Buried Treasure Quest Guide In Crimson Desert (Traces From Ursula's Journal)

In the Buried Treasure quest in Crimson Desert, players must follow a cryptic clue from Ursula's journal to find her buried treasure.

Crimson Desert Homestead: Old Friend

Old Friend Heartopia

Homestead begins quietly after the chaos of Chapter 2, where you defeat Kailok. You’re pointed to visit Hernand’s back alleys, where a rumor about a surviving Greymane leads you to Marius. Head to the northwest section of town near the blacksmith and inn, where you’ll find Marius leaning on a wall in the grassy yard.

A short conversation with him confirms that Andrew and Naira are still alive. This ties back to earlier story threads and reinforces that the Greymanes are far from finished. Marius doesn’t stick around long, though. He leaves you with a clear objective: meet the Marquis and begin rebuilding.

The next phase, First Step to Rebuilding, sends you to Oakenshield Manor. It’s a large estate with a central courtyard. After speaking to the servant outside, you’ll meet Marquis Serkis. He offers land to the Greymanes and gives you your first proper base.

Before leaving the manor, take a moment to scan the reception hall with your Visione. You will find the Oakenshield Manor Reception Room Memory Fragment. It’s optional, but worth watching if you want some more context.

When you’re ready, follow the escort out of the manor and ride toward Howling Hill. The journey itself is uneventful, but it’s a good opportunity to collect bounty posters along the way. These are easy sources of income early on, and picking them up now saves time later.

You’ll pass by the Bluemont Cask House during the ride. It’s filled with enemies, but this isn’t the time to clear it. The escort soldier NPC can leave and go back to the starting point if you engage, which will slow down your progress.

Continue to follow the soldier on horseback all the way to Howling Hill.

Crimson Desert Homestead: A Fresh Start

When you arrive at Howling Hill, you’ll be introduced to Damiane, your second playable character, and tasked with setting up the camp.

Damiane plays very differently from Kliff. Her firearm abilities also give you a ranged option that feels more aggressive compared to Kliff’s bow. It’s worth spending a bit of time getting comfortable with her, especially since she can handle most of the side content. Of course, Damiane can’t do any Kliff-specific quests.

The camp setup involves four tasks:

  • Move the Sacks
  • Drive in the Stakes
  • Push the Wagon
  • Raise the Banner

Move the Sacks

You’ll have to move three sacks to the marked area. They must be carried one at a time. It’s pretty simple once you realize the destination is directly behind you in the wooden storage area, not across the camp. The markers can be misleading, so don’t overthink it.

Drive in the Stakes

Driving in the stakes requires a mallet, which you equip like a weapon. You can find a Mallet on the wooden table near you. Aim carefully at the top of each stake to pound them into the ground as part of setting up your tent.

Push the Wagon

Before you can move the wagon, you’ll need to clear the boulders blocking the track. Grab the pickaxe from the wooden crate near the rocks. With the pickaxe in hand, just smash the rocks. Then, get behind the wagon and hold forward to walk into it. Push it steadily until it is safely tucked under the tent.

Raise the Banner

Finally, you need to hoist the Greymane's banner at the main entrance. Head down the path leading out of camp; you'll find the flag lying on the ground. Use Nature’s Grasp to lift the flag, aim at the stand and place it cleanly to finish the sequence.

Once all four tasks are done, the camp becomes functional.

Crimson Desert Homestead: Reward for Their Sweat

The next quest, Reward for Their Sweat, asks you to cook for the camp. The dish you’ll have to cook is Clear Soup. Before touching the cooking pot, read the recipe on the nearby table. Clear Soup doesn’t require a lot of fancy ingredients, and it’s something that you’ll be making frequently in Crimson Desert.

You only need two servings, and the ingredients are limited. If you accidentally cook something else, you may not have enough materials left, and you’ll be forced to gather more. Once prepared, serve the soup to the workers to complete the quest.

Crimson Desert Homestead: Return of the Comrade

Return of the Comrade is a short but important mission. You’ll need to switch back to Kliff and ride out to pick up Marius. He’s waiting at a nearby camp, and once you reach him, you simply escort him back to Howling Hill.

There’s no real challenge here. This is just the point where your camp begins operating properly. With Marius back, your camp becomes more than a story hub. The Greymane system lets you recruit comrades and send them on missions. These missions run in the background and generate resources like food, materials, and currency.

Crimson Desert Homestead: Familiar Curses

The final major quest in Homestead is Familiar Curses. You’re tasked with rescuing another Greymane from Saint Halssius’s House of Healing. The easiest method to get inside is to buy a disguise from a guard near the entrance. For a small amount of silver, you can walk in freely without raising suspicion. Alternative methods exist, like sneaking through the roof or using a visitor pass, but they take more effort for the same result.

Once inside, find your way to the central courtyard, then head into the prison area. Climb to the second floor and move through the dormitory until you encounter a disturbance. This leads you to Yann, the Greymane you’re looking for.

From here, just follow Yann, mount the wagon he provides, and ride back toward camp.

Crimson Desert Homestead Rewards

Completing the Homestead questline in Crimson Desert gives you a solid set of early-game rewards. You’ll receive Iron Ore for crafting, a Large Bag to expand your inventory space, and Clear Soup.

Optional rewards come from the House of Healing infiltration. If you buy a disguise, you’ll unlock the full St. Halssius Priest outfit set. These items are mostly cosmetic but help with stealth. Even if missed, they can still be purchased later, so nothing is permanently locked.
