Known to be one of the mightiest clans to ever exist in the world of Naruto, the Senju clan held special importance in Naruto, and it stemmed directly from the Sage of Six Paths through his younger son, Asura Otsutsuki. The Senju are known to be incredibly resilient in combat and possess immense vitality similar to that of the Uzumaki. At one point, they were the mightiest clan in the world of ninja, stronger than even the likes of Uchiha. When they combined forces with the latter, it led to the creation of the ninja village system that has persevered for decades and will continue for the foreseeable future as well.

That said, in the new Boruto series, the Senju clan is officially being ended forever. As things stand, Tsunade Senju is the last member of this clan, and given that she is now quite old, the clan is set to end with her, putting an end to one of the strongest clans ever to exist in the history of the ninja world.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Confirms No New Senju Clan Member Exists In Konoha

Boruto Two Blue Vortex No New Senju Clan Member

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex has introduced quite a lot of incredibly powerful characters to us over the years and has also significantly expanded upon various clan abilities. For instance, the Uzumaki Clan, which was officially stated to be destroyed in Naruto Chapter 500 on July 19, 2010, is resurgent once again. As of the post-Mamushi arc, which began officially with the release of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 35 on June 18, 2026, the Uzumaki clan now maintains its position as the strongest in Konoha as well as the ninja world. Similarly, the Uchiha are resurgent through the likes of Sarada and, following her awakening of the Mangekyo Sharingan in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 20 on March 18, 2025, their future is also secured.

"My name is Sasuke Uchiha. I hate a lot of things, and I don't particularly like anything. What I have is not a dream, as I will make it a reality. I'm going to restore my clan and kill a certain someone." — Sasuke announces his goal to save his Clan, Naruto Chapter #4

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the Senju clan. For one reason or another, Kishimoto never expanded upon the members of the Senju clan in the modern era. During the time when Konoha was created, the numbers of the Senju were plentiful. Even aside from Hashirama and Tobirama, the twin brothers who were at the helm of this clan, the Senju had quite a lot of influence in Konoha. This clan also kept producing one powerful ninja after another, which goes to show that it is no coincidence to see the likes of Tsunade, Konoha's Fifth Hokage, stemming from this clan.

“The Senju considered their strength to be their love and not Jutsu. The Uchiha were different. They gave importance to strength above all else.” — Tobirama Senju explains the Senju’s power, Naruto Chapter #619

Hashirama's granddaughter Tsunade possesses tremendous powers up her sleeve, and a display of that was given to us in the Fourth Great Ninja War. However, she is the last Senju, as things stand. Tsunade's younger brother Nawaki faced an unfortunate death in the Second Great Ninja War, and that makes her the last member of this clan. In the modern era of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, we also have confirmation that no new Senju member exists, which means that this clan is now set to meet an unfortunate end.

Why The Senju Clan Dies With Tsunade

As things stand, Tsunade Senju is the last member of this legendary clan that was taken to new heights by Hashirama during the Warring States period. As far as we know, Tsunade also never had any kids, and given that Nawaki died quite young, this clan is now set to meet its end. While Tsunade is still alive, she is no longer an active ninja and most certainly doesn't have any family that we know of. Furthermore, in the next generation of Boruto, which has been actively showcased in both Naruto Next Generation and the Two Blue Vortex series, no new Senju character was introduced.

Hashirama: Who is the Fifth Hokage then?

Orochimaru: Your granddaughter, Princess Tsunade.

Hashirama: Tsuna?? Is the village okay?

Minato: Are you worried?

Hashirama: I really spoiled her since she was my first granddaughter. She even learned gambling from me when she was a kid!

— Hashirama talks about the Senju lineage, Naruto Chapter #619

Ikemoto has also previously spoken of the Senju clan as extinct, which goes to show that this mighty clan has now fallen tremendously. As to how that happened, we do not know, but it is quite clear that the Senju clan, which held distant ties to the Sage of Six Paths himself, is now meeting its end following the impending death of Tsunade Senju, which is likely to happen in the next couple of decades. Soon, the Senju will no longer exist, and that is quite a sad realization.

As things stand, the fate of the Senju clan in the Boruto series is already sealed. Unless Mikio Ikemoto and Masashi Kishimoto bring a mysterious Senju clan member from a different village, or revitalize the clan through some distant relative of Tsunade within Konoha, this clan is done and dusted forever. It is quite sad to see the bloodline of Asura Otsutsuki being wiped out, but at the same time, it makes one question as to how this even happened in the first place. The dwindling numbers of the Uchiha clan make a lot of sense in the story, given that they experienced a massacre orchestrated by Danzo and carried out by the likes of Obito and Itachi. However, the Senju clan experienced no such massacre. They were also stronger than the Uchiha, and it was quite clear to see at the end of the Warring States Period that their numbers were quite healthy.

"He was Senju "Wood Release" Hashirama. He was the man who stood atop the Ninja World, and the man that I respected the most." — Madara Uchiha explains his rivalry with the Senju at the peak of Warring States, Naruto Chapter #398

Despite all that, the Senju somehow mysteriously died one after another, and right now, only one member of this clan exists, who is also now edging closer to her death. The disappearance of Senju clan members will probably never be explained by the author because of the lack of influence of the Senju in the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex series. However, the coveted Wood Release Kekkei Genkai, which is deeply tied to their strongest member, Hashirama Senju, still lives in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex.

The Wood Release Kekkei Genkai is carried by Moegi Kazamatsuri, as confirmed in Boruto Volume #4. It is possible that Moegi has Senju blood and direct ties to the First Hokage, Hashirama, in which case she could revitalize the clan at some point in the future, perhaps with Konohamaru Sarutobi. Much of that remains conjecture right now, and we would still need clarification from the author as to how she possesses Hashirama's powers. Regardless, even with Moegi, the Senju Clan needs to be rescued somehow before it is eventually completely wiped out.
