. The manual work, the wasted hours, the workarounds that teams have just accepted as normal. I came to Finofo to build scalable systems that solve real problems. Turns out the problem is bigger than I expected and the thing we're building to fix it is unlike anything else out there. The Chrome extension would have counted the cost. What I build every day eliminates it.

We just launched something we've been working on quietly for the last few weeks. A free Chrome extension that sits on top of your existing AP tool and calculates the real cost of processing each invoice. Every manual review, every approval chase, every copy-paste into your ERP. Down to the dollar. We even thought about offering it free to our competitors' customers. Let them see what they're actually paying for. We didn't build it. It's April Fool's Day. Relax. But here's the thing. We didn't need to build it. We already know the answer. AP teams are spending more time and money processing invoices than most companies realize. And sometimes the cost to process the invoice is more than the invoice itself. That part isn't a joke. What Finofo does about it isn't a joke either. Ingested. Coded. Approved. Posted. Paid. No manual steps to measure. No cost to calculate. Happy April Fool's Day from the team at Finofo.
