OK, ebay development team reached out to me and said I should try deleting the old version on my device and install newer version; it still said I needed the latest iOS for the latest ebay app, but did allow me to 'Install an Older Version' of the app, so I believe I'm back at square one. A big time waster for sure just to get back to where I started. Now, if this thing functions properly, that's another story....
Extremely Frustrating Experience: No Support for an $840 Defective Item

I purchased an expensive and essential automotive device for $840—a purchase I critically needed just for my car to work. It included a one-year warranty, yet the device broke down after only two months. When I contacted the seller, they never replied. I then reached out to eBay customer service; they sent a professionally written email stating they don't allow these practices and that it goes against their policy. I was led to believe I would be refunded or that they would facilitate a resolution.To my surprise, they ended the email by suggesting I file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. Is that really all they can do? Unfortunately, this was a complete waste of money. They enable these practices by allowing big businesses to get away with this while crushing small buyers. I have a record of all correspondence between myself, the seller, and eBay over the last three months to prove this claim. I will update this review if necessary, but I am tired of "cliché" responses like "we are sorry this happened." My honest advice: stay away from eBay!
its not bad except for the messaging feature

i use this app on my mac instead of the site sometimes. if i goto "contact buyer" and try typing out a message it constantly auto erases everything i try to right. even something as simple as " your package shipped this morning" takes numerous attempts to write because of the auto deletion. this then forces me to use the website or my phone. PLEASE FIX THIS its incredibly annoying
Cannot upload photos from filesystem

For some reason, they decided to design this app in such a way that you can only add photos for a listing from the Photos app. So, if you have photos of the item that you're selling saved to your desktop, you cannot add them into the posting with this app. I've tried a dozen different ways and it is not possible. The only workaround is to add the photos of the item that you're selling into your Photos app, which doesn't make any sense because those photos would be deleted after the item sold.
Bug fixes and performance improvements. We are listening! Shake your phone if you experience a problem with the app or want to send us feedback about your experience on eBay.
