Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 brings back Freerun for Season 3 Reloaded and, by competing in the mode and completing its own dedicated limited-time event, players can earn some great rewards. However, some players may be having trouble earning the Innovate Camo by completing Freerun Ascent within a certain amount of time. Luckily, we have compiled a list of all the known shortcuts in Ascent Freerun to help you out.

All Zone 1 Ascent Freerun Shortcuts
Zone 1 Checkpoint 8
The very first and only major shortcut in Zone 1 is at Checkpoint 8. Here, players can skip straight to Checkpoint 10 by doing the following:
- Jump straight off the platform towards the curved wall to the left
- Wall jump to the middle wall
- Kick off the middle wall to the other wall ahead
- Wall kick up towards the ledge and mantle up
All Zone 2 Ascent Freerun Shortcuts
Zone 2 Checkpoint 1
In Zone 2, you can skip the dive and ladder sections by wall jumping above the wall with the arrows on it, and then wall jumping again from the top over to the ledge above the ladder.
Zone 2 Checkpoints 2 & 3
In Checkpoint 2, jump across the gaps between the pathways to cut down on time. Then, just before the section where you would normally need to dive through, jump past it to the platform to get to Checkpoint 4 quicker.
Zone 2 Checkpoint 4
At Checkpoint 4, you will have a wall jump segment where you would usually jump from one wall to the other. Instead, dip to the right and jump up the wall there to get up faster.
Zone 2 Checkpoint 8
At Checkpoint 8, you can take one of two routes to get up the ladder segment much faster. The first route is to wall jump from the left-hand side and chain together a couple of kicks to get straight to the ledge. The second is to simply jump just to the left of the ladder on the right, wall jump up, and then grab onto the ladder to skip most of it.
All Zone 3 Ascent Freerun Shortcuts
Zone 3 Checkpoint 8
While there are a few sections that players can complete faster by jumping over to the end of pathways instead of running along them, the first major skip for Zone 3 comes following the target wall jump at Checkpoint 8. Here, just before the zipline, jump towards the pillar and wall jump off it in the direction of the zipline to gain a boost.
Zone 3 Checkpoint 10
At the end of the zipline from Checkpoint 8 to 10, you can actually skip the wall jump by getting onto the sofa on the right wall, and then wall jumping vertically to climb over it.
All Zone 4 Ascent Freerun Shortcuts
Zone 4 Checkpoint 2
Immediately at Checkpoint 2, upon taking the zipline from Checkpoint 1, you can skip straight to the next platform by wall jumping between the two walls to the right.
Zone 4 Checkpoint 4
This next shortcut is pretty hard to pull off, as it requires players to G-Slide / Slide Jump, a movement technique that allows players to jump further. Here is a quick rundown of how to G-Slide / Slide Jump:
- Sprint and slide just before the edge of a ledge.
- Press the jump button and then the sprint button in quick succession.
- If done correctly, you should jump a little further.
Once you have mastered the G-Slide / Slide Jump, you can complete the wall jump section at Checkpoint 4 faster by G-Sliding / Slide Jumping off the ledge towards the floating Yoichi food truck and then jumping off it to reach the platform on the other side.
Zone 4 Checkpoint 5
Immediately past Checkpoint 4, you can take another shortcut straight to Checkpoint 6. To do so, wall jump from the right wall towards the end of the ramp and mantle up to the bus stop on the right, then jump from the stop to the wall on the right, jumping off it to reach Checkpoint 6.
Zone 4 Checkpoint 7
At Checkpoint 7, there are two shortcuts that you can take, one of which is slightly easier than the other, whereas the other one is faster, albeit much harder to pull off. Before attempting either one, wall jump on top of the section where you would otherwise dive through.
First, let’s go over the easier shortcut. From the platform you are standing on, jump over to the thin wall on the right, and then jump from this wall to the pillar in front, before wall jumping vertically and looking up to mantle upwards. From here, you can simply follow the path along (Cipher location) and then jump straight down to Checkpoint 10.
Alternatively, for the harder route, you can G-Slide / Slide Jump towards the screen on the left (be sure to aim towards the portrait’s shoulder to do this correctly), wall jump to reach the small metal platform on the end, and then use the wall on the left to wall jump towards an invisible barrier just before the pathway towards Checkpoint 10. Cap it off with a vertical wall bounce up to the platform.
Zone 4 Checkpoint 14
At Checkpoint 14, you can get across the triple wall jump section without having to shoot the target. To do so, head through the little gap between the wall and the wall jump segments to the left. Here, chain three wall jumps from left to right, though you will need to deliberately lengthen each jump to reach the end.
Zone 4 Checkpoint 15
At Checkpoint 15, complete the very first wall jump as normal. Then, at the second platform, skip the double wall jump and instead sprint jump directly towards the corner of the next platform, mantling up if needed.
Many of these shortcuts for Zone 4 are pretty complicated, so we have attached a video showcasing all of them to give you a better look at how to do each one.
All Zone 5 Ascent Freerun Shortcuts
There are quite a few Zone 5 Shortcuts that you can take to easily skip sections. Since this is a grapple segment, all of them require grapple placements. First up, you can skip the very first platform by jumping and grappling to the next one instead.
You can also skip the platform with the dive through portion entirely by grappling over the top of it directly after swinging from the ball.
On the next section, you can completely skip the portion of the building by grappling to the ball and pulling left, before grappling to the side of the building and pulling left also.
If you manage to do the previous shortcut, you can also grapple straight to one of the pillars in the next section, and then grapple down to the pathway cut down on time to reach Zone 6.
All Zone 6 Ascent Freerun Shortcuts
Likewise, in the grapple segment of Zone 6, there are a few shortcuts you can use. We’ll be going over the most prominent ones here, but there are certainly more. First off, you can skip the first wall jump at Checkpoint 1 by grappling to the top of either wall and then straight to the arrow of the next checkpoint.
The rest of the wall jump section through to the next checkpoint pretty much has no specific shortcuts, but you can get through it faster by grappling to the end of the pathways.
Beyond this point, you can skip major segments like the sliding and diving portions by grappling over the top of them instead.
Zone 6 Checkpoint 12
For this next shortcut, we recommend grappling down to Checkpoint 12 (the platform just before the triple wall jump), though it is not entirely necessary. Wall jump or grapple past the wall jump segment, and then grapple to the left of the pathway and onto the floating truck. It’s imperative that you do not land on the pathway itself, as doing so will take away your grapple.
From the truck, grapple directly to the ledge on the right before the entrance to Zone 7, and then grapple up to the ceiling of the area.
Here, you can walk along this segment and completely skip Zone 7. Just at the end of the area, you can jump down and grapple along the targets of the zipline before grappling onto the pathway just before the next zipline, and then either grapple up or take the zipline up.
This section is definitely difficult, so for more guidance, see the video above.
All Zone 7 Ascent Freerun Shortcuts
Zone 7 Checkpoint 4
For those that can’t quite get the hang of the previous shortcut that bypasses Zone 7, there are some shortcuts in Zone 7 itself that can help you cut down on time. The first can be found at Checkpoint 4. Just after completing the triple wall jump, turn back and jump onto the last wall jump.
From here, you can jump directly to the wall in front, jump left, and chain together several wall jumps before mantling up to skip straight to Checkpoint 11. Completing this shortcut will eliminate the need to complete the next upcoming two shortcuts.
Zone 7 Checkpoint 5
If you skip the previous shortcut, you can instead do another at Checkpoint 5. Immediately after the target wall jump, instead of heading to the left, wall jump to the right, shoot the target, and then wall jump off the yellow wall to reach the Checkpoint 8 platform.
Zone 7 Checkpoint 10
Checkpoint 10’s shortcut is easily the hardest of the Zone 7 shortcuts, and can be skipped entirely. However, if you find yourself at Checkpoint 10, at the end of the zipline leading up to it, look right and then G-Slide / Slide Jump forwards, before kicking off the wall at the last possible moment parallel to the zipline ahead.
Once you are close enough, interact with the zipline to get onto it and immediately shoot the target to the left, followed by every other target. This completely skips half of the first zipline, taking you straight to Checkpoint 14.
Zone 7's shortcuts are definitely a little challenging, so be sure to check the attached video above if you need a little more guidance.
All Zone 8 Ascent Freerun Shortcuts
Zone 8 Checkpoint 3
At Checkpoint 3 of Zone 8, instead of shooting the target to generate the yellow wall by the boat, ignore it. From here, use the wall jump to the left to reach the boat on the right. Once on the boat, you can wall jump from the wall with the target and mantle up to reach Checkpoint 8.
Zone 8 Checkpoint 8
The Checkpoint 8 shortcut requires a few steps. First, wall jump as usual to get the grapple. Just before reaching the grapple, do a 180-degree turn towards the yacht and grapple onto it.
From here, grapple back down to the Checkpoint 8 platform. Once done, you are able to grapple onto the right-most target to launch yourself forward, and then grapple straight to Checkpoint 11.

All Zone 9 Ascent Freerun Shortcuts
Zone 9 Checkpoints 3 to 6
This next shortcut requires you to master the G-Slide. To start, reach Checkpoint 3 and shoot the first target before jumping onto the rotating cylinder.
From here, perform a vertical wall kick on the yellow wall ahead to get on top of it and stand on the platform with the target. In our case, we did this from the second cylinder, as another player had already shot the target, but you can also do this from the front of the first cylinder.
From here, G-Slide Jump off the platform towards the screens on the other side. Cross the gap to the other screen with another G-Slide Jump.
From here, use your ballistic knife to shoot the right target. Next, G-Slide Jump off the screen to the right-most closest yellow platform. Then, sticking to the right side, G-Slide Jump to the platform directly ahead, and then G-Slide Jump straight to the second “L”-shaped platform.
Finally, if you want to skip the ladder, shoot the next target and G-Slide Jump from the last yellow platform directly to the ledge, mantling up if needed.
This may just be the hardest shortcut to pull off, so if you need a little more guidance, see the attached video above.
