Using Excel is like second nature to me now.
The Numbers Guy 64
I started using a spreadsheet software about 33 years ago actually I started out after I became a supervisor at the company, I worked for 27 years. I actually learned how to use this type of software on Quatro Pro which is what the company had at that time. I basically used it to track my employee’s productivity, earned hours and attendance. After about 2 years in this position the company made a switch to Excel. I immediately found it to be easier to use and had more capability than the Quatro Pro. I then started using it for the same purpose as well as tracking my budget performance each day of the month as well as projecting my budget needs for the upcoming physical year. When I then moved to a position in engineering for this company for 8 years being in supervision. In doing this I learned to use it in even more ways. First, I learned to track productivity of new machine tools I was responsible for or to track actual efficiency of machine tools that I had recently brought into the plant versus what my projections that I used to get approval for the purchase of. Later I learned to use Excel to assist me in speed of making programs for some of these CNC machine tools by importing dimensions from Excel to the CAM software we used. I also later learned to use Excel to import and export dimensions to and from the 3D modeling software that I used. When I took a new job as the aluminum processing quality manager with a Japanese auto manufacture that begins with an H. I used Excel to design all my quality gages in the same way as before with my 3D modeling software that I designed and purchased. This was very important since the plant I went to work for then was early in the startup process. Once we got into full scale production, I used Excel to important data from our leak test machines to track and quantify the total leak problems that we experienced. This helped me determine which defects that were repetitive which needed my departments engineers attention and which ones were truly random.
STUCK WITH ONLINE USE ONLY! WHAT??

I have had this account for many yrs. Why suddenly am I unable to use it on my desktop but instead have been "Forced" to only use it web based? taht is crazy! Also, why are so many users having on going issues, and yet, oh look, not a SINGLE response from a CSR on your own apps feedback page? Really? I can't count the people (and Im talking into the hundreds) that are complaining about the inability to get any help from CSR's with Microsoft Co. YOu can hit us up for feedback but you can't respond to those who write in, attempt to all (phones used to work!), or even post info on here. That's really sad for a company your size. I finally reloaded Excel and "think" its working without being required to go webbased again,...which FORCES me to save to OneDrive and yet I need corp. files saves (securely due to HIPPA Regs), on a external hardrive back up. I'd ask "how" but I already see not a single perso has revievved a comment from ANYONE at Microsoft. Come on guys, enough already. Get us some help out here. PS I and thounsands of others on socal media have already been warned....DO NOT UPDATE WORD app or it will be rendered useless. So I have not updated taht, out of fear! Sad when we have to fear a company we have trusted so many yrs! Pls get CSR people on phones and answering emails, and respondiing on here asap! Or you may find ppl begin to use other apps. You have been the best, so "was" block busters" and a few other has beens,....lets not go down that road. Just get help to help us!
Unaddressed bugs that kill the app.
LABeachGuy
I'm an avid Excel user. The windows version is solid, I've been on the mac version for about 3 years and Microsoft is ignoring a few big issues that kill the experience. 1) Nothing... absolutely nothing.. stays on the clipboard. It falls off, I'm constantly recopying data I just copied to paste it into another Excel sheet or workbook. 2) The right mouse button/click option randomly stops working, so I have to reboot the app (but works fine in my other apps). 3). Some form fields aren't large enough to display the formulas - example, Chart formula fields under the Chanage Source option, so they have to be copied into a 3rd party text editor to make changes and then pasted back in. In addition, you can't edit in the field or it starts selecting random cells and including them in the equation (if you delete or move the curser forward). Beyond all of that, I'm not sure why they decided to create a different layout? It's entirely different from the Windows version, so there's a learning curve. As an example, 4) the automatic formual option is a royal pain on the Mac. It gets in the way more than it helps, so I do all of the equations by hand. I'd be in trouble if I didn't know the equations.
Absurd
Youdon Needtaknow
free download, but can't save anything without a microsoft account AND a $70 a year subscription . That is after they triangulate your identity and devices multiple ways multiple times. Then their "verify you are a human puzzles" provide just about unrecognizeable garbage for photos, numerics and audio clips. You spend 10 minutes trying to satisfy their garbage puzzles and absurd identity triangulation for an hour; then go there how they apparently encrypt and protect your identity; loose the app completely for 30 minutes; then all of a sudden 3 hours later it's open and unuseable without a subscription fee and a microsoft data storage account. What a waste! On a similar but another note, who said tax payers wanted their tax money being used on crappy google chrome books in schools? WHO? They don't even work and I may go blind trying to read the screen and really my 14 year old has to practically sit on my lap in order for both of us to read the google chrome school issued lap top screen at the same time. Why is money just flowing to these kniving and poorly functioning companies?1?! Then the customer service 1-800 rep on the phone to verify I was not charged for this garbage is not even a representative in my country, not my fellow citizen, and not speaking my language. Got no where.
