Sasuke Uchiha is one of the most powerful characters to exist in the world of Boruto and Naruto. As the deuteragonist of the original story, Sasuke stood neck-and-neck with Naruto Uzumaki, and at the end of the story, was officially declared one of the two strongest in the world. In the Boruto era, Sasuke's journey has been arduous, and this is largely due to him being nerfed by the creators.
However, now, in the latest post-Mamushi arc, which began on June 18, 2026, in V-Jump Issue #8, Sasuke Uchiha's return is officially being set up, and with his return, a new transformation for him is being teased in the story that we would all absolutely love to witness.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Has Powered Up Sasuke Uchiha During The 3-Year Timeskip
Boruto significantly nerfed Sasuke Uchiha in a multitude of ways. The first nerf that Sasuke received came to his Rinnegan, which had the vast majority of its powers stripped from it. Even though Sasuke had access to Six Paths Powers, he never utilized them in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. This was evident across various battles, such as:
- Sasuke vs Momoshiki Otsutsuki in Boruto Chapter 8, released on December 12, 2016, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #2
- Sasuke vs Jigen in Boruto Chapter 38, released on September 20, 2019, in V-Jump Issue #11
- Sasuke vs Ishiki Otsutsuki in Boruto Chapter 51, released on October 20, 2020, in V-Jump Issue #12
In all these battles, Sasuke never made use of the Six Paths Powers of the Rinnegan even once, other than Amenotejikara, his unique Rinnegan-based transportation ninjutsu. The other nerf that Boruto received came in Chapter 53 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, on December 20, 2020, when Momoshiki Otsutsuki stabbed his Rinnegan and took it away from him permanently. From this point onwards, Sasuke remained tremendously weakened; however, this big issue was fixed by the author Mikio Ikemoto during the three-year timeskip. In this time period, Sasuke and Boruto trained together, and while the primary goal of this training period was to strengthen Boruto Uzumaki, Sasuke also trained himself and built his strength up.
Code: Uchiha, you!!! How dare you take my eye?
Sasuke: Listen closely, Boruto! There's no way we can win against him right now. So escape. Survive at all costs and build on the skills that I've hammered into you. Then nobody will be able to stop you.
— Sasuke proves his new strength, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter #5
On December 20, 2023, in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 5, it was officially confirmed that even without his Rinnegan, Sasuke was able to stand in battle against a Limiter-less Code and take one of his eyes from him, which is a significant feat when compared to how Sasuke was not even able to scratch Jigen in Boruto Chapter 38, despite having the Rinnegan. Furthermore, Boruto Volume 8’s release on June 4, 2026, confirms to us that Sasuke grew stronger during the time skip period thanks to his training with Boruto Uzumaki.
"During their training together to get stronger, Boruto and Sasuke's main food sources were fish and wild birds, which they hunted using Raiton and Shuriken, along with wild plants and mushrooms." — Mikio Ikemoto confirms Sasuke’s new strength, Boruto Volume #8
All things considered, the current Sasuke is much stronger than before, and as such, we are anticipating a new transformation for the Uchiha upon his return at the end of the post-Mamushi arc, which began in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 35 on June 18, 2026.
Sasuke's New Transformation Could Be Linked To Lighting Release Chakra Mode
As things stand, Sasuke Uchiha doesn't have many tricks up his sleeve, which makes it harder to justify how he grew stronger during the Two Blue Vortex time skip. The biggest power that he has is his Mangekyo Sharingan, with which he can utilize the power of Amaterasu, Kagutsuchi, and the ultimate ability, Susanoo. These powers, despite being great, are not enough to see Sasuke fight evenly against Code and even take one of his eyes from him. This can only make sense when taking into consideration the fact that Sasuke received a significant upgrade in some way or form.
"Forgive me, Boruto. Stopping Momoshiki's rampage was my responsibility as your teacher, but I couldn't be there for you when you needed me. The village doesn't need to hate anyone else besides me." — Sasuke Uchiha prepares to step up in power, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Chapter #69
The most lethal transformation that Sasuke could receive could potentially come from his Lightning Release Chakra Mode. This was teased first in Sasuke's battle against Momoshiki Otsutsuki in Boruto Episode #65. In this battle, Sasuke was seen coating himself with lightning to boost his speed as well as his defensive output. Perhaps during the timeskip, Sasuke has trained this power of his and taken it to the next level to give him a significant buff, which would explain how he was able to take one of Code's eyes from him despite being outnumbered in battle.
It is also possible for Sasuke to be able to use bits of his Six Paths Powers despite losing the Rinnegan. Technically, this should not be impossible, as Madara Uchiha was able to use his Rinnegan abilities despite not having his eyes in the 4th Ninja War, as seen in Naruto Chapter #658. If Madara could do it, then it is entirely possible for Sasuke to be able to do it as well, but we will need confirmation from the author on this particular plot point.
Sasuke Could Potentially Also Tap Into Senjutsu
On top of lightning release buffs that Sasuke could most likely have gained during the three-year time skip of Boruto, it is also possible that he tapped into Senjutsu. To be clear, Sasuke is not a user of Sage Mode, but he is no stranger to Senjutsu either. This is because Sasuke wielded the power of the Curse Mark at one point in the story, and through this Curse Mark, he could make use of Senjutsu energy.
“After I injected Sasuke's body with Jugo’s chakra, his body adapted quite nicely to it, and he made this power his own. It shouldn't come as a surprise that Sasuke's Susanoo is able to merge with Jugo's chakra. What stands before you is the Senjutsu version of Susanoo.” — Orochimaru explains Sasuke's Senjutsu, Naruto Chapter #648
In the battle against Obito Uchiha in the Fourth Great Ninja War, specifically in Naruto Chapter 648, Sasuke once again made use of Senjutsu energy through the curse mark that Jugo transferred to his Susanoo. At the timeskip, Sasuke could've out Orochimaru and figured out a way to utilize Senjutsu energy once again. This would have given him a significant buff and made him strong enough to injure Code.
Moving forward in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Hidari is the main villain of the Post-Mamushi arc, and once he is taken down by Boruto and Sarada, his Thorn Soul Bulb can officially be obtained. Following the acquisition of the Thorn Soul Bulb, Sasuke Uchiha can finally be brought back by putting the bulb inside his tree. Upon his return, Sasuke will finally get the opportunity to demonstrate the skills he gained during the three-year time skip of Boruto.
