Ensuring the safety of the main crew members might be on the mind of many players while playing Directive 8020, especially since choices and quick decisions can drastically change who survives until the end.
The game constantly presents situations where even a single failed interaction can permanently alter the story. In the case that you are aiming for the “We Have Reserves” trophy or achievement in Directive 8020, there are a few things you need to do in a very specific order, including allowing certain crew members to die. The guide below goes over every step required to unlock the trophy.
Directive 8020: Heirloom Retrieval (Dark Picture Dolls)
These Dark Pictures Dolls in Directive 8020 Are Ridiculously Well Hidden. Here's how to find them all.
How to Send the Second Team For Redirecting Fuel in Directive 8020
To begin, rewind to the “Redirect” section in Episode 8 if you have not already reached it. During this sequence, you will control Stafford as you try to restore power to the lift.
As you move toward the Crew Lounge, a Mimic version of Eisele will appear. Under normal circumstances, you are supposed to evade the enemy, but for this trophy, you actually need Stafford to die. Walk directly toward the Mimic, and when the QTE appears, intentionally press the wrong button to fail the interaction. This will cause the alien to kill Stafford.
In the following cutscene, Eisele runs away on her own, so there is nothing important you need to do there. Shortly after, the next section, called “Atrium,” begins. At the start of this section, a Lifeform impersonating another crew member appears directly ahead. Walk toward it and intentionally fail the QTE once again to ensure Eisele dies during this encounter as well.
Once both Stafford and Eisele are dead, a cutscene will automatically begin where Cooper attempts to contact them about the fuel. Since neither responds, Cooper decides to handle the task herself alongside Young. During the “Back Up” section, the surviving crew members complete the refueling operation during a cutscene, and the “We Have Reserves” trophy or achievement will unlock during this sequence.
If you are also trying to unlock the achievement for saving all crew members, there is no need to worry. You can simply unlock this trophy first and then rewind to the “Redirect” Turning Point to replay the section properly, or finish the story and return later using the Turning Points system.
