We were pleased to learn that ONDA is also working on a strategy aligned with these objectives". In conclusion, a very well-appreciated opportunity for all of our sites to showcase what they do to support European aviation, how we can work more closely with our Comprehensive Agreement State, and how their activities directly contribute to achieving #Trajectory2030🛫 goals.

📊✈️ Our latest #EuropeanAviationOverview takes a look at the network in Week 13 – with year-on-year traffic flows up everywhere & globally ⬆️2.0%, except between Europe & the Middle East (⬇️51%). W13 key highlights: ✈️27,784 average daily flights: ⬆️2.5% vs W12  ⏰79.0% network arrival punctuality (⬇️5.8% vs 2025)  ⚡17K daily delay minutes with en-route ATFM delays ⬆️54% vs W12 & ⬆️26% vs 2025 – 73% of this caused by ATC capacity/staffing issues 🛢️$4.73/gallon for jet fuel as the Middle East crisis continues to disrupt global oil supplies (⬆️4% in the fortnight & double that of Jan). 📋 Briefing students from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation 🇩🇪 on #CivilMilitary priorities, especially in times of #crisis, at our HQ. The visit by the 23 students formed part of an international seminar on "Crisis & Conflict Management in European Airspace: Drone Activities and Airspace Security". 👉 Our Head of Civil-Military Cooperation (#CMC) MajGen Karsten Stoye supported by Edgar Reuber, Head #CMC Stakeholder & Business Management, gave the students insights into: 📌#EUROCONTROL's unique #CivilMilitary role in European #aviation & our key priorities 📌the unique tools & solutions we use to ensure efficient #airspace management & alignment between civil & military airspace users✈️ 📌the evolving challenges that next gen fighter aircraft pose for European airspace. Really good exchanges 👏 with a dynamic & highly motivated next generation of policy & security professionals.

📊Just out: our new #EuropeanAviationTrends paper assesses how the crisis in the Middle East & Gulf region is impacting European #aviation. ✈️⚡ It highlights the additional challenges this crisis is posing to the European aviation network, with 📉reduced traffic flows 🚫airspace closures 🚫airport closures ↪️diverted flights, emergency & repatriation flights, and rerouting distortions. Key impacts identified by our paper: ⬇️59% flights to/from the Middle East – around 1,200 daily flights below the normal 2K ⬇️56% when we add flights to/from the Middle East that overfly Europe, mainly to/from North America (-1,360 daily flights) ↪️1,150 flights impacted every day in terms of reroutings to avoid the conflict area & closed airspaces 📈206K km additionally flown by these reroutings every day 📈🛢️602 tons extra fuel burnt every day 📈🌱1.9K excess tons of CO2 emissions every day. 💬 EUROCONTROL DG Raúl Medina Caballero: "Nevertheless, the European aviation network remains resilient despite these impacts, with global network traffic ⬆️2% vs 2025 right now, and flows up 📈 to all other regions by between ⬆️4% & ⬆️23%. In all of this, EUROCONTROL as the Network Manager (#NM) continues to work closely 🤝 with #ANSPs, #airports and #aircraft operators & partner organisations in these difficult times, ensuring strong 💪 coordination and delivering transparent & objective reporting 📊 on network impacts to all its stakeholders." 🛬#PointMerge continues to expand📈 globally 🌍 with China 🇨🇳 now having 12 major #airports using Point Merge, the innovative method for sequencing arrival flows 🛬 developed by #EIH the EUROCONTROL Innovation Hub. Point Merge in key stats: ✈️adopted by 61 global airports ✈️used by 15/50 busiest in terms of passenger traffic (ACI 2025 ranking). 📊 Our new EUROCONTROL 7️⃣year traffic ✈️ forecast 2026-2032 initially expected strong traffic growth like in 2025 – but following the escalating crisis in the⚡Middle East & Gulf region ⚡ our forecast has been revised downwards. We incorporate the latest observed flight trends & route patterns up to early 2026, together with a comprehensive update of all forecast inputs, including as much as possible recent geopolitical developments – but we underline thatthe overall forecast is subject to ⚡very high & increased uncertainty ⚡as current events continue to affect adversely the global economic environment. In issuing this forecast, EUROCONTROL's #STATFOR team – drawing on expert forecaster inputs from across Europe – has aimed to factor in as much as possible key dimensions such as: 📈🛢️higher oil prices 🔀disrupted traffic flows ↩️re-routings ⚡other operational disruptions. Key predictions: 🔑11.3M ✈️ in 2026 in the #ECAC (European Civil Aviation Conference) area: underlying traffic momentum is solid 🛫 & we predict year-on-year growth of ⬆️2.7% (vs 4% growth 2025 vs 2024), but with a wide margin of ±1.8pp 🔑12.8M ✈️ a year by 2032 (base scenario) with average annual flight growth beyond 2026 of ⬆️2.1% (±1.8pp). This reflects a similar medium-term outlook compared to pre-crisis expectations. 🚩However, with full impacts uncertain & difficult to quantify, users are strongly encouraged to consider the full forecast range (low–base–high), given the exceptionally high degree of uncertainty linked to geopolitical risks, macroeconomic volatility & energy market instability. 🚨 #EASA & #EUROCONTROL have just published a joint Action Plan to strengthen the safety & resilience of European aviation amid rising #GNSS interference. The joint Plan defined with EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency defines a number of short, medium & long-term measures, including: ✈️ harmonised procedures 📡 shared monitoring & data 📘 updated guidance for crews & controllers (#ATCOs) 🤝 coordinated civil-military (#CivMIl) information exchange 🛠️ collaboration with manufacturers to improve avionics resilience. 💬EUROCONTROL DG Raúl Medina Caballero: "The Action Plan concretely supports our Member States and aviation partners as we work together to ensure the evolution and resilience of aviation's critical infrastructure – one of the core goals of EUROCONTROL's #Trajectory2030 strategy. ✈️A successful final validation exercise for SESAR Network Trajectory-Based Operations (#TBO) Project Solution 3, which aims to improve flight path synchronisation & predict aircraft trajectories more accurately in the future. Strong 🤝 partnership between #EUROCONTROL, Leonardo, BULATSA & ROMATSA demonstrates how innovation & collaboration are shaping a more integrated & resilient European network. 🚀 Key achievements in this validation exercise include: 📌 Technological innovation: Introduced advanced methods for exchanging #OLDI coordination and transfer messages between participating #ANSPs. 📌 Performance validation: Response times of #OLDI over #SWIM remained within acceptable limits, with no degradation compared to legacy FMTP. Further offline analysis will provide quantitative validation. 📌 Realistic validation environment: Even in shadow mode, operational realism was ensured - controllers from #BULATSA & #ROMATSA monitored live frequencies and manually input instructions. 📌 Seamless data sharing: Successful publication of #OLDI messages to the #EUROCONTROL Network Manager Validation Platform (#NMVP) via Leonardo's SWIM Yellow Profile Connector Dispatcher (OSCD). 📌 Improved trajectory synchronisation: Better alignment of local and network trajectories enhances 4D trajectory prediction (position, altitude, time), supporting more efficient operations ✈️ 💡 Co-financed by #HorizonEurope & coordinated by #EUROCONTROL, this phase brings us closer to a comprehensive final validation.
