While it may not have been the best-kept secret leading up to Summer Games Fest 2026, Cronos: The New Dawn is getting an official expansion pack titled Cronos: Lazarus, launching later this year. Cronos: The New Dawn launched in September of last year to great reviews, proving that Bloober Team has a lot in the tank following an excellent remake of Silent Hill 2.
Bloober Team has been on a hot streak for the past few years, coming into its own as a household name in horror. 2024’s Silent Hill 2 brought Bloober Team from a small-scale horror studio that made “walking sims” to the big time with a faithful adaptation of Konami's psychological horror classic. Following that success, Cronos: The New Dawn launched in 2025 to rave reviews, proving that Bloober can maintain the momentum with its own original game. Rumors and speculation about a new project from the horror studio have been rampant ever since Bloober started hinting at something new in February, and while most of what the Bloober team is working on is still under wraps, fans now have at least one new project that should keep them satiated until the horror studio drops its next big thing.
Why You Should Replay Cronos: The New Dawn At Least Once
Bloober Team's Cronos: The New Dawn is a highly enjoyable survival horror game that also has some good reasons for fans to replay it.
Cronos: The New Dawn Reveals Fast-paced, Gory DLC Coming This Fall
Following up on the hit that was Cronos: The New Dawn, Bloober Team has now revealed the upcoming Cronos: Lazarus DLC, which seems to be taking the violence and gore up a notch. Lazarus will be a prequel DLC that lets the player take on the role of the Warden, an elite agent of The Collective, as he becomes the character fans see in the base game. The Warden will have a whole new set of skills that will let players navigate combat quickly and aggressively, shifting the pace from Cronos' slower, tense feel to a faster, more dominant combat style. Cronos: Lazarus is slated for release sometime in the fall of 2026.

Bloober Team's official press release regarding Cronos: Lazarus states that the Warden will be up against the Tracker, a new villain that players can likely assume will be a stalker-type enemy similar to Mr. X from Resident Evil. To fight and evade the Tracker, the Warden will have to use a whole new set of tricks, including decoys and teleportation, to outmaneuver the persistent threat in an expansion that ups the pressure and danger of Cronos: The New Dawn. Additionally, Bloober says that Lazarus' prequel story will focus on the inner conflict and defiance of The Collective.
The reveal of Cronos: Lazarus follows a series of leaks and rumors that Bloober Team had something in store for its 2025 breakout hit. Speculation about what Bloober has been cooking up has been a major topic of conversation among survival horror fans, especially given that Bloober says it has 7 projects currently in production, including a remake of the original Silent Hill. What's more, along with the reveal of Cronos: The New Dawn's new story DLC, Bloober had another huge announcement to accompany Lazarus.
Bloober Team has also announced Saw: Genesis, an asymmetrical horror game developed by Broken Mirror, Anshar Studios, and published by Bloober. With Lionsgate now working with Bloober to develop a game for one of the biggest horror franchises of all time, it's clear that the studio has come a long way since Layers of Fear. Hopefully, Cronos: Lazarus continues the momentum that Bloober has accrued in the past couple of years.
