One of the best things about the world of Crimson Desert is that players can enter almost every house, building, or shack, as long as they have a key on them. Unless a door features a unique design or is part of a quest, it can be opened with a generic key that can be acquired rather easily in the game. Here's how you can stock up on keys, so no locked door can halt your exploration of Pywel.
Every Feature Confirmed for Crimson Desert So Far
Crimson Desert is a massive game, and while the features confirmed so far are only a fraction of everything it offers, it's still an extensive list.
How to Get Keys in Crimson Desert
If you've come across a locked door in the game while exploring various settlements in Crimson Desert, it might have prompted you to get a key. While the first time around, it might have felt like you needed to find a specific key for that particular door, but that's not the case. Keys are generic items that can unlock most of the locked doors, provided you have enough of them.
Here are a few reliable methods for getting Keys, which can especially help you if you're trying to sneak into locations to steal items.
Keys are used automatically when you approach a locked door. While that may be convenient, this can cause you to accidentally use keys on doors you may not want to unlock.
Looting Enemy Bodies
One of the easiest ways to get to the Keys in Crimson Desert is by simply engaging in combat. You'll encounter Bandits, Goblins, and other enemy types while exploring the open world, and fighting them is completely optional outside of quests. However, if you do engage in combat, you'll eventually get to loot their bodies once the fighting settles.
While it's not a guaranteed drop, there's a pretty good chance you can get Keys from their bodies, sometimes more than one. However, you'll need to loot their bodies quickly, as they will despawn after a couple of seconds.
Back Alley Shop
Back Alley Shops have everything you need to start a lawless life in Pywel, including keys to enter various houses and loot them clean. You can purchase a limited amount of keys for 30 coins a piece. While the prices are a bit high, you can always rely on the Back Alley Shop vendor to get you a fresh supply of keys in Crimson Desert every day, so you never run out.
While these shady vendors are located all over the map, you can find the first one just southeast of Hernand City, along the stream. When you get close to the location marked above, you'll see an NPC icon with a "question mark," allowing you to track the merchant's shop easily.
