Media is difficult. People like free. But free, ad-supported content often leads to clickbait articles that are low quality. Ad revenue doesn’t responsibly support the costs associated with publishing an article (not even The New York Times survives on ad revenue alone). We launched a paywall because it allows us to pay our writers, editors, photographers, engineers, and artists responsibly. It also allows us to invest in better journalism. I love that that Juggernaut gives a platform to South-Asian/Desi Americans to share a perspective that was so deeply lacking when I was growing up. Although they ignite much needed discussions on racism, colorism, islamophobia, I wish that they would give more attention on Hinduphobia and the Hindu genocides going on in different countries. With that said I loved reading the Juggernaut and I’m glad I subscribed to it.
