Herald's Morningstar is just one of the many different Unique items players can use exclusively for the Paladin class in Diablo 4. This is a specialized weapon that specifically focuses on the Blessed Hammer skill, so if you want to clear the game with a veritable storm of holy hammers flying around you, then you'll definitely want to get your hands on this weapon. Thankfully, Herald's Morningstar is one of the easier Uniques to farm in Diablo 4, and if you've been farming any of the minor lair bosses in the game, you should have enough materials to farm for this weapon too.
Updated May 18, 2026 by Marc Santos: The release of the Lord of Hatred expansion shuffled a lot of the drop locations for many Uniques. As such, we've updated the drop location for Herald's Morningstar in D4, and we also removed the section outlining its innate stats, as Uniques no longer come with fixed affixes as of Lord of Hatred.

The Heir of Perdition is a hot ticket item for many Diablo 4 builds. Learn how to get your own here.
How to Get Herald's Morningstar in D4
You can farm for Herald's Morningstar in D4 by beating Urivar, who you can find in the northeastern region of Nahantu. Previously, this weapon could be farmed from Duriel, but following the release of Lord of Hatred, many of the boss loot tables got shuffled around.
Players can fight Urivar in D4 at any time as soon as they are in any of the Torment difficulties. Just head to the Fields of Judgement in Nahantu's northeastern highlands, and get ready to tussle. To loot Urivar's boss hoard, you'll need a Lair Key, and if you have any leftover Judicator's Masks, you can transform five of those into a random Unique from Urivar's loot table by using the Horadric Cube.
As always, Belial can drop loot from any of the lair boss' loot pools. Also, you can get Uniques by opening Helltide chests and completing activities like Nightmare Dungeons and Kurast Undercity runs, though you'll have a higher chance of getting Herald's Morningstar in D4 just by farming Urivar.
You can also get a Herald's Morningstar by upgrading any Common 1H Mace into a Unique over at the Horadric Cube.
Herald's Morningstar Unique Effect
Herald's Morningstar is a Unique Mace that multiplies the damage dealt by Blessed Hammer while giving it a chance to spawn a base Blessed Hammer on Lucky Hits. If you stack enough Lucky Hit chance on your Paladin while you have this weapon equipped, then you can easily fill your screen with spiralling hammers, making it an excellent Unique item for pushing Pit tiers and clearing Infernal Hordes.
Note that Herald's Morningstar in D4 only spawns base Blessed Hammers. It won't shoot out any of the upgraded versions.
