Super Saiyan God changed everything for Goku when he unlocked it in Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods. For the first time since the start of the Cell Saga, Goku was once again the strongest Z-Fighter. Not just that, gaining access to God Ki showed Goku that there were still new heights for him to achieve throughout the multiverse by proving he hadn't even come close to reaching his full power.
Super Saiyan God is the result of a Saiyan using God Ki to transform rather than their regular Saiyan Ki. Goku unlocked Super Saiyan God by performing the God Ritual, but it's possible for an especially powerful Saiyan to brute force their way into triggering Super Saiyan God by training hard enough. Super Saiyan God – and its many variations – is one of the powerful God forms in Dragon Ball Super, offering the transformation specific advantages over Super Saiyan Blue.
Gohan Beast VS Ultra Ego Vegeta: What is the Strongest Transformation in Dragon Ball Super?
Gohan Beast may be strong enough to defeat Perfected Ultra Instinct Goku, but Ultra Ego Vegeta may prove too much to handle even for Gohan.
8 God's Crimson Radiance
Users: Goku
Because Goku performed the God Ritual to unlock Super Saiyan God in Battle of Gods, he only gained temporary access to the transformation. While fighting Beerus, the form eventually wears out and he depowers back down to Super Saiyan without realizing. That said, Goku’s body adapted to Super Saiyan God well enough where his base Power Level naturally rose just by being exposed to God Ki.
God's Crimson Radiance is a version of Super Saiyan God where the user is able to bring out some God’s natural power just by using the basic Super Saiyan transformation. Technically, every time Goku uses Super Saiyan 1 in Dragon Ball Super after Battle of Gods, he's using God’s Crimson Radiance.
7 Ritual Super Saiyan God
Users: Goku, Yamoshi
By gathering six pure-hearted Saiyans together, five of those Saiyan can perform the God Ritual to grant the sixth Saiyan a massive power boost which allows them to unlock Super Saiyan God. The Ritual version of Super Saiyan God is merely a temporary transformation that will wear out if the Saiyan using it fights too long. This is what happened to Yamoshi in the past, and to Goku during Battle of Gods.
Ritual Super Saiyan God is the weakest version of SSG after God’s Crimson Radiance, though this is to be expected. The Ritual version of Super Saiyan God is just an entry point into the form, as well as God Ki. Once a Saiyan has mastered how to use God Ki in their base state, it's possible to unlock a stronger version of Super Saiyan God that can be triggered willingly, just like any other Super Saiyan form.

6 Saiyan Beyond God
Users: Goku, Vegeta
Saiyan Beyond God is an offshoot of Super Saiyan God that allows the user to use all of SSG’s power without actually needing to transform. Saiyan Beyond God is only canon to the Dragon Ball Z movies and was retconned by the Dragon Ball Super anime and manga, where Goku and Vegeta still need to turn Super Saiyan God in order to use its full power.
By training on Whis’ Planet together, Goku and Vegeta end up mastering God Ki, absorbing all of Super Saiyan God’s latent power into their base forms. In the Dragon Ball Super continuity, the duo simply raise their base Power Level instead of absorbing SSG’s power into their bodies. Unlike God’s Crimson Radiance which is functionally a stronger version of SSJ, Saiyan Beyond God has a white aura and does not change the user’s physical appearance.
5 Super Saiyan God
Users: Goku, Vegeta, Shallot, Giblet, Shallet
Once a Saiyan has either performed the God Ritual or found another means to unlock God Ki, they can train their bodies into turning Super Saiyan God whenever they want. Vegeta notably unlocks Super Saiyan God just by training hard enough on Beerus' Planet. Unlike Goku, he didn't need to perform the God Ritual to unlock SSG. The biggest advantage to using Super Saiyan God over Super Saiyan Blue is the form's better Ki stability.
In the Dragon Ball Super manga, Super Saiyan Blue can only be triggered once per fight before severely reducing the user's Power Level. In the Universe 6 Tournament, Vegeta's power drops by 80% just by showing Cabba Super Saiyan Blue. Super Saiyan God is far more stable and can be used similarly to Kaioken, allowing the user to quickly trigger Super Saiyan Blue for more powerful attacks without crippling the user's Ki and stamina.
Dragon Ball Super 2 is Officially Determining the Real Strongest Saiyan
The Prince of All Saiyans, Vegeta is going to grow stronger than ever in Dragon Ball Super 2 as he unlocks new forms and finally surpass Goku.
4 Ultra Supervillain Super Saiyan God
Users: Vegeta
Ultra Supervillain is a dark form created by Fu in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, that he uses to corrupt other fighters. In an alternate timeline where Vegeta peformed the God Ritual to fight Beerus in Battle of Gods instead of Goku, Fu infects Vegeta and turns him into an Ultra Supervillain Super Saiyan God.
Ultra Supervillain Super Saiyan God Vegeta has purple and a purple aura like Ultra Ego, outclassing every single Z-Fighters in his timeline. Ultra Supervillain Super Saiyan God Vegeta is only stopped because he comes to his senses while fighting Super Saiyan God Goku. The power boost from Ultra Supervillain Super Saiyan God is also high enough to allow Vegeta to unlock Super Saiyan Blue faster than his main timeline counterpart.
3 Dark Super Saiyan God
Users: Giblet
Dark Ki was introduced in Dragon Ball Legends as a Ki type that can fully corrupt its user. Giblet is Shallot's twin brother and a powerful Ancient Saiyan who can turn into a Super Saiyan God. After being infected with Dark Ki, Giblet manages to take control of the dark energy and merge it with Super Saiyan God to become a Dark Super Saiyan God.
Dark Super Saiyan God is strong enough to fight on par with Super Saiyan Blue Kaoiken x20 Goku, and beat Syn Shenron – one of the strongest villains in Dragon Ball GT. Unlike the regular version of Super Saiyan God, Dark Super Saiyan God puts massive strain on the user's body and will eventually break them down similar to Kaioken.
Dragon Ball: 8 Strongest Evil Versions of Goku in the Multiverse, Ranked
The strongest versions of Goku’s evil counterparts are genuine threats to Dragon Ball’s multiverse who show no remorse.
2 God Broly
Users: Broly (Dragon Ball Z)
God Broly is the main villain of Dragon Ball Z: The Real 4-D at Super Tenkaichi Budokai, an attraction at Universal Studios Japan. It's never revealed how the DBZ version of Broly unlocked God Ki, but God Broly is an offshoot of Super Saiyan God that mixes Broly’s Legendary Super Saiyan transformation with God Ki.
God Broly is strong enough to overwhelm Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Vegeta at the same time. God Broly is only defeated when Goku fuses with the literal audience to become Super Saiyan Blue God Fusion Goku. Power-wise, God Broly is stronger than Goku and Vegeta were at the start of the Tournament of Power, but would realistically lose to Ultra Instinct Sign and Super Saiyan Blue Evolved, respectively.
1 True Ultra Instinct Super Saiyan God
Users: Goku
During the Granolah the Survivor Saga, Goku learns how to mix Ultra Instinct together with his various Super Saiyan forms. By calming his nerves while fighting Granolah, Goku manages to trigger Ultra Instinct while using Super Saiyan God at the same time. This is Goku’s first step to mastering True Ultra Instinct, a version of UI that allows him to react and attack instinctively, while at the same time taking advantage of his God form’s power multipliers.
True Ultra Instinct Super Saiyan God is far and away the strongest version of Super Saiyan God. Goku basically gets two power boosts in one, allowing him to tank a blow from Granolah that would otherwise have killed him on the spot. Mixing Ultra Instinct with SSG lets Goku dodge attacks faster than light and fight back with his own raw power. By this point in the series, however, Goku has fully mastered Super Saiyan Blue and quickly replaces TUISSG with True Ultra Instinct Super Saiyan Blue.
