The official Destiny 2 account on Twitter confirmed that one armor set is being disabled due to major issues, and it won't be re-enabled ever again. Destiny 2's unceremonious death has been discussed aplenty by content creators, fans, and even other developer studios, as the game was for a long time the epitome of live-service done right. Between poor upper management decisions and the main story coming to a close with The Final Shape, Edge of Fate and Renegades failed to pull in enough players to sustain the game long-term.
As unfortunate as this is, it was already stated by Bungie before the layoffs that Destiny 2 would enter a state where fixing bugs would be too difficult with no allocated resources. Now, with most of the team developing the game laid off, it's even clearer that the game is not even in maintenance mode. The flip side is that beneficial glitches and interactions won't be fixed, either. As such, Destiny 2 players can solo AFK farm a Dungeon Boss in Sundered Doctrine with no fear of a nerf, for example, and this will stay in the game forever.
Say Goodbye to This Armor Set in Destiny 2
Due to an issue where players could spawn infinite Special ammo in the Crucible, Destiny 2 is disabling an armor set bonus to prevent further problems. This is the 4-piece bonus from the Cyberserpent Null set obtained in Gambit, and it will no longer work in all Crucible playlists, including Iron Banner, which just returned this week. The set provides Adrenal Rush with its 2-piece bonus, giving players weapon reload speed and handling after sprinting. Instead, the set bonus that is being disabled is Bountiful Munitions, which grants progress towards Special ammo with final blows while Adrenal Rush is active. The set will still work in PVE, though, as stated in the post.

At the start of July 2026, Bungie had to make the unfortunate call of disabling both the Grasp of Avarice and Duality Dungeon armor sets in Destiny 2. These were disabled in the Crucible due to game-breaking issues, and it's particularly sad because the armor sets were released alongside the Monument of Triumph update not even one month prior. Then, Destiny 2 disabled Divinity in Pantheon, specifically in the Insurrection Prime encounter, as the gun was allowing players to skip all mechanics in the fight and kill the boss for loot over and over while simply standing in the spawn zone. Not only that, but this also led to toxicity within the community, with players kicking others from groups if they didn't have the most optimal loadout to kill Insurrection Prime as fast as possible.
The game is far from catching a break from bad news, though. Less than 24 hours ago, Destiny 2's Datto decided to retire, officially closing the deed on August 18. That day will mark the final Destiny 2 upload on the DattoDoesDestiny YouTube channel, but Datto will continue to be active as a Deadlock player.
For those who are still playing the game, there are at least some silver linings about the current state of Destiny 2. For example, Destiny 2's best meta build is super easy, as all it requires is the Hierarchy of Needs Exotic bow and a Void Hunter with the Moebius Quiver Super and the Fortune's Favor Exotic boots to deal a lot of damage even solo. This is then boosted tenfold for every other player on the team with the same Exotic weapon.
