Each faction has a camp in Gothic 1 Remake that has its own set of rules and goals, and joining a camp will lock you into their faction, so don't expect to double-cross and work for multiple factions at once. One such faction is the Brotherhood, located at the Swamp Camp.

How to Reach Swamp Camp in Gothic 1 Remake
There are two ways to get to the Swamp Camp. You can either try to find the way on your own, or, you can find a guide to accompany you. Personally, I'd recommend finding the guide, as going on your own can be confusing, and the hostile creatures are bound to cause you trouble.
Before venturing to Swamp Camp, speak with Dexter in Old Camp for "The Cult's Recipe" quest, which will take you to the Swamp Camp in search of Cor Kalom's recipe.
Baal Parvez is the guide, and he can be found in Old Camp. When you enter from the north gate, take a right and follow the path until you reach a sharp slope that leads to a fire camp with a bunch of benches around it. Baal Parvez usually hangs around this fire camp during the day.
Speak with Baal Parvez, ask about the Swamp Camp, and then ask him to take you to their camp. From now on, your only job is to follow him until both of you reach the camp. However, there will be quite a few fights along the way with aggressive creatures like Bloodflies, Lizards, Scavengers, and Wolves, so bring a weapon!
Thankfully, Baal Parvez is quite strong, and he will deal with most threats on his own, but you should always try to help and save his health, because if he dies, you will lose your guide to Swamp Camp, which ensures you'll get lost!
I strongly recommend saving the game after every encounter on the path towards the Swamp Camp.
How to Get to Swamp Camp Without a Guide in Gothic 1 Remake
If you want to avoid hanging out with Baal Parvez, you can discover the route to Swamp Camp with these directions:
- Exit from the southern gate of the Old Camp. That's where Mordrag the merchant is located.
- As you exit, there is only one gravel path. So, follow it forward.
- At the first fork, take the path on the left. A giant lizard will roar as you take a few steps in this direction. It's easier to ignore and run than to stay and fight if you are a low-level adventurer.
- Follow the road and pass over the wooden bridge.
- A Wolf and Bloodflies are on the other side. You are going to need some Wolf Claws for a quest in the Old Camp, and this is a great opportunity to collect them without getting your hands dirty.
- Continue through the same path, and you will face three more Lizards a little down the road.
- After dealing with Lizards, follow the path again until you reach two Scavengers at a fork. There might be a Wolf on the way as well. You should take a left from the fork, and it's easy to escape both creatures.
- Follow the road and ignore the mole rats ahead until you reach another fork with three lizards. Take a right, then follow the road that goes behind the cliffs.
- From here, you will face three more forks. Take the right path in the first two, and take the left path in the third fork. This path will take you behind some cliffs. Then you will reach another fork with a black flag. Turn left here.
- As you follow the road, you will gradually realize the biome is changing to lush trees and a swampy setting. From here, the path is clear. Just follow the road, and you will find the entrance bridge of the Swamp Camp with two soldiers guarding it.
- You can tell the guards that you just want to have a look at the camp, and they will let you in.
What Can You Do in the Swamp Camp in Gothic 1 Remake?
Similar to the Old Camp, Swamp Camp features lots of NPCs with several side quests that will help you become a member of the Brotherhood. The problem with the Swamp Camp is that it has a maze-like structure, which makes it confusing to find your way and remember where each path leads.
There is also a connected mission between Swamp Camp and the New Camp. When you are in the Swamp Camp, meet Fortuno. He will give you a few rolls of Swampweed for free every day. There is a mission in the New Camp that will ask for these Swampweeds, so this freebie can come in handy.
To become a member of the Brotherhood, you will need to impress the Baals inside the camp. Make sure to talk to every NPC with a unique name to learn more about the ways to impress the Baals.
