Capcom has been on an incredible roll, and it doesn't seem like the company's momentum is going to slow down any time soon. Capcom has been one of the premiere video game developers and publishers for decades now, with a number of groundbreaking, high-profile franchises under its belt, including Mega Man, Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, and Monster Hunter, to name just a handful.
Like any game company, Capcom has had its ups and downs over the years. There was a period a little over a decade ago when Resident Evil lost its way and various Mega Man projects were canceled when it seemed like maybe Capcom's best days were behind it. But then Capcom came back swinging with Resident Evil 7, which served as a renaissance for its flagship survival-horror series, and while there have been a couple of misses since then, the company has mostly been delivering a nonstop barrage of high-quality gaming experiences.
Resident Evil Requiem Review: A Horror Gaming Masterpiece
By expertly blending pure horror and over-the-top action, Resident Evil Requiem becomes the ultimate Resident Evil experience.
Capcom's 2026 Output Has Been Incredible
Just look at Capcom's 2026 output so far. In February, Capcom released Resident Evil Requiem to rave reviews, with the game's impressive 89 overall rating making it one of the highest-rated games of the year, and one of the highest-rated RE games ever made. A month later, Monster Hunter Stories 3 hit the scene with similarly high praise (earning an 85 score), and most recently, Pragmata was released to mostly positive reviews as well (earning an 87 score). Three of the highest-rated games of 2026 are from Capcom, and there's even more to look forward to in the months ahead.
Capcom's full 2026 slate has yet to be detailed, but we do know that Onimusha: Way of the Sword is releasing in 2026. Onimusha: Way of the Sword is a reboot of Capcom's action-adventure samurai series, and what's been shown so far has looked incredibly impressive. If Capcom's other 2026 efforts are any indication, chances are good that Onimusha: Way of the Sword will turn out to be one of the better new game releases of the year.
Capcom's Hot Streak Has Been Going on For Years At This Point
Capcom's hot streak really started in 2017 with Resident Evil 7's release, and the company has been on fire ever since. There have been some failed experiments, like the Exoprimal multiplayer dinosaur game that didn't quite take off and the Resident Evil Re:Verse spin-off that has since been shut down, but by and large, Capcom's output has been high quality.
Street Fighter 6 won Best Fighting Game at The Game Awards 2023, Devil May Cry 5 won Best Action Game at The Game Awards 2019, and multiple Resident Evil games have been nominated for Game of the Year. Capcom's remakes, collections, and remasters have given fans the chance to relive some of the company's older favorites as well, ensuring that there's a healthy mix of old-school games and brand-new releases.
While Capcom is keeping much of its future games secret, leaks and rumors have revealed that more Resident Evil remakes are on the way, with Code: Veronica believed to be on deck for 2027 and Resident Evil Zero coming in 2028. A second remake of the first Resident Evil game is believed to be in production as well. As far as officially announced games go, we've got Mega Man: Dual Override coming in 2027, and that's shaping up to be a wonderful return to form for the Blue Bomber.
