Everything ends, and that includes games. Each month, a few games are delisted, causing them to no longer be available to purchase or play. While occasionally a single-player offline title is removed from stores but is still playable by its owners, the more common phenomenon is multiplayer games shutting down for good. April 2026 is no exception, as several relatively big projects like Bloodhunt and King of Meat have announced their plans to walk into the sunset.

Developers and publishers do not shut down highly successful projects unless there is a very good reason to do so, and nearly all the games closing in April 2026 have struggled to maintain an audience. Still, it is always sad to see this process play out. If you have fond memories of these titles, this might be your last chance to play them again.

The primary focus is on games that will be shutting down completely, but we will also be including one special case at the end of the article.

The biggest game shutting down in April 2026, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt has been ticking along as a minor part of the battle royale sphere for roughly 5 years. While initially seen as a bit of a cashgrab, Bloodhunt is arguably the Vampire: The Masquerade game that left the longest-lasting impression after 2004's Bloodlines. Set in Gothic Prague, the game is incredibly stylish, at least within its genre. It has beautiful architecture and neonlight, all the while focusing on vertical gameplay that lets you see Prague from multiple levels.

The sun is now going to rise over Prague. We will be taking down the Bloodhunt servers on the 28th of April 2026, after which the game will no longer be available.

Even if a battle royale wasn't what most die-hard fans wanted for the franchise, Bloodhunt did a respectable job of integrating elements from the World of Darkness, delivering a tone that fits the universe. Even the gameplay is pretty good, as the mix of guns and archetype-based supernatural abilities made for a fun mix that sets it apart from other battle royales. On Steam, Bloodhunt has averaged less than 200 players all year, so the announcement of its closure isn't that surprising. It will be missed.

Amazon Games has announced that two games will be shutting down in the imminent future. The biggest is New World: Aeternum, which has a sunset date of January 31, 2027. While players have some time to say their goodbyes to that MMORPG, King of Meat is set to end far sooner. Although received relatively well, the multiplayer game struggled to find an audience on any platform, with its Steam peak being just 320 players. Sure, it was available on the PS5 and Xbox Series, but such a dismal PC scene suggests that King of Meat never took off. Amazon Games all but confirmed that to be true.

Despite the creativity and innovation Glowmade brought to King of Meat, the game has unfortunately not found the audience we hoped for.

In a multiplayer world dominated by shooters, a co-op PvE platformer with hack and slash elements was a somewhat refreshing change of pace; however, as King of Meat's run proved, there might be a reason these types of projects aren't released all that often: there isn't a huge demand for them. The game could be played solo as well, so it is a shame we aren't getting an offline mode that just lets players run through the dungeons.

Except for a couple of breakthrough releases like Space Marine 2, Warhammer 40K games tend to live inside a bubble consisting primarily of pre-existing fans of the universe. Absolutely nothing wrong with that, but if somebody is not into the tabletop franchise, they might not even be aware that Warpforge even exists, let alone that it will be shutting down after a bit more than 2 years of activity (counting Early Access).

After two incredible years together, we want to thank you sincerely for your support and for being part of this journey.

Available on PC and mobile, the card game definitely has its supporters who, presumably, spent quite a bit of money on things like packs and battle passes. The February 2026 announcement came out of nowhere, especially since the same month had a raid event. A balance update was even released in January 2026, strange for a project that seemingly was on its last legs.

Arguably the smallest project in this article, Pandemic Express: Zombie Escape has actually been around longer than any of the previous games, launching all the way back in 2019. Yeah, this title predates 2020, so it wasn't an attempt to cash-in on real-world events. An asymmetric experience, players are dropped into a world where one is infected and must turn everyone else into a zombie. The concept is inspired by Counter-Strike's "Zombie Escape" mod, but it is a neat idea that could work as an alternative to something like Dead by Daylight or No More Room in Hell.

We want to offer a sincere thank you to everyone who supported Pandemic Express over the years and have joined us since this journey began back in 2019.

Pandemic Express hasn't averaged more than 100 players since 2020, and it has been mostly dead since then. Matches can hold up to 20 players, and they need relatively big groups since the map is quite expansive. Honestly, it is amazing that the game stuck around for this long.

miHoYo's Genshin Impact is so popular that it will probably outlive us all, but that doesn't mean every version will stick around until the sun goes supernova. In October 2025, the PS4 version was removed from the PlayStation Store, and only people who had previously downloaded this iteration could install it. On February 25, 2026, miHoYo disabled in-game purchases on the console. Finally, on April 8, miHoYo will officially end update support for Genshin Impact on PS4, meaning players will no longer be able to log into this version. They should still be able to claim any purchased items on the PS5, though. If somebody only has the PS4 as a login method, they should bind their account to one of the other platforms.

Due to limitations related to hardware performance and platform application size, we will be discontinuing support and updates for Genshin Impact on PS4 in future versions.

The above explanation pretty much says everything that needs to be said. Genshin Impact has simply grown too big to be feasible on last-gen hardware. While most people likely play on more modern systems, the PS4 was the first console to receive Genshin Impact, so this feels like the end of an era to an extent.
