Copper is essential for crafting electronics and weapon mods in Fallout 4, and if you're the type who loves building settlements, or if you just really like modding your guns, then you're probably going to empty your Copper reserves pretty quickly. While this resource isn't that hard to come across, it can be tricky to get once you do find yourself in need of it. If you're struggling with Copper in Fallout 4, here are some of the best places to loot, the best items to scrap, and one good way to get as much Copper as you can without doing any scavenging yourself.
Fallout 4: Pull the Plug Quest Guide
If you want to drain the flooded Thicket Excavations site in Fallout 4, all you need to do is find and repair a few broken valves.
Where to Find Copper in Fallout 4
Players can get Copper by scrapping a wide assortment of junk, mostly electronics like lights, lamps, coils, and pots. You'll find these all over the Commonwealth, but if you want to get a lot of Copper without worrying too much about hitting specific places, we strongly recommend getting and upgrading the Scrapper perk and dismantling Pipe Weapons.
Pipe guns are very common in Fallout 4. They're used by many sentient humanoids, especially Super Mutants and Raiders, and you can find tons of these guys in downtown Boston.
If you're looking for a farm route, start from Diamond City and work your way east to the Old North Church. Check all the POIs you come across, and you should run into mutants and raiders. Also, don't forget to check kitchens for cooking pots, lamps, and broken bulbs.
Where to Buy Copper in Fallout 4
The most reliable way to get Copper without exerting much effort is to buy them from merchants. Specifically, you'll want to visit the following ones:
|
Vendor |
Location |
|
KLEO |
Goodneighbor |
|
Myrna |
Diamond City |
|
Arturo Rodriguez |
Diamond City |
|
Trashcan Carla |
Traveling Merchant (stops by Drumlin Diner) |
|
Trudy |

These vendors should have various shipments of items for sale, including Copper shipments that contain up to 25 units each. Of course, you'll need Caps to buy stuff from traders, and if you're strapped for money, we strongly recommend building a few Water Purifiers over at Sanctuary.
Once you have Water Purifiers up and running, you'll be able to produce tons of Purified Water, which you can then sell to vendors for a decent price. Once you exhaust a vendor's stock, wait for 7–10 in-game days, and they should have new items ready for purchase again. Keep in mind that if you're playing on Survival mode, vendors may take longer to replenish their wares.
