Grand Theft Auto 6 fans may have discovered a new feature coming to the game by way of Grand Theft Auto Online. The seemingly leaked GTA 6 feature seems to have accidentally made its way to the online component of GTA 5, providing a hint as to what players may have to contend with when dealing with the cops in GTA 6.
Fans of the GTA franchise have been waiting for GTA 6 for a very long time, and while the wait should be coming to an end later in 2026, there still isn't much in the way of concrete reveals for the game. Although pre-orders for GTA 6 should be opening soon, very little has been revealed for the game since it received its second trailer way back in mid-2025. Following numerous delays, fans are more eager than ever to learn more about Rockstar Games' expected hit.
GTA 6 is All But Guaranteed to Have a Legendary Parody of This 2026 Trend
Grand Theft Auto is a series known for its satire and parodies of American culture, which makes GTA 6 perfect to parody one 2026 vehicle trend.
GTA Online May Have Leaked a GTA 6 Feature
A GTA Online player has shared a discovery that may very well be a leak of an upcoming GTA 6 feature, which they discovered while customizing a car. While customizing their Coquette D10, Reddit user Ok-Oil-8903 noticed that some odd text talking about vehicle identification numbers, or VINs, was mistakenly placed under the Sunstrips customization category. The description indicated that the VIN is a unique code that identifies individual vehicles, and claimed that it had been removed from the vehicle in question. However, no VIN codes exist in Grand Theft Auto Online or GTA 5.

According to the OP, they were only able to see this feature when customizing a Coquette D10 that they'd picked up from GTA Online's Chop Shop a week before. Trying to customize other cars, including identical vehicles, didn't show the same text. They also found that the text only appeared when customizing the vehicle in one of the GTA Online Mansion Vehicle Workshops, as the normal custom Sunstrips options appeared as they should when modifying it elsewhere. It's not clear why the text was mistakenly included with this particular car, but the alleged feature might connect to prior leaks from GTA 6.
GTA 6 leaks back in 2022 indicated that the game would be seeing some significant advancements in how crime is tracked and players are pursued by the police. At that time, it was revealed that witnesses can report crimes, and that if players are spotted entering a vehicle while being watched in this way, the vehicle's description will be shared with the police. From that point forward, the vehicle will presumably be trackable, even if the player gets away from law enforcement initially arriving on the scene. In theory, stripping a car's VIN number or changing it could potentially let players continue using the car without drawing attention from the cops.
Fit the 9 games into the grid.
All of this should be taken with a grain of salt, as it's still possible that the text is simply a placeholder for a future update, or it could even be referring to a scrapped feature. This isn't the first time that players have discovered what appear to be elements of GTA 6 making their way into GTA Online, however. Previously, players spotted an asset in GTA Online that bears a strong resemblance to one shown in a GTA 6 preview, while another spotted an accessory in GTA Online that's been used in GTA 6 promotional material. With GTA 6 reportedly no longer facing further delays, it's only a matter of time before these leaks are proven to be true or false.
