Even if you’ve never touched a key before, Simply Piano makes learning to read music and play modern and classic hits... well, simple! By detecting notes from your real-life piano or keyboard using the microphone, Simply Piano follows along as you play and tailors its teaching to your progress. It’s like having a personal piano tutor wherever you go.
What we love: How easy it is to learn songs we love. Simply Piano’s library boasts more than 1,000 songs, ranging from Chopin to Coldplay, “Für Elise” to Frozen, Bach to Blackpink. We’re enjoying learning the music theory behind how some of the most memorable songs are written, including common chord structures, different musical genre styles and advanced playing techniques. The app works with any acoustic or electric piano and adjusts to our current level of experience and musical tastes, personalising our learning journey.

Quick tip: Finding it hard to keep up with a faster song? Slow down the tempo and turn on Practice Mode to help you perfect your playing without pressure. Simply Piano recommends practising for at least 10 minutes, three times a week, in order to keep your piano skills tuned. You’ll go from largo to allegro, prestissimo!
Meet the creator: Simply was founded in 2010 in an effort to make learning as enjoyable as playing a videogame. Yuval Kaminka co-founded the company alongside his brother Yigal and their late friend Roey Izkovsky. Kaminka was inspired after noticing his nephew avoiding piano lessons by playing his Nintendo. Alongside Simply Piano, Simply’s suite of educational apps can teach you to sing, play guitar and draw.
