Clash Royale has a huge variety of cards, and that’s why there are so many different deck types. Some decks, like Miner Poison, focus more on defense and slow damage, while others, like PEKKA or Golem, build massive pushes.
If you want to dominate your opponent, one important skill is recognizing their deck early. Just by seeing a few cards, you can often guess the strategy that they hope to play. At higher arenas, players don’t usually run random decks, so knowing the common archetypes gives you a big advantage.
Find out all the main deck archetypes in Clash Royale and the best deck for each strategy below!
Clash Royale: Best Deck for Every Arena (2026)
Climbing arenas in Clash Royale can get confusing with so many cards. Here are the best decks to help you push from Arena 1 to 17 easily.
All Deck Strategies in Clash Royale
There are six types of decks in Clash Royale:
- Beatdown Decks
- Control Decks
- Bait Decks
- Bridge Spam Decks
- Siege Decks
- Cycle Decks
Beatdown Decks
- Beatdown Decks rely on a single Tank to push, supported by other troops from behind.
- Best Beatodwn Deck:

Beatdown is usually the first type of deck most players use in Clash Royale. The idea is to build one big push with a tank in front and support it with other troops. The classic Giant plus Witch combo from early arenas is a perfect example of this playstyle.
You usually start by placing your tank behind your King Tower. As it slowly moves up, you add support troops behind it, and by the time it reaches the bridge, you have built a strong push. Cards like Giant, Golem, and Lava Hound are the main win conditions here. Most of the time, you only get one or two big pushes in a match, so you have to make them count.
The downside is that defense can feel a bit tricky. Beatdown decks are expensive, so if your opponent attacks the other lane while you’re building your push, it can put you in a tough spot. You might be forced to spend elixir on defense, which weakens your main push.
Control Decks
- Control Decks rely on slow and focused gameplay where you chip away at enemy health while defending.
- Best Control Deck:
|
Clash Royale Cards |
Elixir Cost |
|---|---|
|
Miner |
Three |
|
Little Prince |
Three |
|
Poison |
Four |

Royal Ghost |

Control decks are basically the opposite of Beatdown. Instead of going all-in with big pushes, you play it slow and focus more on defense. They are a bit harder to learn at first, but once you get used to them, they can be really annoying to play against.
With Control, you are not trying to take a tower in one push. You chip away at it little by little while constantly defending. Over time, that small damage adds up and is usually enough to win the match.
Most Control decks also run a heavy spell like Rocket or Poison. These help players deal damage to the tower while also clearing the opponent's troops.
Bait Decks
- Bait Decks are used to bait opponent counters so you can use your win condition.
- Best Bait Deck:
|
Clash Royale Cards |
Elixir Cost |
|---|---|
|
Knight |
Three |
|
Princess |
Three |

Goblin Barrel |

Goblin Gang |

Inferno Tower |

The Log |

Ice Spirit |

Bait decks are very popular right now. In the right matchup, they can be frustrating for your opponent. These decks use cheap, low HP cards like Princess, Dart Goblin, and Goblin Gang.
In these decks, you force your opponent to use their swarm counters like Log or Arrows, then punish them once those spells are out of cycle. After you bait out their spell, you use your win condition and get huge value since they don’t have the right answer in hand.
When playing against Beatdown decks, try to deal as much damage as you can early on. Heavy pushes can be hard to stop later, so getting that early chip damage can make a big difference by the end of the match.
Bridge Spam Decks
- Bridge Spam is used to pressure your opponents at the bridge to force them to make a mistake so you can take advantage.
- Best Bridge Spam Deck:
|
Clash Royale Cards |
Elixir Cost |
|---|---|
|
Battle Ram |
Four |
|
Royal Ghost |
Three |
|
Ice Golem |
Two |
|
Lumberjack |
Four |
|
Zappies |
Four |
|
Inferno Dragon |
Four |
|
Fireball |
Four |
|
Zap |
Two |
For Bridge Spam, you keep playing cards at the bridge to pressure your opponent nonstop. The goal is to force mistakes from your opponents and punish them when they fall for it, or if they get an elixir advantage. Most Bridge Spam decks run Battle Ram and Bandit.
PEKKA Bridge Spam used to dominate for a long time, but with Bait decks being so popular now, it’s lost some of its power. The old PEKKA build relies on Zap and Fireball, which can’t handle cards like Princess or Dart Goblin quickly enough, and the deck is a bit heavy to cycle efficiently.
The version we've provided fits perfectly into today’s meta as it costs only 3.4 elixir!
Siege Decks
- Siege Decks focus on ranged attacks to fight from a safe distance.
- Best Siege Deck:
|
Clash Royale Cards |
Elixir Cost |
|---|---|
|
Archers |
Three |
|
Electro Spirit |
One |
|
Knight |

|
X-Bow |

Fireball |

The Log |

Skeletons |

Siege decks are a totally different playstyle from the standard "push the enemy". Your win condition is a building, and it’s placed behind your side of the arena. That way, your opponent’s towers can’t touch yours, and you can damage their towers from a safe distance. The buildings you can use for this are Mortar and X-Bow.
Since your building can be countered, these decks come with cheap support cards to defend it and cycle back to it faster than your opponent returns to their counter. The classic Tesla X-Bow deck is a perfect example of a Siege deck. It has been dominating the meta for years and is still one of the strongest Siege decks out there.
Cycle Decks
- Cycle Decks rely on cheap cards to outcycle your opponents.
- Best Cycle Deck:
|
Clash Royale Cards |
Elixir Cost |
|---|---|
|
Goblin Drill |
Four |
|
Knight |
Three |
|
Goblins |
Two |
|
Fire Spirit |
One |
|
Bomber |
Two |
|
Poison |
Four |
|
Snowball |
Two |
|
Cannon |
Three |
Lastly, we have Cycle decks. They are cheap, have multiple one and two-elixir cards, and usually cost less than 3.0 Elixir.
While playing these decks, you want to outcycle your opponent’s counters to your win condition. If you can keep track of their elixir, you can keep pressure on them constantly.
These decks often include a defensive building, but most of the defense comes from cards like Ice Spirit, Skeletons, and Ice Golem. Therefore, players must be careful with their placements.
How to Build Your Own Deck in Clash Royale
Winning battles and climbing leaderboards is easier when you copy a great meta deck. I've shared a personal favorite for you to follow, but if you want to make your own deck (and I encourage creativity), then you can find some tips below.
The most important thing is your win condition. Pick one or two cards that will mainly deal damage to towers. If you’re using a heavy card like Golem or Electro Giant, stick to just one win condition. But if you’re using something lighter like Miner, you can pair it with another card like Wall Breakers to get more damage.
Secondly, make sure you have good air defense. Players should include at least two cards that can deal with air units. Cards like Musketeer, Archers, or Baby Dragon are all good choices, but make sure they fit your deck. For example, if you are using Golem, Evo Baby Dragon is perfect, as it helps defense and also supports your push.
Next, players should add a mini tank and a cheap card for defense. A common combo is Knight and Skeletons because they are affordable and reliable. You can also add a building if you feel like your defense needs a bit more help.
Lastly, always carry two spells. Pick ones that work well with your deck. For example, the Giant Snowball pairs nicely with cards like Goblin Drill or Balloon. Along with a cheap spell, you should also have a heavier one. This helps you deal with medium HP troops, or at least weaken them enough so your small spell or splash damage can finish the job.
We’d only recommend trying your own deck in the early arenas. These homemade decks can be a bit hit or miss, so it’s better to experiment when you are just starting out.
