  • Continues to be the best clipboard manager

I've use many clipboard manager apps. I've used more advanced automation apps that can also provide clipboard and text filtering functions. I currently have at least 4 other apps that do clipboard management and/or text filtering, but they don't do what Pastebot does with ease or speed, so Pastebot keeps finding a place on my system. Its text filters are easier to use than alternatives. And Sequential Paste lets me copy mulitiple bits of text quickly then paste each one individually (e.g., into individual fields/cells). Or I can just quickly grab one of the last 100 things I copied to the clipboard when I find I need it again. I'm so glad Tapbots has updated Pastebot for years since I find I rely it year after year.

  • Promising, but for some reason, slow

I’m not here to slag on Tapbots because by and large they make best of class software in their categories. This has lots of potential, but it has been so slow for me, that after a couple of weeks of use I reluctantly have returned to using Paste. Intially I noticed a delay when pasting with Pastebot which I chalked up to AppleScript (or something relative because I noticed the same gear icon playing out in the menubar that shows up when triggering an Automator action, actions are notoriously delayed). I had grown too used to Paste app pasting my clipping immediately after I trigger the action. However I love Tapbots and was stoked about filters and a few other features so I stuck with it. The past few days it has bogged down so bad that after I hit a trigger to summon one of its features, it takes so long to appear my first thought is “on no, it must have crashed at some point.” Then I see the menubar icon and it's still there. Hmmm. I go about my work, a few minutes later it pops up. Maybe I’m too much of a power user and pushing it too hard? Maybe I have something configured poorly? I’m never one to omit myself as a suspect! I’ve limited clipping size and continued to reduce the number of clippings in history past the point of unacceptability (based on the existence of an available alternative). As always, take all reviews with a grain of salt, including mine. I’m posting because I hate that feeling of paying for something and then having to switch back to something else, maybe I can help someone can avoid that. If it isn’t me and there is something up with Pastebot, I have little doubt it will improve over time.

  • Great with no tweaks. ALSO tweak with PERL is awesome!

Other reviews point out this is a great program for non-experts. It just works! In this review I’ll rave about how incredible this is for expert use.To copy text to the clipboard, transform it with a pastebot filter, and then paste the transformed version of it is incredibly handy.A lot filters come out-of-the-box.A lot of different ways to write filters come out of the box, too, and these are fairly friendly. Then there’s my case: I am used to writing Linux pipe-line commands, especially including one-line PERL programs. And that’s a VERY powerful way to write a Pastebot filter — by using programming knowledge I already have, and with this being interoperable with how I work at the command line.Already I have: Written a filter to increment a number in filename on the clipboard. —When I capture a series of screenshots, each gets the next name in the series very easily. Written a filter to take a list of one-line-per-filename into a (qutoed!) one-line list of filenames with spaces between them. Written a filter to take a URL and grab the last part after a “/“ and change odd characters to “_”’s — to make it a screenshot filename. Turn a JSON section into tab-delimited text I can paste directly into Excel or Google Sheet.Awesome hotkeys: Ctrl-Opt-V — apply last-filter-used immediately to clipboard, and paste. Cmd-Enter — Used with pastebot is open, listing “clips”: Scroll to clip you want to use, press Cmd-Enter, and pick a filter to use with no mousing. (Mousing UI option is fine … I just like this better when doing high-volume work.)Pastebot saves me sanity, and a ton of time.

  • I LOVE pastebot. Does seem to work with Microsoft Office!

I can barely remember what it was like to live without pastebot. I… Somehow got my work done, but I think I was constantly copying and pasting into temporary text files to keep the snippets I needed, and I kept saving things in random files… It was terrible.Pastebot is one of my favorite things about the Mac, and I’m glad it’s being featured, and having used it, I’d happily buy it again. I did have some issues with it interacting with Microsoft Office products on the mac (Using Office 365) but I don’t remember exactly what was going wrong. Upong seeing those comments here, I retried, an it worked perfectly. To be clear, I had Pastebot running BEFORE I launched any of the Office products, and that might make a difference. It also might help that I recently restarted.

  • Best Multi-Clipboard

    BobRRoh

I have used several multi-clipboards and have generally liked them all. I tried out Pastebot on the strength of Tapbots' Tweetbot app for Twitter (now dead because of Elon Musk). Pastebot is a little more complicated than the other multi-clipboards but I quickly figured out the features I most need. Sequential Paste is great! I also like the ability to create separate pasteboards. Others have this feature but Pastebot was more immediately intuitive. Finally I was delighted to find that things I've copied on my phone immediatey appear on my Mac. Very useful! Which brings up Pastebot's only shortcoming: They need to add an iOS client. I don't see one. Otherwise I love this app.

  • Great support

    Share sheet broken

I’m retaining the copy of my original review as the below problems might be something other users are seeing. After speaking with Pastebot support, uninstalling and reinstalling and making sure “Install Paste Script” was no longer present under ‘File’ in the app’s menu fixed the problems.I deal with several little snippets of text day in and day out and this app has made my life so much easier.Want to start off by saying that I love this app and its design. It has worked flawlessly until recently. My primary problem is losing items in custom pasteboards. What typically happens is when I copy and paste from a custom pasteboard, that item is somehow deleted from that pasteboard at some point between the time I copy it and the next time I open the pasteboard. Have uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail. Another issue I’ve been having on one of my Macs (a 2012 Pro) is that items aren’t automatically pasted when selected from a pasteboard. I hear the Mac’s “bonk” signifying an error before having to paste the item myself. Will update to 5 stars once these problems are fixed.

  • The perfect clipboard manager

    Klikini

After switching to Mac from Windows recently, I was disappointed to learn there wasn’t a built-in clipboard history manager like Windows has. However, Pastebot does everything Windows’ did and then some. Being able to set a global keyboard shortcut for “paste as plain text” instead of relying on individual applications to offer this functionality is a game changer. There does seem to be an issue with macOS 15 that causes it to quit a few seconds after you open it, but I can confirm that uninstalling and reinstalling Pastebot fixes the problem.

  • Best Clipbboard app hands down!

    Gordyb4

I have used clipboard managment programs for years. I’ve tried many and this one is the one to buy. The Mac never has had a good clipboard app from my experience but the ones I did use got me by. THIS one with it’s sequential paste is so awesome, it’s made filling in my database work a breeze. I even made the help page my home page so I’m reminded to check out features. I’ve NEVER done that for any application I can recall. Search clips everything stays in sync so if you copy something on you home work MAC and later need that clip on your Macbook in the bedroom….viola…there it is!

  • Incredible

    totallytyguy

This app is one of those apps that feels like it should just be bulit into the system, because it makes things so much easier. Copy something and later realize you wish you still had access to it? Pastebot. Want to copy and paste a bunch of things at once? Pastebot. Want to organize things you regularly copy and paste? Pastebot. Also, this app's UI is a breeze to use. Very intuitive and straightforward for basic features in my book, with advanced features for more advanced users.

  • This is the best clipboard manager I’ve ever seen

    ChristopherMN12

I have used them all, and I mean every possible MacOS CB manager I could find. I bought them all. I used each one and put it up against my needs. I copy and paste data dozens (hundreds?) of times a day. I need to QUICKLY search my pasteboard and move on to the next task. Other managers are good, I won’t disparage them. But this one I have used for years and years and built up a muscle memory that really gives me lightning fast access to the data I need.

  • Absolutely indispensible. Should be built in to Macs!

    jtility

I have used Pastebot every single day for YEARS. Not only does it make it easy to paste multiple items at once when I need that, but I love that it gives me a quick option to paste without formatting just by holding shift. And having the ability to see a list of what you recently pasted and grab items from there instead of having to go back to the source is a game changer. Such a great app, just get it!!

  • Great apps ruined by lack of updates

    Nutmac

I love Tapbots and I purchased almost all Tapbots apps.Pastebot was a great app, which adds some styles to mundane clipboard management. Unlike its more stylish apps like Tweetbot, the styles element is subtle at best, but it's there. It has enough features and functionalities to satisfy most power users. The problem is lack of polish.1. The app barely supports macOS Mojave properly. CPU utilization is fairly significant. Even at idle, Pastebot routinely uses 20-30% CPU.2. At startup, Pastebot always opens the "Main Window". There is no option to startup silently.3. Confusions between "Main Window" and "Clipboard". It's difficult to switch between these two different views (there should be a button), and confusions as to what you can or cannot do in "Clipboard" view. Tapbots should use its UX wizardly to combine these two views.4. Lack of update. It's been about a year since the app was last updated. Since then, Mojave came out wtih dark mode.
