The Dragon Ball Z universe boasts plenty of memorable villains, but few are as loved (and equally despised) as Frieza. Making his grand appearance in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1989 and during the second major arc of the anime series, the emperor of Universe 7 and son of King Cold is known for wiping out the Saiyan race by destroying Planet Vegeta. Frieza's ruthless nature and sadistic streak make him a fearsome foe, and his vast intelligence makes him even more dangerous. Despite facing numerous defeats at the hands of Goku and friends, Frieza is still a mainstay in the DBZ universe, and a new figure is perfect for fans of the legendary final battle on Namek.
Though Frieza was bested by his own attack after facing Super Saiyan Goku on Piccolo's home planet, the villain endures, returning as the primary villain in the 2015 film Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F' and a recurring character in Dragon Ball Super. While his recent appearances have been met with mixed emotions, Frieza's initial appearance on Namek marks one of the most impactful series of battles in the show's history, prompting Vegeta to plead with Goku to defeat the beast before his untimely death and seeing Goku reach the level of Super Saiyan for the first time. Now, a new figure pays homage to this epic final battle, and its impressive design is turning heads.

Frieza is one of many villains to get the figure treatment from S.H. Figuarts recently, with Fusion Android 13 also slated to hit shelves in October. Dodoria and Zarbon, Frieza's faithful cronies, will also launch as a pair in September. Earlier this month, the company also revealed a new Super Saiyan 4 Goku figure inspired by the final battle in Dragon Ball DAIMA, and in January, a vibrant recreation of Super Saiyan Trunks was confirmed to be on the way in July. The staying power of Dragon Ball Z can't be understated, as over 30 years after its final episode aired, fans are still clamoring to recreate its most memorable moments and pay homage to its memorable cast of characters.
April has been a busy month for Dragon Ball fans. Earlier this week, it was announced that new characters, stages, and game modes are on the way for Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero this summer with the Super Limit Breaking NEO update. Additionally, the mystery of Dragon Ball: Age 1000, which was officially revealed in January, has been solved, as the title was actually Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 all along. The game will feature a number of all-new characters designed by Akira Toriyama prior to his untimely death.
