After the confirmation that the DMZ mode will be making its return in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Infinity Ward revealed new details including where it takes place and the living world players will be dropping into. While the original DMZ never really seemed to reach its potential, Infinity Ward is taking another swing at the mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and this time around, it sounds like it may just be what fans were hoping to see originally.

However, it’s none of this that has me hyped. Instead, it’s Captain Price’s storyline that has me the most intrigued, but again, it’s not for the same reason as everyone else will be. Longtime Call of Duty campaign enjoyers may be on the edge of their seats to witness a fight between iconic action heroes Price and Ghost, and while that could certainly be cool, it’s everything that will lead-up to that confrontation which has me ready to pre-order. This is because Modern Warfare 4 is showing what happens when a rogue hero is hunted by the people he once fought for — an awesome story idea that I’ve always been let down by Black Ops leaving on the table.

The original DMZ was one of the more interesting ideas Call of Duty had in recent years, but with it technically being a beta, it always felt like something the franchise was only halfway committing to. There was a lot there that panned out, and it proved Call of Duty could actually work as an extraction shooter, but it also felt like a mode that needed more structure, more long-term progression, and a stronger reason to keep players coming back.
