Sprites are the new mechanic for Fortnite Runners: Chapter 7 Season 3, and they're essential for their unique abilities (you can find a full list of their effects below). There are dozens of Sprites, and each of them can actually be leveled up through specific methods.
Below, will showcase how you can level up Sprites in Fortnite, what it does, and the most efficient ways to reach their max level so that you can enjoy their new and powerful potential for this exciting season of Sprites and extractions!

One of the biggest focuses of Season 3 is the return of Sprites, with both old and new critters showing up. Here is every Sprite in Fortnite Runners.
How to Get Sprite XP in Fortnite
Sprite XP can be acquired through eliminations, opening chests/containers, and extracting Sprites. Here's a full look at the XP values you can get for your equipped Sprite:
- Extract Duplicate Sprite +200 XP
- Extract Different Sprite +100 XP
- Down an Enemy +100 XP
- Eliminate an Enemy +200 XP
- Open Chests, Ammo Boxes, and Containers +75 XP
It can take a fair amount of XP to rise through the levels, as each Sprite will start at level 1, which will then go up to level 5. Each rank requires more XP, but I've managed to upgrade a Sprite to max level in just one match of Battle Royale by extracting other Sprites and eliminating enemies.
The Max Rank of a Sprite is Level 5, so once you manage to hit this rank, you should immediately try to extract the Sprite so that it's safely returned to the lobby. Failing to do so can be costly, as you'll have to spend Sprite Dust to get them back.
What Does Mastering a Sprite Do in Fortnite?
Increasing your Sprite's level does two things:
- Adds a Sprite Mastery
- Increases the power of the Sprite
Sprites must be leveled individually, meaning you can't just level up one Sprite and expect your entire collection to be level 5. However, leveling them comes with its own advantages, as each level adds enhancements to the equipped Sprite. For instance, the Duck Sprite grants +5 Shield when emoting/jamming every tick instead of +1.
Not only is upgrading your Sprites great for the added bonuses in Battle Royale, but they can also provide you with additional rewards. Head to the Sprites tab in the lobby and check out the Sprites Mastery Rewards tab, as each type of Sprite you get to level 5 rewards you with XP, Sprite Dust, and Portable Extractors.
