Devil May Cry Season 1 came out back in April 2025, and the series didn't take much time to grab the attention of every DMC fan. With the amazing character designs, cool protagonist, and outstanding visuals, the first season really lived up to all the hype. Fans didn't expect anything less from Adi Shankar, the brilliant mind who gave us the Castlevania series.

However, when the stakes went even higher with the arrival of Vergil, Devil May Cry bid us goodbye, breaking millions of hearts. Given the popularity and a fandom eagerly waiting to see what's next, creators announced Devil May Cry Season 2 within a week of the pilot installment's release. After a year, Devil May Cry fans finally get a trailer that hints at the thrilling events that will take place in the new season – and the epic battle between Dante and Vergil.

Devil May Cry Season 2 Gets First Official Trailer

Netflix confirmed the release date for Devil May Cry Season 2 last month through a short teaser. The much-awaited next chapter of Dante's journey will release on May 12, 2026. Since Season 2 is less than a month away, Netflix decided to up the hype with the first official trailer. Well, let's just say if you liked the first season, you are going to really love the second installment.

The first trailer of Devil May Cry is amazing enough to push every fan to set a countdown timer for Season 2. The sequence featuring Dante as he says, "Vergil, what did Mundus do to you?" is enough to show what is about to come. Following that, we get a glimpse of the fight between the two legendary brothers. The enmity between Dante and Vergil has been a key element of Devil May Cry's vast lore, and seeing it getting transitioned into a screen adaptation is certainly a huge thing for those who have been keeping up with the franchise all these years.

Dressin' up as my dead brother… a little bit much. Personally I would've stuck to being a creepy baby, it was workin’ for you! - Dante in Devil May Cry Season 1

Vergil and Dante started out as normal brothers, sharing a similar bond that most of us have with our siblings. However, things completely changed when a demon killed their mother, Eva. The boys were traumatized and alone in the cruel world, so both of them walked different paths to deal with the tragedy. While Dante never let his humanity fade, Vergil chose a dark path in his vulnerable state and turned into something that positioned him opposite his brother. It's a sad enough tale to make any fan emotional, but their journeys will take some unusual and surprising turns as we move ahead, and we'll see some of that in Season 2.

Mundus' Influence Over Vergil Raises The Stakes For Season 2

Mundus had taken advantage of Vergil's poor emotional state when the boy didn't know what was right for him. Since then, Mundus has influenced him and turned him against humanity. Now that Vergil has reappeared, it will be interesting to see how Dante deals with this messed-up situation. Dante and Vergil are the sons of Sparda, who was the only demon to go against Mundus and his kind for the sake of humans.

He was strong enough to take an entire army of demons singlehandedly, and being his sons, Vergil and Dante hold the same strength and powers. Seeing them fight against each other, along with some new character introductions, is not going to be any less of a visual spectacle. Devil May Cry Season 2 is shaping up to be an amazing season, and will stream exclusively on Netflix in a couple of weeks.
