This homebrew Dungeons and Dragons supplement lets players of all ages bring the magic of KPop Demon Hunters to the TTRPG table.
Though Dungeons and Dragons has been around for over 50 years, it has seen a surge in popularity over the last decade, thanks to actual plays like Critical Role and appearances on TV shows like Stranger Things. Meanwhile, in summer 2025, KPop Demon Hunters took the world by storm, quickly becoming a global sensation and one of the top movies of the year.

Front and center in Idols of the Neon Dark is the Idol, a brand-new Dungeons and Dragons class with 20 levels of progression. The Idol does not use Spellcasting or Bardic Inspiration like a D&D Bard, and instead focuses on timing, reactions, and teamwork via Harmonies. Idols are further differentiated through their five subclasses. The Manifestation Idol summons a spirit companion, the Discord Idol punishes enemies for breaking Harmony, and the Percussion Idol helps keep rhythm until the beat drops. Alternatively, the Ceremony Idol uses rituals and repetition to enhance its allies, while the luck-based Aleatory Idol can even grant allies an extra turn if fortune favors them.
In addition to this class, nine new subclasses for the core classes in Dungeons and Dragons are coming, each inspired by the harmonious teamwork of the Idol. The College of Collaboration Bard is the leader of an ensemble, turning Bardic Inspiration into shared momentum to aid all of their allies at once. Meanwhile, the Polyphony Domain Cleric uses rhythmic, layered blessings to sustain their party. Fighters can instead choose the Harmonious Blade, forming a bond with a signature weapon that resonates and grows stronger with their performance.
Lumenica, a gorgeous high-magic Dungeons and Dragons setting centered around the K-Pop metropolis of Neon City, is the backdrop of over 100 pages of adventures, one-shots, plot hooks, and NPCs. Two new playable species can be found there: the Luminal, beings of living light and emotion, and the Fractalis, crystalline humanoids that refract magic. Beyond that, more than 30 monsters inspired by Korean folklore also appear in this book, including the elemental Dokkaebi tricksters, the Pink Crystal Dragon, and Sora, the Last Diva – a Kumiho who was one of the first Idols in Lumenica.
With over $112,000 pledged at press time, Idols of the Neon Dark has smashed its $13,000 goal nearly 10 times over. Indeed, this project was fully funded only four minutes after it launched.
Several stretch goals have already been unlocked, including a bonus battlemap, a Neon City wallpaper pack, 20 extra tokens for its supported virtual tabletops, and backer cameos as citizens of Lumenica. However, even more goals remain unmet, including rules and illustrations for a bowling minigame, a crowd energy system reminiscent of the Honmoon from KPop Demon Hunters, a two-player Duet mode, the Dance Idol subclass, and more. Idols of the Neon Dark is open for backing on Kickstarter until April 9, so fans still have plenty of time to support it, with fulfillment expected to take place in early 2027.
