Signal is a messaging app with privacy at its core. It is free and easy to use, with strong end-to-end encryption that keeps your communication completely private.
• Send texts, voice messages, photos, videos, GIFs, and files for free. Signal uses your phone’s data connection, so you avoid SMS and MMS fees.
• Call your friends with crystal-clear encrypted voice and video calls. Group calls supported for up to 50 people.
• Stay connected with group chats up to 1,000 people. Control who can post and manage group members with admin permission settings.
• Share image, text, and video Stories that disappear after 24 hours. Privacy settings keep you in charge of exactly who can see each Story.
• Signal is built for your privacy. We know nothing about you or who you’re talking to. Our open source Signal Protocol means that we can’t read your messages or listen to your calls. Neither can anyone else. No back doors, no data collection, no compromises.
• Signal is independent and not for profit; a different kind of tech from a different kind of organization. As a 501c3 nonprofit we are supported by your donations, not by advertisers or investors.

Great App But Could Still Be Better

I’ll start with the cons:1. Recent chats don’t get listed for easy access when attempting to share material from outside the app. This I found to be very discouraging and a turn off. I couldn’t ignore it. 2. No animated stickers. They say it’s coming soon though. 3. I can’t reply directly to a post with a sticker but only with a GIF or picture. A deal breaker for me. 4. No status updates. I really don’t care much for this though but I know this is very key for many people and may be the deal breaker for them. This after all - when it was a novel feature - is what made BBM very popular back then and made it a fun community. It has also become an important feature in WhatsApp. I believe however that with the recent surge in downloads, the addition of these features will be accelerated and because those features are by themselves inevitable, natural steps in technological progressPros:1. I love the disappearing messages feature. 2. Calls seem to clearer on Signal than it is on WhatsApp.So we’re gonna ride with WhatsApp until the wheels fall off or until ZUCK shaves his head and declares himself to be Lex Luthor. And who knows? Signal may eventually meet or even possibly supersede WhatsApp‘s features and become widely adopted? Let’s just hope that they remain true to their stated principles cos I know these corporations tend to get greedy and tyrannical at some point. Sometimes you give in to things you just can’t help. We won’t live forever after all right?
Transferring chat on signal

I hope Signal allow chats and pictures transfers when switching phones, just like whatapp does. I’ve been using signal for a while, and it’s been superb, I have zero complaints. The only issue is having to start my chats from the beginning whenever I switch to a new phone, since everything is lost.
Its good but needs some fixes

The app is nice, cus it doesn’t reduce quality like whatsapp, but there should be a last seen and you can decide wheter you want your last seen to show or notAnd pls WE WANT STATUS,so we can post memes and recent things, just rename it as story or whatever you want to and pls we need proper notifications, pls do this snd the apps becomes the best app ever
• We added a convenient shortcut to quickly lower your hand after you start speaking during a Signal group call. It's hands down our favorite feature in this release.
