How to Get Portable Extractors in Fortnite

The Portable Extractor can be obtained via two methods:

  • You can get 1 Portable Extractor every day (resets at 9 AM ET) for 2,000 Sprite Dust at the terminal found by the Extraction Sites.
  • Unlock Sprite Mastery on 2 and then 6 different Sprites (achieve Level 5).

You will have a limited amount of Portable Extractors, so you might want to save them for when you come across an extremely rare Sprite, so you're not wasting them on commons like the Earth, Water, and Fire Sprites. We'll also explain how to use the Portable Extractor below!

Portable Extractors stack, meaning you can have multiple of them. These are exclusive to your account and cannot be dropped or lost, regardless of whether you get eliminated or not.

How to Use the Portable Extractor in Fortnite

Once you have a Portable Extractor, you can hold Triangle/Y to equip it in your pickaxe slot. While holding the Portable Extractor, hold R2/RT, and your equipped Sprite will be returned safely to the lobby in 5 seconds, meaning you won't have to worry about being eliminated and losing it.

The Portable Extractor is best used when you have found a rare Sprite that you want to keep, but you don't want to risk going to an Extraction Site in case you run into a hostile team. The Portable Extractor is also great to use for fast trades, and if you're pinned down and want to make sure your Sprite survives the battle and isn't lost.
