Hoyoverse, developer of popular free-to-play games like Genshin Impact, has revealed its brand-new game. Nodus Fall was announced during Gamescom Opening Night Live as the studio's next major title. However, unlike Genshin Impact, Nodus Fall looks a lot darker, almost like a FromSoftware game like Elden Ring.

The Chinese developer has been a juggernaut among the free-to-play gacha game genre since Genshin Impact took the world by storm back in 2020. Since its launch, Genshin Impact has seen major updates and story expansions, the most recent of which was version 7.0, which added the region of Snezhnaya along with 5-star character Odette and 4-star character Alyosha. Fans looking for a completely different type of Hoyoverse experience will want to keep an eye on Nodus Fall.

Hoyoverse Unveils New Game Nodus Fall

The heavily-rumored Hoyoverse game Nodus Fall was officially revealed during Gamescom 2026, looking like a drastic departure from the developer's previous games. Unlike the bright anime-style aesthetics of Hoyoverse's Genshin Impact, Zenless Zone Zero, and Honkai: Star Rail, Nodus Fall is almost like a blend of games like Elden Ring and Monster Hunter in its visuals. The game is confirmed to be a co-op action RPG developed in Unreal Engine 5, but no release date has been shared yet.

Nodus Fall's trailer showcases its dark fantasy world where players will take on the role of a Weaver in a world where divine authority has crumbled, and order has collapsed. Now, players will need to fight back against mighty mythic beings that dominate what remains of the ravaged world. This premise alone sounds similar to Elden Ring's Shattering at the hands of Queen Marika that kicked off the events of the FromSoftware title, making it clear that Elden Ring was a source of inspiration for Hoyoverse when developing this Nodus Fall.

Test your knowledge.

Gameplay-wise, the Nodus Fall takes cues not only from a co-op soulslike like Elden Ring: Nightreign, but from Monster Hunter and even Dragon's Dogma 2 with its large-scale battles against massive enemies. One segment of the trailer showed a party of Nodus Fall players facing a huge dragon, using weapons ranging from bows to heavy greatswords to defeat the beast in co-op action. It's unclear if this gameplay will lean more into its Elden Ring-like nature or if it will feel more familiar to Monster Hunter fans, but it should offer an exciting co-op experience regardless.

Fans of Hoyoverse will likely have to wait a while for more info on Nodus Fall since no release window for the game was given. However, there are plenty of other updates for Hoyoverse titles coming in the near future to tide fans over in the meantime. Zenless Zone Zero will be hosting a special program livestream to give an update on the upcoming Version 3.2. Meanwhile, Honkai: Star Rail Version 4.5 is launching later today, featuring Robin - Summeretto and Aventurine - Waveflair as the headlining characters alongside reruns of Hyacine and Ashveil, additional story missions, and a brand-new planet.
