When writing this I'm not talking about the exclusives, company, or the people that are behind paramount I'm writing this to talk about the app as a whole. When using the mobile app it will just randomly freeze after a while of just letting it sit the app will just crash, the only way I can get the media player to work is by skipping back 10 seconds or closing the video. Randomly the UI will not respond forcing me to close and reopen the app. The buffering is so bad that it sits for a minute just to load 30 seconds, and this isnt a problem with the internet connection im using as ive used several different connections that all have a high speed. The constant interruptions, glitches, UI problems, and bad video quality is so bad that i cant recommend using the mobile app. In my experience the desktop version was stable enough to get through several episodes before the media player getting stuck in an endless buffer, and the console version lags when navigating the app but the video plays perfectly. If they put time into this app instead of just trying to compete with other platforms i honestly feel that paramount would be an amazing streaming platform but as of right now it just feels more corporate than anything with the constant rushed updates and new glitches every 2 seconds. Im giving this app 3 stars because the desktop and console versions are somewhat better and some exclusives are honestly worth watching (if the app doesnt crash constantly when trying to watch).

Works, but has glitches

I have been using the app for a number of months, and it generally works well; however, there are a few problems that need to be addressed. 1) The most annoying is in the AppleTV device. We have both 3rd and 4th generation devices and they are both up to date. In news, the local news stations are supported when the application is first started. If the channel is changed, say to 24-hour news, it is not possible to go back to the local channel without unplugging the AppleTV device and plugging it in again causing it to reboot. 2) Also in the AppleTV device, if the local channel is active and the user leaves the application, it is not a given that when coming back to the app the local station will still be available 3) In the iPad application, although neither of the above problems are present. The handy channel guide is available to see the upcoming programming. However, if there is any interruption or freezing in the stream and the application is in full screen mode, when the stream resumes, the screen goes back to thumbnail mode and the application is frozen. To unfreeze the application, it is necessary to restart the application (pull up from the bottom, then swipe up to remove the application from active memory, then restart). Paramount needs to fix these bugs. Then it would be worth 5 starts.

Constant loading issues and buffering that never ends

I’m sad to have to give the app only 2 stars when it has so many shows that I really love on it. When you pay for a service, you expect it to work more than 40% of the time. It should function right all the time, given the occasional hiccup. It is clear by going to their support section that they have constant issues with streaming, freezing, buffering, and the app crashing. It’s clear because they have a plethora of steps for every device possible. Force close, restart, un install, reinstall, reset your modem…… and on and on it goes. People do not want to have to constantly take all of these steps just to be able to watch what then want. Half of the time I can’t watch anything because I get a never ending spinning circle with a black screen. This isn’t an issue on just one of my TV’s, it’s an issue on all three of my smart TV’s, as well as when I switch over to any of my 3 apple TV’s. It’s an issue on my iPad and my phone as well. I have 2gig internet, and I reset my router weekly, so the error isn’t on my end. It’s your app Paramount. It needs your attention before customers get to the point of frustration that they want to cancel. Oh another quite annoying issue is that if on the occasion the app is working and im watching a show in one room. When I go to another room to continue watching, it never saves where I paused at. So I have to fast forward back to my place and pray I don’t get the spinning circle of doom. Very frustrated and disappointed.

Great app, just too glitchy

The application on my phone works well but the console version (PlayStation) is nearly impossible to watch on and that’s the way I usually like to watch it. If I fast forward or rewind to much on the console version it breaks the app and I can no longer do anything (pause, rewind, fast forward, even leave the show) so I’ll have to reset my whole app and have to load in and have to fast forward all the way where I left off and cross my fingers that I don’t miss where I left off because if I mess up and have to keep going back or forth it’ll mess the app up all over again, another frustrating thing is the captions don’t always work. when I turn them on, it’ll stay off and out of no where it’ll start working in the middle of my show and then it will randomly stop later on. Lastly, when it was known as ABC when you fast forward it goes from 1x to 2x to 3x and it used to be like 1x = 10s. 2x = 15-30s. And 3x = 45s-1m (I forgot specifically 2x and 3x) but now it’s only 2 seconds, 6 seconds and 12 seconds, why?? If you’re watching a movie or a long show and the app breaks down (which it happens commonly) you’ll have to fast forward for like 5 mins just to get to where you were. It’s so frustrating, I love the app and the shows that are on it but it’s hard to spend my money for this app if it takes me like an hour an a half just to watch a 40 minute show. It’s really not worth the struggle, I really hope you guys can fix the app and at the least for now change how fast you can fast forward.
