Black Frieza is the single strongest villain the Dragon Ball franchise has ever seen, and once the Dragon Ball Super manga finally returns, the Z-Fighters will have no choice but to face their hardest challenge left. Fortunately, where Dragon Ball Super Chapter 103 left off, the series’ five main characters are more powerful than they've ever – and in typical Dragon Ball fashion, they're only going to get stronger.
Dragon Ball: 8 Strongest Characters With Personal Transformations, Ranked
Personal transformations are the best thing Dragon Ball Super has done for the series, turning forms into a genuine expression of each character.
As it stands, Goku and the rest of the Z-Fighters can't stack up to Black Frieza’s raw power, but that doesn't mean they're hopeless. Goku, Vegeta, and the rest of the cast now have incredible transformations that have the potential to grow even stronger by the Black Frieza Saga. It’s almost guaranteed that at least one of the main character’s ultimate transformations will have enough power and potential to kill Black Frieza once and for all.
Orange Piccolo Has Yet to Reach His True Power
Dragon Ball Super was not particularly kind to Piccolo, but everything changed when he temporarily became the series' main character in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. After Shenron unlocked Piccolo's potential, he was able to trigger the Orange Piccolo transformation. Orange Piccolo is weaker than Gohan Beast, but strong enough to rival both Goku and Vegeta, making Piccolo one of the five strongest Z-Fighters in the series.
Orange Piccolo may be the result of Shenron bringing out Piccolo's potential, but Piccolo can make the transformation even stronger by training. Unlike his student Gohan, Piccolo is constantly training, so it's only a matter of time before he pushes Orange Piccolo to its absolute limit. Orange Piccolo defeating Black Frieza would be a curve ball for Dragon Ball, but so was making him the main character of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. Anything can happen in the Black Frieza Saga.
Gohan Beast is Already Stronger Than Goku & Vegeta With Minimal Training
Gohan spent most of Dragon Ball Super slacking off, only getting his act together for the Tournament of Power and Moro Saga. Even then, it wouldn't be until Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero when Gohan finally reached his full potential again and became the strongest Z-Fighter. Gohan Beast is a beast with more power than even his father. In Dragon Ball Super Chapter 103, Gohan Beast outright knocks Goku out of Ultra Instinct during their sparring match.
Whis even sees enough power in Gohan to consider him a potential candidate to replace Beerus as Universe 7's God of Destruction (though Beerus disagrees). This is despite the fact that Gohan is coming fresh off fighting Cell Max and has yet to train his Beast form in any capacity. If Gohan stays sharp and keeps training in-between Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero and the Black Frieza Saga, he could easily grow strong enough to destroy Black Frieza.
9 Dragon Ball Characters With The Most Unearned Power Ups
By the end of Dragon Ball Z and throughout almost all of Dragon Ball Super, characters are growing stronger through power-ups that defy all logic.
Ultra Ego Vegeta Will Become a Monster Once Vegeta Masters the Form
Vegeta finally unlocked a transformation to rival Ultra Instinct during the Granolah the Survivor Saga. After training with Beerus and accepting a God of Destruction earring, Vegeta learned how to manifest his destructive powers into Ultra Ego. Ultra Ego allows Vegeta to gradually grow stronger during combat, and especially as he takes more damage. The downside is that Vegeta's lust for battle makes him numb to pain, which can result in him completely exhausting himself before he can actually defeat his foes.
Ultra Ego is rusty, but in its debut appearance, UE Vegeta is already just as strong – if not even more powerful – than Ultra Instinct Goku. By training Ultra Ego, Vegeta will be able to surpass Goku in terms of pure Power Level and give Black Frieza a beat down unlike any other. Vegeta has the most personal connection and deepest history to Frieza, so him finally getting a win over the man who enslaved him for years wouldn't be out of the question – especially if he can get over Ultra Ego's glaring weaknesses.
Ultra Instinct Goku is Growing Stronger With Every Single Saga
Ultra Instinct is the best thing to happen to Goku since Super Saiyan. Ever since unlocking Ultra Instinct in the Tournament of Power, Goku's mastery of the transformation has only improved with each subsequent arc. In the Galactic Patrol Saga, Goku learned how to control his mental state and activate Ultra Instinct at will. In the Granolah the Survivor Saga, Goku tapped into True Ultra Instinct without his heart being calm and learned to stack his various Super Saiyan forms on top of it.
Goku is back to using Perfected Ultra Instinct in the Draogn Ball Super: Super Hero's manga epilogue, suggesting that his mastery has grown beyond the need for True Ultra Instinct. It only makes sense that Goku will push Ultra Instinct even further in the Black Frieza Saga. Considering Goku is the character who's used his personal ultimate form the longest, he's the best candidate to defeat Black Frieza on a pure skill level.
Dragon Ball: Every Character Who Can Turn Legendary Super Saiyan, Ranked
The strongest Legendary Super Saiyans can overwhelm Dragon Ball's greatest fighters with ease, making them extremely dangerous in life or death duels.
Legendary Super Saiyan Broly Beat Frieza Once & He Can Do It Again
Broly has more natural power than any other character in Dragon Ball history. Despite spending his entire life on Vampa with no formal training other than fighting to survive, Broly was strong enough to fight Goku and Vegeta's God forms while in his base form. When Broly became a Super Saiyan, he straight up surpassed Goku and Vegeta entirely, entering an entirely new league of power in his Legendary Super Saiyan form.
Legendary Super Saiyan Broly already destroyed Friezaa once in Dragon Ball Super: Broly, and while Frieza only had his Golden form back then, the fact LSSJ Broly was strong enough to fight Gogeta Blue and live puts him in a completely different class compared to other fighters. Broly's big problem right now is that he can't access his Legendary Super Saiyan form at will, but he's getting closer as of Dragon Ball Super Chapter 103. Once Broly learns how to use Legendary Super Saiyan whenever he wants, he's going to be the Z-Fighters' best shot at putting down Black Frieza – without resorting to fusion, that is.
Super Saiyan Blue is All Gogeta Needs to Obliterate Black Frieza
Black Frieza may be strong enough to defeat Goku and Vegeta when they're separated, but there's no chance in HFIL Black Frieza can stack up against Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta. Gogeta is the ultimate fusion between Goku and Vegeta, so powerful that he might even be able to defeat Beerus. In Dragon Ball Super: Broly, Gogeta is so strong, he's able to break through the very fabric of the universe and transport himself and Broly into another dimension. In Akira Toriyama's original script for Dragon Ball Super: Broly, Gogeta would have brought Broly to the literal sun for their final battle, making for one of the most impressive feats in the entire franchise.
While Gogeta needed to turn Super Saiyan Blue to defeat Broly, he didn't so much as break a sweat fighting him in his base or regular Super Saiyan forms. Super Saiyan Blue would be all Gogeta needs to kill Black Frieza once and for all. The problem is that Goku and Vegeta's pride would 100% stop them from using Gogeta against Frieza, especially since they've been given ample time to train their respective forms. If Gogeta shows up during the Black Frieza Saga, it'll have to be because something has gone horribly wrong in the final battle against Frieza.
