Vegeta IV is the Prince of All Saiyans and one of the greatest warriors in Dragon Ball. While Goku and Gohan both pushed ahead of Vegeta by the end of Dragon Ball Z, it didn't take long for him to reclaim his place as one of the powerful men alive in Dragon Ball Super. The Dragon Ball Super manga makes it very clear that Vegeta is a prodigy born out of hard work, whose potential may very well surpass Goku's.

Heading into the Black Frieza Saga, Vegeta has officially beaten Goku in a fair fight, has shown enough power to battle Gohan Beast without resorting to Ultra Ego, and has been training non-stop to kill Frieza once and for all. Vegeta is one of the strongest Saiyans in Dragon Ball right now, but there's one Saiyan he will never be able to surpass or beat – and it's the only one Vegeta has never defeated in a fight before.

Vegeta Has Beaten Almost Every Single Saiyan in Dragon Ball

With the exception of Raditz – who Vegeta had a much higher Power Level than, and would have defeated off-screen by training – Vegeta fought and beat every single Saiyan who appeared in Dragon Ball Z. Vegeta kills Nappa, breaks every bone in Goku's body in the Saiyan Saga, pummels Gohan, beats Future Trunks when they train together, and knocks out both Goten and Trunks. Come Dragon Ball Super, Vegeta defeats both Cabba and Goku Black. By all accounts, he also has a higher Power Level than Kale, Caulifla, and Kefla (though he never fights any of them).

In Dragon Ball Super: Broly, Vegeta ends up battling Broly and actually comes close to killing him – so much so, Goku has to interrupt the fight so he can get his turn. Unfortunately, Vegeta missed his window to beat Broly. While battling Goku, Broly taps into his full power, quickly matching and outclassing Goku & Vegeta's God forms. By the time Broly unlocks Super Saiyan, Goku and Vegeta have been completely surpassed, doubly so when Broly becomes a Legendary Super Saiyan. Vegeta's now much stronger than he was during Dragon Ball Super: Broly – in large part thanks to Ultra Ego – but Broly is a different tier of fighter compared to Vegeta.

Vegeta is Never Defeating Broly

Broly vs Vegeta

When it comes down to it, there's just no chance Vegeta is ever going to be able to defeat Broly. According to Saikyo Jump, Broly has so much natural potential, that mastering True Legendary Super Saiyan in Dragon Ball Super: Broly would have given him the power to actually defeat Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta. As of Dragon Ball Super Chapter 103, Broly is able to officially control True Legendary Super Saiyan, putting Vegeta at a serious disadvantage.

It doesn't help that Vegeta is slowly reaching the absolute limits of what he's capable of. Vegeta and Broly may be the same age, but the former has been fighting and training his entire life, while the latter is only starting his martial arts journey. Broly has so much more natural potential than Vegeta that, eventually, the Prince of All Saiyans won't be able to keep up anymore. If Dragon Ball Super follows Akira Toriyama's original timeline for Dragon Ball Online, Goku and Vegeta only have 17 more years before their lives start coming to an end, and they pass their prime.

Vegeta Still Hasn't Reached His Full Potential

While the notion of Vegeta ever beating Broly is wholly unrealistic, it's painfully clear that the Prince of All Saiyans has yet to reach the full peak of his power. Vegeta only just unlocked Ultra Ego, and he hasn't mastered the transformation the same way Goku has Perfected Ultra Instinct. Vegeta still needs an arc to perfect his ultimate form. Not just that, Vegeta's reached a point in his power where he doesn't even need Ultra Ego.

In Dragon Ball Super Chapter 103, Vegeta chooses to use Super Saiyan Blue Evolved to fight Gohan Beast instead of Ultra Ego. Considering Vegeta does not underestimate his opponents – and that Goku needed Perfected Ultra Instinct just to keep up with Gohan – this strongly implies that Vegeta is currently much stronger than he lets go. Vegeta may not be able to beat True Legendary Super Saiyan Broly, but he's well on his way to surpassing the rest of his fellow Saiyans if he hasn't already.
