As if out of nowhere, Chainsaw Man has officially ended with the release of Chapter 232, "Thank You, Chainsaw Man." Despite several storylines and character arcs never coming to a proper conclusion, Tatsuki Fujimoto's hit manga has come to a decisive end with no real chance for Part 3. Not only does the final chapter show no evidence whatsoever that the series will continue, there's nowhere for Chainsaw Man's story to go now that Pochita has reset the timeline and given Denji a second chance at life.

Chainsaw Man Part 2's ending is sure to go down as one of the most controversial manga endings in recent memory (which is saying something considering Shonen Jump's track record in the past few years). Chainsaw Man's series finale has a lot of thematic weight, but is clearly rushed, and it almost feels like Tatsuki Fujimoto simply wanted to get the series over with after weeks of Denji and Yoru fighting in a final battle that never truly came to a fitting end.

Chainsaw Man Chapter 232 is the Manga's Series Finale

Unlike Chainsaw Man Part 1, which ended with the reveal that there would be a sequel story arc following a break, Chainsaw Man Part 2 ends with no such announcement. Chainsaw Man Chapter 232 really is the series' final chapter, and it seems highly unlikely Tatsuki Fujimoto will announce a follow-up story to the manga now that Denji's been sent back in time. The chapter even goes out of its way to wrap up some loose threads (albeit leaving several other details in limbo).

For better or worse, Chainsaw Man Chapter 232 is the end of Denji, Pochita, and Chainsaw Man's story. Thematically, there's something to be said about Pochita depriving the chance of Denji becoming Chainsaw Man in order to give him a better life – something Chapter 232 does justify. Unfortunately, Chainsaw Man Chapter 232 is quite short for an ending chapter, and Denji doesn't seem all that much happier than he was during the main series, so it's hard to say what message or feeling exactly Fujimoto wants readers to walk away with.

Chainsaw Man Chapter 232 Ending

Many fans were holding out hope that Chainsaw Man Part 2 would end with an announcement for Part 3. After all, Chainsaw Man Part 2 introduced several storylines that never wrapped up properly. Denji never found Power, Nayuta's fate was still ambiguous, Primal Fears were introduced as a concept but never fully explored, and the whole series was building up to an apocalypse that started during Denji and Yoru's final battle, but never fully came to fruition.

Instead of using these hanging threads to set up a follow-up to Chainsaw Man Part 2, Tatsuki Fujimoto instead had Pochita erase himself, resetting the Chainsaw Man timeline and sending Denji back to the beginning of the series, where he reunites with both Power and Nayuta, saves Asa from becoming an outcast at school by preventing her from killing Bucky, and ends with Denji and Power once again being Devil Hunting buddies under the employment of the Control Devil.

Chainsaw Man Chapter 232, "Thank You, Chainsaw Man" ends with a definitive "The End" banner on the corner of the page, unlike the ending of Chainsaw Man Chapter 97, which closed out with the huge reveal that the chapter was merely the “END OF PART ONE: Public Safety Arc”. By all accounts, Chainsaw Man is officially over and there will be no Part 3.
