At the end of Black Clover, we saw the rise of many powerful characters whose hard work throughout the story finally bore great results. Black Clover saw the release of Chapter 392 on May 1, 2026, which also marked the conclusion of the franchise. However, Yuki Tabata was not quite done with the story and made a brief return on August 4, 2026, with the release of the final guidebook, Perfect Grimoire.
Perfect Grimoire allowed us to learn more about the world and the characters of Black Clover. Given how much was left unanswered in the original manga, we were happy to get more information about this extensive world through Tabata and his editors. In this new guidebook, Yuki Tabata officially revealed the strongest female Mage of her era, specifically the age before Asta’s. The author confirmed that Acier Silva, Noelle's mother, whose power was that of a Wizard King, was among the very strongest. While Acier was the strongest of her time, her daughter, Noelle, eventually surpassed her mother and became the strongest female Mage of all time, carrying on this marvelous legacy forward as a powerful woman from the Silva bloodline.
New Black Clover Guidebook Reveals Acier Silva As Greatest Female Sorcerer Of Her Time
Black Clover first started its serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump back on February 16, 2015, in Issue #12. This manga by Yuki Tabata quickly gained popularity, especially thanks to its fantastic cast of characters and captivating power system revolving around magic. Immediately upon the beginning of Black Clover, we saw the reveal of many powerful and exciting sorcerers who tested the power system of the world to the fullest. Some of these characters included the Wizard Kings, such as Lumiel Silvamillion and Julius Novachrono. Later on in the story, we were introduced to the character of Acier Silva through the main heroine, Noelle Silva. Acier Silva is Noelle's own mother who died due to the curse placed on her by the high-ranking devil, Megicula. The curse slowly seeped away at her energy and eventually killed her. Despite all that, it was clear that Acier Silva was a Mage in a league of her own, as the former Captain of the Silver Eagle.
In Black Clover's new guidebook, Perfect Grimoire, Acier Silva was upscaled tremendously. Yuki Tabata directly states in the new guidebook released on August 4th, 2026, that Acier Silva was in fact the strongest female Mage of her time. In a world like that of Black Clover, filled with powerful sorceresses, this is quite a grand title to hold. It proves Acier Silva to be one of the greatest and strongest female characters of all time in Black Clover, and one who could only truly be surpassed by her own daughter, Noelle Silva. We would have definitely loved to see more of Acier Silva in the main Black Clover story. Sadly, because of her death, her character arc was cut short, but at the very least, we got to see her fight Noelle after she was brought back by Lucius' Soul Magic with the Paladin power-up.
Acier’s Great Power Comes From The Connection to Lumiel Silvamillion
Acier Silva holds royal blood, as she hails from the Silvamillion bloodline, the greatest line in the Clover Kingdom that can trace its origins back to the first Wizard King, Lumiel Silvamillion. Lumiel changed the history of this Kingdom and became a legend whose name will never be forgotten. In Perfect Grimoire, Yuki Tabata goes on to further build bridges between Acier and Lumiel. Acier is a descendant of Lumiel, and in this new release, Tabata reveals that she has affinities comparable to his.
Thanks to this new info, Tabata confirms Acier’s massive mana reserves, which could be considered to be some of the greatest in the whole series. It also reveals her incredible magic control and output, making her one of the most destructive mages of her era. This connection with Lumiel Silvamillion also goes to highlight her Wizard King-level potential. With her raw power, Acier could have ascended to the rank of Wizard King had she not died as early as she did. Quite clearly, she had a lot more potential to fulfill.
Why Noelle Has Surpassed Acier In The New Era
Yuki Tabata specifically states in Perfect Grimoire that Acier Silva is the strongest female mage of her era. In other words, while she is incredibly powerful, she is not the strongest of all time. That said, there are other powerful female mages who have a shot at that title. For one, we have the first and only confirmed female Wizard King in the history of the Clover Kingdom: Princia Funnybunny. Princia was quite powerful with her Legion magic, but in her Paladin form, Acier would defeat her. There is also Mereoleona Vermillion to keep in mind, who is known to be quite a powerhouse and stands as one of Black Clover's most iconic female characters with her loud and brash personality. In the Black Clover movie, Sword of the Wizard King, she was able to keep up and deal powerful blows to the resurrected Princia. At the end of the story, she is on a whole other level, but even she might struggle to come out on top in a battle against Acier at full power.
The only female character whom we can say with certainty has surpassed Acier is Noelle Silva. Noelle Silva is Acier’s own daughter and one who carries her legacy as the new strongest member of the Silva family. Noelle's control over magic has peaked by the end of this story and reached new heights, and she is also a character blessed with the affinities of the first Wizard King, Lumiel Silvamillion, just like her mother. In Black Clover's Judgment Day, Noelle was even able to take down her mother's Paladin version with the help of her siblings, defeating her once and for all and proving herself as the strongest female mage in the history of Black Clover. Noelle is even able to defeat the Devil who previously cursed her mother — Vanica Zogratis, possessed by Megicula. Clearly, she succeeded where her mother previously failed.
By the end of the story, Noelle is undoubtedly beyond the level of an average Wizard King. With the powers of the Leviathan, the Sea God of the Black Clover world, Noelle Silva is an unstoppable force when she taps into her Valkyrie dress. While Acier is the strongest of her era, Noelle could be said to be the strongest of all time, as we've yet to see a female fighter on her level. Had Asta and Yuno not been present, then the position of Wizard King could’ve gone to Noelle instead.
Even though the Leviathan has left her at the end of Black Clover, Noelle will still gain access to its powers in times of need, as confirmed by the Perfect Grimoire guidebook. Her powers are thus at their peak, and we hope to see more of her in any future Black Clover content. While the manga is over, we will still see her full power being animated and brought to life in Black Clover Season 2, airing in October 2026.
