A brand-new Borderlands story is now available for fans to experience. Borderlands Dead ECHOs is an official audio drama set in the Borderlands universe and follows two original characters, Watts and Junie, on an adventure across Pandora. Borderlands Dead ECHOs even features cameos from fan-favorite characters like Claptrap, Sir Hammerlock, and Wainwright Jakobs.
Borderlands Dead ECHOs was originally announced at PAX West back in 2025, and had an initial release window of Spring 2026. After missing this window with no word from Gearbox, Dead ECHOs has made a surprise comeback, releasing today on major podcast platforms. Fans looking to get their fill of Borderlands stories between Borderlands 4 DLC releases should give Dead ECHOs a listen.
Borderlands Dead ECHOs is Now Available for Fans to Stream
The official Borderlands account on X announced that fans can start listening to Borderlands Dead ECHOs right now. This darkly comedic audio drama is officially produced by Borderlands developer Gearbox, and tells the tale of a DAHL Echo operator named Watts as he sifts through undeliverable ECHO Logs for secrets that he can sell on the black market. He meets Junie, who believes Watts should use his talents for good, and the pair becomes entangled in a conspiracy that puts them in the crosshairs of DAHL's corporate hit squad. Episode 1 of Borderlands Dead ECHOs is available now on Spotify, YouTube, and Apple.
Dead ECHOs stars Joel Watson as Watts and April Johnson as Junie, with David Wald, J. Michael Tatum, and Jim Foronda returning as Jackobs, Hammerlock, and Claptrap, respectively. After Borderlands 4 brought the franchise to the new planet of Kairos, Dead ECHOs takes fans back to the iconic Borderlands home world of Pandora, where bandits rule and lawlessness abounds. The DAHL Corporation also returns as the villain of Dead ECHOs after appearing as antagonists in previous Borderlands games.

Episodes of Dead ECHOs are planned to release weekly, so fans won't be able to hear the entirety of the audio drama right now. However, the franchise is no stranger to episodic releases, with Telltale's Tales from the Borderlands releasing as piecemeal episodes back when it launched in 2014. While fans won't have to wait months to hear what happens to Watts and Junie next, they may want to follow the podcast on their platform of choice to keep up to date with new episode releases.
Dead ECHOs isn't the only Borderlands content releasing in the latter half of 2026. The second DLC story pack for Borderlands 4 is planned to release later this year, featuring the brand-new playable Vault Hunter Loveless to round out the game's roster. Loveless will be the second DLC Vault Hunter for Borderlands 4 following the release of C4SH as part of the Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned DLC that launched back in March of this year. Borderlands 4 also released Bounty Pack 3, A Zane to Kill For, last month, giving fans plenty of content to dig into throughout the rest of the year.
