At A Thinking Ape, we build communities.

About us

Mission: We build social strategy games that people play for decades. We create mobile games with a social core that engage players and provoke us with creative new problems. When we set out to make great games with massive online communities, we knew that we first had to create the ideal environment for building ambitious things. A place where brilliant and inspiring people could come together and build games that make millions of players happy. We realized that we needed to find incredibly talented people and get out of their way. Since then we've paid careful attention to how we like to work together.

  • We're hiring a Portfolio Growth Manager to join A Thinking Ape. This is a new role on our marketing time. Instead of specializing in a single channel, you'll run full-stack growth across our back catalogue of mobile games: ad monetization, store and product marketing, and light-touch paid, spanning both ATA and our sister studio DECA Games. It's a strong fit if you: • Have worked inside a mobile game studio (3+ years in the industry, 2+ in a marketing function) • Know ad monetization well, or are hungry to own it • Have genuinely built things with AI (a reporting pipeline, a scraper, an automation you actually use), not just chatted with it • Like fixing broken things and finding leverage rather than absorbing busywork Fully remote. For this role we are open to hiring someone in North America, South America or Europe. At ATA, we believe curiosity is a superpower, we make things people want, and we pursue ambitious goals with kindness and care. If that sounds like your kind of place, we'd love to hear from you. • We’re hiring a Motion Designer to join the Creative Marketing team at A Thinking Ape. This role is all about making ads people can’t ignore. You’ll create gameplay-driven video ads, social promos, event marketing, and app store creatives across multiple live mobile games, often shifting between wildly different visual styles in the same week. We’re looking for someone with: 🎬 Strong motion design fundamentals 📱 Experience creating mobile-first marketing creatives ⚡ Comfort working in fast-paced, high-volume production environments 🎮 Genuine interest in video game marketing and mobile ads 🧠 Adaptability, curiosity, and strong creative instincts This is a highly hands-on production role where you’ll own projects from brief to final export. A few things worth knowing: • Fully remote within Canada (preference for BC based candidates) • Must be willing to work Pacific timezone hours • Salary: $81,000 CAD • Small team, real ownership, visible impact • Portfolio required If you love motion design, mobile games, and the craft of performance marketing creative, please apply! • Last month, we brought our team together from across Canada for our annual company summit, with teammates joining us from Vancouver, Vancouver Island, Merritt, Edmonton, Saskatoon, London, Toronto, and the GTA. 💛 As a remote company, in-person time matters deeply to us. It gives us the chance to connect face-to-face, collaborate in new ways, celebrate our wins, learn from challenges, and strengthen the relationships that make our work better every day. Over three incredible days, we: ✨ Aligned on our 2026 vision and company strategy in leadership and full-team workshops. ✨ Celebrated 2025 accomplishments and surprised the team with new company gear. ✨ Strengthened bonds with a connection game and team-building terrarium activity. ✨ Shared an unforgettable evening at Havana in Vancouver, capped off by a surprise drag show! One of the best parts of summit week is welcoming newer team members into our culture and creating space for connections that continue long after everyone returns home. We’re incredibly proud of the team we’re building and grateful for the opportunity to spend intentional time together. So much fun was had and we’re already excited for next year. 🎉

  • We’re proud to share that our VP of People & Culture, Natania Mathany, was recently featured on the In The Flow of Work podcast by Topicflow 🎙️. Natania is deeply passionate about building intentional, high-performing cultures, and in this episode, she shares how something as simple (and often overlooked) as the 1:1 can shape the health of an entire organization. When work gets busy, 1:1s are often the first thing to slip. Not because managers don’t care, but because many were never given a clear baseline for how to lead. That’s when feedback slows down, coaching fades, and team standards begin to drift. In this conversation, Natania talks about how we approach manager enablement and cultural consistency here at ATA: ✅ Standardizing the minimum expectations for leadership while leaving room for personal style ✅ Treating 1:1s as a non-negotiable cultural habit ✅ Building a practical manager playbook to support new leaders from day one ✅ Shipping training in small, iterative modules instead of waiting for a fully built L&D engine At its core, this episode reflects something we believe strongly: culture isn’t built through slogans, it’s built through consistent leadership behaviors. We’re grateful to see Natania sharing her perspective beyond our walls and contributing to broader conversations about what modern People & Culture leadership can look like. If manager consistency, feedback, or culture-building is on your mind, this one’s worth a listen. 🎧 Listen here: https://lnkd.in/gQB9Dm_j

We’re looking for someone who: ✅ Has 5+ years of experience designing live events or content in free-to-play mobile games ✅ Understands live ops cycles, monetization, and player-driven economies ✅ Enjoys working with data, player feedback, and community insight to guide decisions ✅ Is excited to lead, mentor, and collaborate while still being deeply involved in design execution  Location: Remote within British Columbia, Canada  Salary: CAD $94,000  🔥 Learn more and apply here: https://lnkd.in/gKBTZBuV. • Holiday Giving at ATA! This year, we were proud to host Giving Week at A Thinking Ape from December 8–13, bringing our people together to support causes that mean a great deal to us. We focused on two long-standing partners doing vital work in our community: The Vancouver Food Bank and Backpack Buddies BC. To kick things off, ATA donated $2,500 to each organization, and invited our team to get involved in any way they felt comfortable. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our people, together we raised: ✨ $3,900 for the Vancouver Food Bank ✨ $3,120 for Backpack Buddies Every contribution, big or small, helps support families and children facing food insecurity, especially during the holiday season. We’re incredibly grateful to our team for stepping up and helping make a meaningful impact. If you or your teams are looking for ways to give this season, please consider checking out these two incredible organizations: 👉Greater Vancouver Food Bank 👉 Backpack Buddies BC Thank you to everyone who participated and continues to embody the spirit of giving at ATA. 💙
