The Horadric Cube returns in Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred, and it once again gives players a chance to modify their gear and craft a bunch of other stuff. It's a great way to fine-tune gear and get items that are otherwise hard to come by, but fully utilizing the Horadric Cube in Diablo 4 can be a bit confusing at first. This guide covers every recipe the cube has to offer, as well as some important notes on how it works.

The Heir of Perdition is a hot ticket item for many Diablo 4 builds. Learn how to get your own here.
How to Unlock the Horadric Cube in Diablo 4
Players will eventually get the Horadric Cube as they play through the Lord of Hatred campaign. The quest to get it is all the way near the end of the story, so it'll be a while before you can get your hands on it. Once you do complete the quest, go to Temis in Skovos, and you'll find the cube on its pedestal near the center of the main hub's craftsman's area.
Since the quest to get the Horadric Cube is at the tail end of the LoH campaign, players can expect to get it roughly 6–8 hours into the story. Thankfully, once you get it with one character, it'll be available for all characters on your account, assuming you skip the campaigns and dive straight into the endgame.
Using the Horadric Cube in Diablo 4
The Horadric Cube has a variety of functions, and all you have to do is either pick a recipe from its list, or put the necessary materials needed for crafting onto the cube's slots yourself. Apart from items, the Horadric Cube also requires Primordial Dust of various rarities. These drop randomly, though activities (such as Helltides and Nightmare Dungeons) have higher chances of rewarding you with Primordial Dust rewards when you finish them.

Most of these functions are fairly self-explanatory, but here's a quick rundown of what each of them does for your reference:
- Add Affix adds a random Affix to your item. Tuning Prisms narrows the category of the Affix that will be added.
- Remove Affix gets rid of a random Affix on youir item. Tuning Prisms narrows the category of the Affix that will be removed.
- Chaotic Reroll changes a random Affix to one of another category. Tuning Prisms determine the category of the Affix.
- Focused Reroll changes a random Affix to one of the same category. Tuning Prisms determine the category of the Affix.
- Transfigure Item works much like how Sanctification did in Season of Divine Intervention. It randomly modifies your item, with a high chance of making it Unmodifiable.
- Unique Power Reroll randomizes the value of an Ancestral Unique Item's power.
- 3 to 1 Transmutation takes three items of the same type into a new item of that same type.
- Recycle Unique turns three of the same Unique item/charm into a different version of that same item.
- Upgrade to Unique turns a Common item into a Unique one.
- Upgrade to Legendary turns a Rare item into a Legendary one. Great for getting Ancestral Legendaries.
- Reroll Set Charm transforms a Set Charm into a different one that belongs to the same set.
- Craft Unique Charm turns an Ancestral Unique Item into a Unique Charm. Not all Unique items can be turned into Charms.
- Amalgamation turns five of the same item into an upgraded version (i.e. 5 Rare Runes becomes 1 Legendary Rune). Does not work with equipment, though it can turn Boss Trophies into Uniques that drop from Boss Loot Tables.
Completing War Plans is a great way to farm the resources you need to perform any of these Horadric Cube functions. Not only will you get all the loot that drops from the activities themselves, but you will also get a generous reward of bonus items and resources after you complete all the nodes in your selected War Plan. If you'd rather do just one activity, Nightmare Dungeons or Helltides will do just fine.
Rune Crafting
The Horadric Cube can also be used to directly craft a variety of Legendary Runes. You can do this with the Amalgamation function, though you can also use specific Rune recipes. The latter requires specific Runes plus 5 Rare Runes and 5 Legendary Ritual/Invocation Runes. The recipes for this function are:
|
Rune |
Ingredient |
|---|---|
|
Ritual Rune: Bac |
1x Prid 5x Rare Runes 5x Legendary Invocation Runes |
|
Ritual Rune: Igni |
1x Teb 5x Rare Runes 5x Legendary Invocation Runes |
|
Ritual Rune: Tam |
1x Ner 5x Rare Runes 5x Legendary Invocation Runes |
|
Ritual Rune: Yul |
1x Ur 5x Rare Runes 5x Legendary Invocation Runes |
|
Invocation Rune: Eom |
1x Tzic 5x Rare Runes 5x Legendary Ritual Runes |
|
Invocation Rune: Jah |
1x Cem 5x Rare Runes 5x Legendary Ritual Runes |
|
Invocation Rune: Ohm |
1x Qua 5x Rare Runes 5x Legendary Ritual Runes |
|
Invocation Rune: Vex |
1x Gar 5x Rare Runes 5x Legendary Ritual Runes |
|
Invocation Rune: Yom |
1x Kry 5x Rare Runes 5x Legendary Ritual Runes |
Using the Rune Crafting feature is a much better way to get the Runes that you actually need for your build, though a single recipe requires a lot of materials. This is only recommended for when you've built up a sizable stockpile of Runes. Otherwise, you might be better off buying Runes from other players instead.
